PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Former Congressman Patrick Murphy was on board Amtrak train 188 that crashed in Philadelphia Tuesday night, leaving at least six people dead and more than 140 others injured. All seven cars derailed, some flipped on their sides, trapping passengers under snarled hunks of metal.

Officials say 243 people were on board at the time of the crash. Murphy said it was chaos after the train came to a halt after rolling over.
[People] didn’t care about anyone else, so stepping over people and stuff,” he said. “So I pushed out the emergency window. I had to lift myself up because it was kind of on the ceiling and then lifted people up. About eight or nine people got out.”

Is it surprising today that people couldn't care less about each other? With all the division, name calling, and activism out there we are as a people more callous toward each other than ever I recall in my life...Sad really....Your thoughts?

Mornin JMac. :2wave: I heard he was on the train. He is going to be running for Rubio's seat down in Florida. Thats great he helped others get out. I agree with you people aren't as close as they use to be.

But then again, I have seen people get into their cars and trucks, run off to other states wherein disasters have taken place. Only looking to help. Even bringing food and water. Blankets and coats.

Yeah I remember Hurricane Katrina. Sean Penn got into a boat to help people, although it sank. George Bush flew over the devastation with smug satisfaction knowing that poor people were suffering and dying. Micheal Brown did his part in ensuring the suffering lasted as long as possible and Bush even congratulated Mike Brown on doing a fantastic job making things worse. "You're doing a heckava job Brownie".

The impoverished nation of Bangladesh, for example, offered $1 million in monetary aid and a disaster management team. The Bush administration accepted the money but turned down the disaster team.
The Bush admin pocketed the money and sent the rescue team away.

Really, I remember people in the Midwest heading out to towns that were completely destroyed by Tornadoes. Contractors, Vendors, Church groups all heading out to help people rebuild, get their lives back and settled in. All it took was hearing and seeing the devastation.

Guess what, that happens under Both Party's Man who is in Office. Including Jr and BO peep. Imagine that.

LOL! Nothing like an unbiased, factual report! Thanks for letting us know that you couldn't care less about the truth, or anything close to it.

Thanks for a good laugh though.
