Senate confirms lynch as attorney general. 10 "republicans" vote for her

Bush was. The press attacked him for being a poor student who got into yale thru "rich boy" affirmative action. Conservatives thus have a right to accuse lynch of getting black AA. Obama and ben carson have already admitted they got it.

Alright, let's assume Ben Carson is a beneficiary of affirmative action. So what? If he was, it's because otherwise an obviously brilliant medical mind, of the 1 in 10,000 or 1 in 100,000 type, couldn't have gotten a fair chance at a career in medicine? Your problem with that is what exactly? Obama may have gotten INTO Harvard Law through affirmative action, but he graduated Magna Cum Laude, editor of Law Review. He accomplished on his own merits more than the VAST majority of his white boy classmates - 'magna' is top 10% of that year's graduates. So why is the route into school relevant?

Liberal racism on display once again. White men should not even be considered for AG. It always has to go to a black and his or her qualifications cannot be challenged.

And by always has to go to a black, you mean "twice in the history of the country" and by 'white men should not be considered' you mean except for every single U.S. Attorney General from 1794 until 1993, 79 of the 83 to date.

Brilliant observations you're making today.

We don't know her grades. As with obozo, the press won't investigate lynch.

Turtledude made a claim that she couldn't have gotten in to her school without being black. I'm asking for evidence of this claim. If he doesn't have any, that's fine, everyone can call him out for the lying partisan that he is.

Shouldn't we call out BO, for saying that this confirmation ENSURES all will be treated equally under the law?

What do you think he's implying by saying that?

Do you think by giving any such confirmation.....that such an action can possibly lead to ensuring all get treated equally? The question isn't about implying.

It sounds like he's saying that by allowing her to be confirmed we are ensuring that nominee's are being treated equally in that they aren't held off forever like what has been done to Loretta Lynch. Do you think by saying "all" he is referring to everyone in the entire country? I'm not sure what part you are having the problem with.

I think this is the quote:

"Today, the Senate finally confirmed Loretta Lynch to be America’s next Attorney General – and America will be better off for it," President Barack Obama said in a statement. "Loretta's confirmation ensures that we are better positioned to keep our communities safe, keep our nation secure, and ensure that every American experiences justice under the law."

First of all, he didn't actually say what you paraphrased him as saying. He said the country is better positioned to do some things. And it's standard fare for this kind of event. Do you expect him to say that his newest appointment positions the country WORSE for keeping communities safe, equal justice, etc.?

Sounds like? What part about the word ensures confuses you?

Note that ending.....And, Ensures that every American experiences justice under the law. Again, just how does this confirmation do that?

No I think he could have just went with.....she is qualified and that she will do the job to the best of her ability. Note, how that works.

If you can't explain what you think he's saying and why you have a problem with it then what are you complaining about? Give an explanation. Spell it out.

Try reading the post above yours and then let it stir around for a few.. It should spell it out for you.

He's saying that she'll ensure that everyone gets treated fairly. Why are you bitching about this? What do you not understand?

And, I said How does the Confirmation by the Senate ensure that. What part didn't you "still" get?

So your mad that he said it "ensures" it rather than "she will ensure"?

How petty does your side have to be to argue over such stupid semantics.

There's a dozen people in here saying shes an affirmative action hire simply cause she's a black female (we've seen no evidence from the thus far) and you're angry over a semantics issue.

Go figure.

Basic grammar requires you to read the ending in context and modified by the introductory clause. So the relevant statement, in context, is this:

"Loretta's confirmation ensures that we are better positioned to ensure that every American experiences justice under the law."

It's a completely unremarkable claim. He's not guaranteeing anything. He says the country, with her, is better positioned to do that list of things:
- keep our communities safe,
- keep our nation secure, and
- ensure that every American experiences justice under the law.

If we as a country aren't better positioned, we're no better or worse positioned. What POTUS would say that for his newest hire? Yeah, she's OK, hope she doesn't make things worse....

Bottom line is you're reaching here. Nothing to see. Politician praises incoming appointment, says she'll make things better. As predictable as night follows day.

What part of "Obama never claims that her confirmation ensures anything" don't YOU get? ;)

Reading is fundamental!

No I am not mad, that's something you make up in your mind when the confusion sets in. Well how petty does your side have to be when you turn the discussion to a poster and what you make up in your mind that Others are doing with what that poster said?

Well I already mentioned that maybe we should get all the Historics out of the way. This way those excuses can all be used up.

And you still won't even say what you find wrong with what he said.

Keep focusing on those important issues.

That's Right reading is Fun and mental......What Happened where did you still get lost?

Loretta's confirmation ensures......snip~

Was that suppose to be a display of that alleged smart power that you thought you had? ;)

Its not me that can't come up with how a Confirmation ensures anything. That's your smart power showing remember?

So you're twisting his words then calling it a lie or something?

He's saying that she will ensure that everyone gets equal shot at justice. If you have a problem with that please state it.

Are you serious??? Are you defending affirmative action. !!!!

Yes, I am. It would be better for whites to go ahead and dismantle their own power structure, but since that is unlikely to happen any time soon, protective measures such as affirmative action are all we have for now.

That's like calling yourself a white-hating racist!!!

lol @ the oxymoron

Obama has to pander to racial spoils. You'd think the king of affirmative action poster children would have gone for competence. She is not the best available attorney in the DOJ

She is not even in the top 500

Comments such as these make me even happier that Lynch was finally nominated. :)

What does that mean?

Share with us her grades, LSATs (if that was a thing back then), maybe her extracurriculars, her essays. Why are you so certain your (obviously HIGHLY qualified) buddies wouldn't have had to associate with this riff raff?

Oh, yeah, she's BLACK! Proof enough I guess... LOL.

And I'm sorry but the double standard for rich white boys is staggering. Ask your friends in Harvard how many of the rich white boys and girls wouldn't have been there if not for rich daddy paving the way for legacy admissions.

In the year she applied to Harvard law-over 1000 white men and 200 or more white women had higher GPA/LSAT scores (and were rejected) than the top scoring black woman.
