President Obama, speaking at Lehman College, declared “New York’s Finest lost one of its own today,” and that Moore came from a family of police officers who “deserve our gratitude and our prayers not just today but every day. They’ve got a tough job.”

“Policing is never easy,” NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton said Monday evening. “At this time in America, it’s even more difficult … I’ve been doing this for almost 50 years, and it never gets easier, and I’ve heard this at almost every police death, ‘Why is it always the good ones?’ Maybe the reason it’s always the good ones is because there are so many good ones.”

Will there be crowds in the street brandishing signs that say "All Lives Matter"? Will Sharpton be speaking out against the actions of this black criminal that killed Officer Moore? Will there be a DOJ investigation into the rights of this officer's rights being violated?

Moore was on duty Saturday with his partner Eric Jansen, 30, as part of an anti-crime unit in Queens Village when he was shot at 6:15 p.m., police said.Moore and Jansen were in an unmarked patrol car when they saw a man on the street adjusting something in the waistband of his pants that appeared to be a gun, Bratton said Saturday night.
When the officers told the man to stop, he turned, pulled out a gun and began shooting into the car, Bratton said.
Moore was shot in the face. He was taken to Jamaica Hospital in critical condition and underwent surgery.
The suspect, identified as Demetrius Blackwell, fled on foot and was later arrested.
Bratton said Blackwell has a long arrest record.
Moore is the third NYPD officer killed in the line of duty in the past six months.

How long in this thread before someone stands up for the criminal in this story? I mean long arrest record, and appeared to have a gun in his waistband? I mean, "No probable cause" right? To these people that argue this crap, the officer 'got what he deserved' right? Disgusting....

And third officer killing in six months? But it's not a dangerous job though...

Absolutely tragic. That poor young man and his family.

And I assume your comment about crowds chanting "All Lives Matter" with that disgusting Al Sharpton was rhetorical.

Undoubtedly had the criminal not found it so easy to access a firearm in the first place this officer would still be alive today :(

Getting anything by theft is easy.
Oh, BTW. How is that stabbing rate going?
And your violent muslim population is very impressive.

I'm not sure why there would be protests. The murderer was captured and will almost certainly be convicted. Protests are the result of people perceiving that justice isn't being done.

No, in this case vigils should be held, not protests.

Don't use the death of an innocent man to advance your goddam anti-gun agenda.

flogger, this isn't an anti gun thread. If you want that then may I suggest the 2nd Amendment forum...This is about the difference in reaction from the public...2 deaths, 2 totally different reactions.

You're not? Will there be riots? My guess is NO....Do you know why?

OK then lets look at it from the perspective of police officers killed in the line of duty. Last year the US had 126 officer deaths and the UK had nil. What do you think is the major factor accounting for such a disparity ?

Take it somewhere else. That discussion DOES NOT belong here.

Of course there won't be riots or protests because the perp was caught. There's no perception or reality of injustice relating to the crime. By all appearances justice will be served. If you think the protests and rioting are because someone was shot, you're very limited in your knowledge. The protests and rioting have been because of the perception that justice isn't served when a police officer murders, only when a non-police officer murders.

There will be no protests. In fact the scummer will be a hero in prison.

yeah, he'll probably get his own Mumia like following, then he can write education propaganda for our future children....

You're not? Will there be riots? My guess is NO....Do you know why?

Because justice will be served. Riots tend to happen when people DON'T think justice is being served.

Comparrisons like that are not on an equal footing. They are ultimately dishonest...Look, you like living without the ability to own a gun, fine, start a thread on it...I won't entertain that distraction no matter how you try to phrase it.

Its a very valid comparison given the thread is about yet another needlessly shot policeman
I really think this is the wrong thread for the conversation you wish to have.
Clearly you have issue with our Second Amendment.
Well you don't live here. Deal with it.

Just what did your Bobbies do while a member of your military was being hacked to death on the street?
Oh, yea. Wait for an armed officer to finally show up.
Now, we have gone tit for tat. Are you done?

Grieving over yet another tragic symptom like the taking of this officers life represents does nothing to address the causes and is ultimately an execise in futility given the lack of will to change anything..
