A Look at the Six Baltimore Police Officers Charged in the Gray Case

Is your post more about the rather childish assumption that all liberals are incapable of having moral and ethical standards or is it about the background of the 6 police?

Wrong is always wrong. Race and political persuasion don't matter. Wrong is wrong.

With identity politics what is wrong becomes right and what is right becomes wrong. It depends entirely on the identity of those involved.

No use talking about moral and ethical standards and right and wrong when multiple standards that depend on identity are being applied.

When a black man says something it's the truth. When a white man says the same thing it's a lie. Or, switch it around depending on who is listening. So what use are appeals to the truth?

So, in effect, no, liberals don't have workable moral standards.

They have ignored it for decades.

They're still ignoring it.

This sudden narrative of supposed " Police brutality " isn't whats wrong with those communities.

Whats wrong with those communities won't be addressed just like it wasn't addressed after the Ferguson debacle finally blew over.

But at least Millions of self rightous and misled Americans will be able to sit back and say that " something's being done for those poor people "...

No, on that you are wrong

I don't know where or when you saw the news, but we here in the US were never told that three officers were black until yesterday.

Absolutely Fenton...And that is why this is the mood today....

"Americans are bracing for a summer of racial disturbances around the country, such as those that have wracked Baltimore, with African Americans and whites deeply divided about why the urban violence has occurred, a new Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll has found.

A resounding 96% of adults surveyed said it was likely there would be additional racial disturbances this summer, a signal that Americans believe Baltimore’s recent problems aren’t a local phenomenon but instead are symptomatic of broader national problems.

When asked to explain recent events in Baltimore and other cities that have seen confrontations between police and members of the African-American community, blacks and whites viewed the situation differently.

Asked to choose between two possible explanations for recent events, 60% of blacks said they reflected “long-standing frustrations about police mistreatment of African Americans.” Some 27% of black respondents said the disturbances were caused by people who used protests over an African American man dying in police custody “as an excused to engage in looting and violence.”

But among whites, the balance of opinion flipped: 58% said people were seizing an excuse to loot, while 32% said the events reflected long-standing frustrations with police."

I did not jump to conclusions if they were white or black.

It is not a sudden narrative made up from thin air. Has been ongoing for decades.
That is just one of the issues.

And do you believe people will stop protesting now?
Yeah...but only because they have been at it for a while now and they need a little break.

I did not jump to conclusions if they were white or black.

The way the news media harped on it, and the blacks in Baltimore, it would appear that they all thought they were white officers.

That is assuming again
Harping on a man with a severed spine?
This brutality, overstepping either the laws or Dept Regs has become routine across the US.
Your country has a policing problem and blames blacks as causing all of it. Which is complete BS
No, they cause problems without doubt, same as hispanics, whites and so on.
But do some checks and see how commonplace brutality is within some police forces.

He damaged property of a business owner. America believes this crime to be far more serious than mere murder. That's why the bail is higher.

What a gratuitous, idiotic statement to make. Do you have any information on this 18 yr old? The six police officers are well known, employed, anchored in the city and without criminal records - or they wouldn't be active police - and their bail was set accordingly. And only one officer was charged with murder of any sort. The fact this 18 year received a higher bail may relate to his own criminal record, but that's only speculation on my part and I won't make a blanket, unsubstantiated, hyperbolic, statement because of it.

It's funny, because here in Toronto I saw it in one of our papers - pictures of the six officers - shortly after the charges were announced. I even mentioned it on one of the threads here a few days ago and posters were surprised.

They harped on them being white because the only officers who appeared in the video widely shown were white - assumptions grew from that.

I bet if I had checked the Guardian, I would have seen the truth. I'm going to have to get back to checking all the British links. Hang the American news media.

You only know what you read in obviously biased news papers and Internet links. You are right in the aspect that all races and ethnic groups commit crimes, but our inner cities are chock full of blacks. The whites, who once lived there have moved out to the suburbs. Unfortunately, blacks seem to commit a lot of crimes that the police have to investigate.

I find myself checking The Guardian lately because it seems one of the few places to get honest information on race of characters in a story.

Anyone who pretends that there wasn't an assumption that the officers were white is dishonest.

Yes, it really is amazing that the non-internet press has censored the races of the 6. And stupid since they're just making themselves look dishonest. Fact is both the mayor and police commissioner are black too!! Baltimore is controlled by blacks and they are doing a terrible job. Another detroit.

I wondered about this since the news media didn't say a thing about the race of the police officers all through this. If they were all white that would have been right up front in news accounts.

Identity politics being all important to the media and to liberals in general, one wonders how this will change the dynamic.

It changes nothing. Six police officers seem to have committed criminal negligent homicide and increasing numbers of Americans are tired of it and want it to stop (that is any and all abuse, excessive force and corruption) and we don't care what their race is, it needs to end.
