Baltimore Police: Gangs Enter Partnership to ‘Take-Out’ Officers [W:99]

This is absolutely despicable. I don't care how mad you are about whatever, instead of killing cops and destroying public property actually be productive citizens. There is a reason why Baltimore is a s*** city, and this is it.

Greetings, humbolt. :2wave:

If I recall correctly, during the riots in the 60s, many people were killed before it ended. During the riots in the 90s that followed the Rodney King beating, Chinese merchants protected their businesses by sitting on their roofs with shotguns to prevent looting and destruction. Does history have to repeat itself before a halt is put to this? Since it has now been termed a "State of Emergency" in Baltimore, can the National Guard be called in?

Yep, all the Governor has to do is.....make the call. Give the order.

I had to look it up.

The past week of protests, riots and heavy-handed police tactic in Ferguson, Missouri after a white officer killed an unarmed black teenager have recalled America's dark history of race riots

Here is a rundown of incidents of racially-charged mayhem that have marked the United States since the 1960s.

- August 11-17, 1965: A routine identity check by police on two black men in a car sparks the Watts riots in Los Angeles, which leave 34 dead, 1,032 injured and cause more than $40 million worth of damage.

The trouble starts when Marquette Frye and his half-brother are stopped by police and taken in for questioning. Several thousand blacks surround the police station and, after a week of arson and looting, the Watts ghetto is all but destroyed.

- July 12-17, 1967: A heated dispute between two white police officers and a black taxi driver sets off rioting in Newark, New Jersey. For five days, in stifling summer heat, rioters wreck the district, leaving 26 dead and 1,500 injured.

- July 23-28, 1967: Race riots in Detroit, Michigan, kill 43 and leave more than 2,000 injured. Trouble spreads to Illinois, North Carolina, Tennessee and Maryland. The death toll in 128 cities nationwide for 1967 is 83 dead.

- April 4-11, 1968: After the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King in Memphis, Tennessee, violence erupts in 125 cities, leaving at least 46 dead and 2,600 injured. In Washington DC, then president Lyndon B. Johnson sends in the 82nd Airborne Division to quell riots.

The Guard is being called in. I remember the 60's riots well. I flew into DC during them, and saw the sky glowing with the fires. I also had a friend who's father was a surgeon in an emergency room in Detroit. Lots and lots of people were shot. Hundreds. This won't reach that level, but it's pretty bad. I'm somewhat familiar with Baltimore - spent some time now and then in the Inner Harbor and immediate downtown area back when I was sailing all the time. Nice area there, but the rest of the city isn't too pleasant - lots of blacks with an intolerant attitude of any not like them. You can see that now.

According to the news, the Governor has now ordered the National Guard to Baltimore!

I hear that peaceful religion, the Nation of Islam, brought the gangs together to attack the police.

Here's what the Baltimore Mayor told the cops. Give the rioters room to destory:

On Saturday, as protests continued to turn ugly, Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake confirmed that the protesters were being given “space” to “destroy.”

“I worked with the police and instructed them to do everything that they could to make sure that the protesters were able to exercise their right to free speech,” the mayor said. "It’s a very delicate balancing act because while we tried to make sure that they were protected from the cars and the other things that were going on, we also gave those who wished to destroy space to do that as well.”

This bitch needs to be removed from office. She's just as guilty as the Nation of Islam.

Yeah, but where are they now? What? Did they just light the fuse and then leave before the fireworks? These race ho's need to be called on to lend a hand at something besides incitement. And while I'm at it, the cops need to tell us what happened to that guy. His spine didn't break all by itself. None of what's happening excuses the thugs, who largely deserve to be shot. However, the somewhat passive police response might indicate that they aren't without blame here. They should've been more forthcoming on the injury to this guy in my view - assuming that they know how something that serious could've happened.

Doesn't look like any of them skips a meal at all.

I wonder abut the reverend there, and the old "do not seek to be teachers in great numbers as well all stumble in many ways". Jesse should fast maybe, get his head cleared, give up some the extra baggage and share some of the $ it took to buy that suit.

For another $50 he could have gotten it to fit.

Jessey Jackson said in Baltimore:

"Rawlings-Blake needs statewide support to lift families out of poverty through jobs, education, mental health clinics and better housing, Jackson said. He said he hoped the protests would help lead to such change."

Jesse Jackson: 'The police wagon became a tomb' - Baltimore Sun

Could it just be possible that a liberal is now suggesting to bring people out of poverty they need jobs. Who would have thought. I mean with a job they can afford better housing and healthcare. Is this a revelation, that maybe, just maybe jobs and not handouts do more for people including the poor. Face it under Obama there are more blacks unemployed than ever before. The liberal solution is more handouts, this is the first cry from a liberal for jobs.

Jesse either needs some education in mental health treatment or needs another high school run ...why would we "lift" people out of mental health treatment?

Sounds like he phoned in a boilerplate rent-a-sermon.

Jesse, I wonder how riots and crime get better mental health care?

Now is there anyone who truly believes Hillary can end racial violence?

No, but I also don't think Jeb Bush can. If that's the sole metric for the next Pres, ain't a candidate out there.

What the ****?

Jeb is not a candidate, Hillary IS.

It's always Bush with the lemmings. Point out one of hillary's incredibly long list of defects and wham! We have to hear about a Bush who isn't yet in the race.

Man, that is so ****ing paranoid

I know Jesse is there, and since he's one of the right's favorite boogeymen the talking points are easy.

But is anybody really comfortable with a nation that allows cops to do these things? Regardless of anyone's race, you've got a citizen that was savagely beaten and killed by the police. That should worry anyone.

Al Sharpton was in studio in New York...offering his commentary (of which I refused to listen to, so I cannot comment on its content).

Then name the Sainted Republican who can. Go ahead, we're waiting.

BTW, Bush will run and he'll be your nominee. If you think otherwise, then we've all given you too much credit for intelligence. When he does run, can he be mentioned? Is it only the right that has untouchables?

That would be frightening, flying into a city in riot.

As a reporter I have been inside one, and covered others. When you're on the job the adrenalin is rushing there is no fear, no contemplation of what might happen, just survive and get the story.

As a private citizen in 2010 I listened all through the night, sirens wailing and wailing, the glow of fires could be seen from my rooftop, the radio reports said one thing and the sky said another.

I have been in a tornado too, one touched down near me in Sarnia, Ontario.

I would rather be in a tornado...

o_O not sure how "credible" credible means, but they should be on high alert as a matter of principle of the situation, not some dubious threat of "gang partnership".

"I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit, its the only way to be sure"

That's what my friend in Baltimore told me today. She said they're scared....

I have family nearby in Annapolis. It's a bad situation all around for everybody except those who are there to cause mayhem.

Heh. I'm with you - I'll take the tornado. I've been in much, much worse, and have a hole to prove it. There's something to be said for the idea that you don't really live until you've faced death - but take it from me, not much. Not much to be said at all.

One of the City Politicians admonished the media for only showing the negative side to the riots...

Huh ? Lol !

He said the Media should do their job and report the facts while standing next to Mayor who said as a matter of policy that they were giving rioters " room to destroy " property.

Wow thats backwards.

I think this is a great opportunity for local community organizers in Baltimore to register people to vote. Clearly, if only more democrats were elected to state and local offices in Baltimore we wouldn't be seeing the liberal base rioting. The white republicans that have been running Baltimore and the state of Maryland for generations are responsible for the inequality and racism that has caused the city to erupt...

Yes people, lets take something that everyone should agree on (maybe not some actions but generally condemn action of the rioters) into a "battle," because just have to attack "liberals."

Here is a massive hint: POLITICS HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH IT. So shut...the ****...up.

Like Chicago. Where the black on black deaths are the highest in the country.

You are familiar with white Baltimore (Inner Harbor and downtown area). Grats you see the band-aid that covers years and years of issues that Baltimore politics has ignored. The actions of today are barely a reflection a African-American community in Baltimore.

You wanna understand why people in Baltimore are pissed? Here are the words of John Angelos (son of Owner of the Orioles). Angelos family understand Baltimore better then most and more then those MSM talking heads who watched "The Wire".

So for everybody arguing and say this or that about those rioting or why they are wrong and so on.. Understand something. You know jack **** about Baltimore and what this is really about. Baltimore politicians don't want to deal with the problems and have ignored them for decades. Freddie Gray just sparked it but the issues are REAL and instead of dealing with it.. the City has allowed things to blow up and are now relying on the National Guard (Military) to solve their problem.
