ISIS activity prompts threat level increase at bases

Because Obama didn't leave behind a peaceful and stable Iraq. There's been no peace or stability in Iraq since March of 2003!

Iraq was fairly stable when Bush II left office. Then Obama took office, removed all troops from Iraq and waited too f-ing long to tackle ISIS when they popped up and started taking cities.

Laugh out loud all you wish.

The U.S. invasion and occupation of Iraq has increased the number of terrorist groups worldwide and "made the overall terrorism problem worse," a U.S. intelligence official said in a secret study.

The assessment of the war's impact on terrorism came in a National Intelligence Estimate that represents a consensus view of the 16 disparate spy services inside government, CBS News learned Sunday.

CBS News senior White House correspondent Bill Plante reports that the intelligence report contained some broad conclusions:

The U.S. presence in Iraq is providing new recruits for militant Islam.

The movement has spread and is now "self-generating."

Report: Iraq War Made Terror 'Worse' - CBS News

The idea that suddenly there were more terrorists because we invaded Iraq is laughable. These terrorists always existed, they just did not have a vacume to operate in because they were tightly controlled in their respective countries. The major mistake we made in Iraq was that we went in and dismantled their military and police forces while not providing a replacement for that. While we were celebrating the ouster of Saddam, the militant groups were flooding into Iraq from all sides. Its not like they just popped into existence out of thin air, they were always there. If we had not tried to please the liberals by sending in a "cheaper" force with a smaller footprint to save money, and sent in what was actually needed to do the job, ISIS would have never existed and Iraq would be on its way to becoming a regional super power with the US as a benefactor from all the additional trade agreements we would have made with them due to our security agreement. Just as we did in Japan, S.Korea, Philippines and China. You just can't teach this kind of stupid, unless your head is filled with progressive, liberal, feel goodery garbage which has no place in a practical and realistic world.

Yes, laughable because Capster knows more than our intelligence agencies.

No, our 2006 NIE concluded, with consensus amongst all the intelligence agencies, that the Iraq invasion and occupation exacerbated terrorism there and globally, and made America less safe. Meanwhile, the Islamic State formed in Iraq during the middle of Bush's term. Iraq hasn't seen peace, or stability since the Spring of 2003.

Yes, laughable because Capster knows more than our intelligence agencies.

And our intelligence agencies knew so much about the situation in Iraq that they completely underestimated the threat of civil war and insurgency after the invasion. Are you actually saying our intelligence agency knows whats going on? Are you defending them?

I'm not defending anybody. I posted you the conclusions of the Bush era NIE.

The documents suggest that the public relations push for war came before the intelligence analysis, which then conformed to public positions taken by Pentagon and White House officials. For example, a July 2002 draft of the "White Paper" ultimately issued by the CIA in October 2002 actually pre-dated the National Intelligence Estimate that the paper purportedly summarized, but which Congress did not insist on until September 2002.

A similar comparison between a declassified draft and the final version of the British government's "White Paper" on Iraq weapons of mass destruction adds to evidence that the two nations colluded in the effort to build public support for the invasion of Iraq. Dr. Prados concludes that the new evidence tends to support charges raised by former White House press secretary Scott McClellan and by the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence in its long-delayed June 2008 "Phase II" report on politicization of intelligence.

And there was the Downing Street memo that fingered Bush for fixing the intelligence around the policy. There was never any real reason to believe that Saddam Hussein had WMD smoking guns that could create mushroom clouds over US cities as was claimed to scare up American support.

So wait a minute, are you saying you are smarter then the CIA and I am not? Interesting.

False. They were hanging out in Syria and didnt jump back into Iraq until after we left as Roadvirus correctly stated. Bush said all along that us leaving Iraq would create a safe haven for terrorism...its almost like he was a prophet. I wasnt a fan of Bush by the way, but Iraq was stabilized in his final years in office....now that the radical ideologue Obama irresponsibly ripped us out of there we are seeing terrorism explode. They now think they are in charge, as as long as we have the hippie in the oval office, they are right.

I await more fantastic news of beheadings, rapes, and murders from the religion of piss.

You simply can't reason with liberals. Even after they are proven to be wrong, they still continue with the "evil Bush" storyline. The truth is that there were WMD's found in Iraq. Well, ok, maybe they were not many completely assembled WMD's found, but there were literally TONS of chemicals found which were conveniently located in the same location as munitions. All one has to do is is do a quick search and it is clear that the liberal scapegoating of Bush was just that. A political ploy (propaganda) to put one of their own in office next election cycle, rather then truth all Americans needed in order to make an educated opinion on the issue. It is a liberal controlled media where you will never hear that there was LOTS of evidence that points to an Iraq that would have immediately reconstituted its WMD program once sanctions were lifted.

Here are just a few links that prove that.

http://www.businessinsider.com/us-chemical-weapons-iraq-2014-10 (troops attest to WMD's found in Iraq)

Funny article;
"Wikileaks released more documents this last week, and among them yet more evidence that Iraq did have WMDs at the time of the invasion, and we found them. You’d have to be the intellectual equivalent of an amoeba to not get this by now. Then again, we are talking about the press along with their anti-war cocktail buddies."
https://caseyhendrickson.wordpress.com/2011/06/24/wmds-in-iraq-are-irrefutable/

But then again, what do you expect from a press that continues to press ahead with the 75 cents on the dollar pay gap, and "rape culture".

After this story came out the blamebush liberals said that the weapons found "werent dangerous". If that is true then I challenge them to put one in their babies crib.

Yes, well you can tell that nonsense to the nations intelligence agencies, we have at least two posters now that think they have better access then our intelligence agencies. Why doesn't Washington have you guys producing our NIE's, hmm.

The group originated as Jama'at al-Tawhid wal-Jihad in 1999, which pledged allegiance to al-Qaeda in 2004. The group participated in the Iraqi insurgency, which had followed the March 2003 invasion of Iraq. In January 2006, it joined other Sunni insurgent groups to form the Mujahideen Shura Council, which in October 2006 proclaimed the formation of the Islamic State of Iraq (ISI).

The Bush administration scared Americans into support of the gratuitous war with hyperbole like "do we have to wait for the smoking gun in the form of a mushroom cloud over a US city"!!!!!!!!!! Saddam Hussein had neither the purpose or the ability to nuke a US city. He hadn't the nuclear war heads or the delivery system, and that smoking gun WAS NEVER FOUND! So **** Bush and his corrupt cronies that waged a senseless war, wasted the lives of 4,500 servicemen/women, and wasted the lives of 1-200,000 innocent Iraqi civilians and left a power vacuum that spawned the Islamic State which itself is now terrorising the region. Apologise for all that at your own ridicule!

This has been the MO of the Democratic party since Bush took office. These are the same people who screamed up and down that Bush had stopped looking for Osama bin Laden when, in fact, the public CIA office was simply closed to move the search to the ground in Afghanistan and Pakistan. When the covert Operation Canon Ball was uncovered and reported on the NYT the same miscreants didn't even pause in their pivot to attacking that program, ignoring that the previous years were filled with their ignorant rants that no such search was in progress.

Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

From your own link Monte.....and the difference is, what took place and created a major difference from just the formation of ISI. The new authority that came about due to BO and his team failing to negotiate for a SOFA agreement. Which would have prevented ISIL from doing what they did. Attempting to bring Bush Jr into something that clearly falls on BO.....isn't working. Nor will it!

The group is known in Arabic as ad-Dawlah al-Islāmiyah fīl-ʿIrāq wash-Shām, leading to the acronym Da'ish, Da'eesh, or DAESH (داعش, Arabic pronunciation: [ˈdaːʕiʃ]), the Arabic equivalent of "ISIL"[33]) On 29 June 2014, the group proclaimed itself to be a worldwide caliphate, with Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi being named its caliph,[37] and renamed itself "Islamic State" (الدولة الإسلامية, ad-Dawlah al-Islāmiyah). The new name and the idea of a caliphate has been widely criticised and condemned, with the UN, various governments, and mainstream Muslim groups all refusing to acknowledge it.[38] As caliphate, it claims religious, political and military authority over all Muslims worldwide and that "the legality of all emirates, groups, states, and organisations, becomes null by the expansion of the khilāfah's [caliphate's] authority and arrival of its troops to their areas".[39][40] Many Islamic and non-Islamic communities judge the group unrepresentative of Islam.....snip~

Lol, that US policies in the region have been a boon for the Islamic State, yeah, so what.

The vacuum was created when Obama prematurely left Iraq for political reasons.

Looks like Big Boon came under BO, and more Boons that keep taking place too.

It gets that way when leaders of Arab Nations have no respect for a US President.

The vacuum was created when Obama prematurely left Iraq for political reasons.

The removal of Hussein created the vacuum as has been documented by the Bush era (2006) NIE which concluded that the invasion and occupation of Iraq has increased global terrorism, and made America less safe. Provoked as it was, we just had an incident in America that this time at least only ended with injury.
