Baltimore Police: Gangs Enter Partnership to ‘Take-Out’ Officers [W:99]

You are right, not about the insulting part, but that we can't blame Obama for what has been festering for so long.
Hopelessness, joblessness, frustration, anger, it eventually boils over, and we have had some significant triggers lately.
Obama didn't cause the economy downfall etc by himself. Many before him are to blame as well. And Baltimore didn't turn into a disaster overnight. Look at its history.
But I would agree with those who say that Obama has done very little to keep his promise of bridging the racial divide. People of color looked to him and others, hoping for the promised prosparity, but it never came.
But all that aside, Obama, the esteemed civil rights leaders and the mayor of Baltimore can do something right now, something very important, by calling for calm and by taking a stand against unnecessary violence. He. they should make it clear to the community that violence is not the answer and that those who commit unnecessary violent acts, regardless of skin color or circumstance, will be punished.
Many of us hear the plea and are sympathetic to those who want their voices heard, but seeing this violence hardens the heart.

My point was and is that Obama and Holder have done their utmost over the last year to milk this race issue for all it's worth and to amplify it and fan the flames, rather than try to stand up for the rule of law.

 because "race" riots only started recently.

No, but the political milking of this issue as a tool to fight against the rule of law and tyo turn it into mindless propaganda with total disregard for the facts is something the Obama administration excells at.

She said they gave the protesters the space to destroy things if they wanted to.

Wow.

Thank God I live in Texas. The average law abiding citizen has a pistol either on them or in their vehicle.

Yeah, truly unbelievable when the Baltimore mayor said that. Of course the next day she accused the press of twisting the words, but the direct quote of her on video would seem to disagree.

It's very dangerous when government and it's leaders become excessive politically correct, rather than dealing with facts and common sense (usually diametrically opposed to PC).

Guess the mayor got what she asked for.

There's been rumors that she and her city council are about as corrupt as they come. I wonder if that has any truth to it. Anyone know?

"went for his weapon", is a tall tail, and he was 20 ft away without the weapon when shot in the back.

Good cops look for reasons NOT to shoot people instead of justify a clear violation of the fleeing felon rule, along with several other laws against killing people.
Guess you didn't see the whole vid. Figures. Why look for what really happened when you can already hang a cop.

What seems to be missing from all this is the protestors calling for the local government to resign like they did in Ferguson.
I wonder why that is?

Are you now aware that at the time you said this you were wrong?
Cans were being thrown not just at vehicles.

Maybe?

Of course they wouldn't.
Why in the world do you think they should jeopardize their source?

:doh

While not indicative of cooperation between the gangs the above image of Blood, Crips and the NOI supports that their may just be.

Then there is stuff like this ...

The only cone I saw swung was on a car. Broke out the side windows.

All part of the "fundamental change" they promised to bring to America. How is everyone liking it.
You cannot tell Baltimore from some third world nation run by war lords now.

This is absolutely despicable. I don't care how mad you are about whatever, instead of killing cops and destroying public property actually be productive citizens. There is a reason why Baltimore is a s*** city, and this is it.

These are not the "productive citizens", nor the people protesting, nor those who wanted to act for actual change. These are thugs and criminals who were just waiting for an opportunity to be bigger thugs and criminals. There are real issues at heart, there are real people at the base who want to work within the system to bring about a better community, but it's all overridden by the gangbangers and kids who think it's cool to be gangbangers. Violence against the police and against private business won't make things better, and the thugs don't want it to be better. They rule when it's bad, when its lawless.

Mornin Crue. :2wave: Only 27 arrests they said this morning.

Well, the mayor believed you have to give some space for those wanting to riot I guess.

I must admit I've only passed round it. But I've seen what some third world nation's look like.

I was there on a business trip years ago. I saw the nice places, and the bad places. Looking for a seafood restaurant, I took a wrong turn and drove down a back road and thought I was seeing an episode of cops being filmed. There were cops everywhere with the perps lined up against the wall. That was back in the 90's.

This is the way mothers used to be:

There was a Black Vietnam Veteran that stood his ground with some young people too. I think CNN talked to him and asked him wasn't he worried about being attacked.

They said he retired as a Master Sergeant. Huah!

Should have swung in and checked it out. No one was exaggerating the damage from 1968 is still visible in some places.
But hey, that's what you get after decades of Democratic rule.

Greetings, Erik. :2wave:

I watched her make her comment, and I couldn't believe my ears! How can that be twisted to mean anything other than what she actually said? She meant what she said - backtracking now is nothing more than self preservation, because she's being called on it! Sheesh!

Re your last paragraph - it looks like another Detroit in the making - is this what the black community in Baltimore wants their future to look like?

The blessings of the Great Society!

I watched the "festivities" on Fox News last night, and the police had withdrawn way back down the street as the looting continued unstopped. Since, the Mayor told the police to stand down and not engage, they followed orders. I bet a whole lot of cops enjoyed that one, knowing full well she would look more and more like the fool she is.

She was way out of her league.

My dad came from Pennsylvania so every summer when we'd make the trek from Virginia back to Pennsylvania, we'd have to drive through Baltimore. What a drudge because that was back before the NJ and PA Turnpikes were built so we had to go through all those towns. There was a heavy concentration of blacks living there in the 1950's in row house after row house. We couldn't get away from that route because it was the only way to PA. I remember when we had to go through there at night, how apprehensive my parents were. That was the 50's, though, and people were more law-abiding back then, unlike today.

Yeah and Jesse Jackson blamed the Baltimore Police for the rioting.....that would be the Baltimore Police made up of a good majority of minorities. Unlike Ferguson. Still it shows how out of touch Jackson is. In that pic I had up.....looks like he was wearing a vest under his suit and shirt.

Also the Pastor at the funeral was calling for Justice.....then when he saw what was happening. Stated that's not what he meant. :doh

I am tired of those religious people of the left always jumping in and looking to use Civil Rights as a reason. They cry about the religious Right getting involved with politics. Time to end that play of theirs.
