Thoughts are.Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz and Trade Minister Ed Fast will speak to media at 10 a.m. ET on Tuesday in reaction to Monday's WTO ruling, which found that a U.S. law implemented in 2008 demanding country-of-origin labeling on meat products was discriminatory and protectionist.
Under WTO rules, Canada and Mexico — another country that had opposed the measures — are allowed to move swiftly to impose punishments, which could likely take the form of retaliatory tariffs on U.S. food products like wine, chocolate, cereal and frozen orange juice.
