Exclusive: Baghdadi no longer in day-to-day control of terror group as he recovers from injuries sustained during attack in March, according to sources

The leader of Islamic State, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, has been seriously wounded in an air strike in western Iraq, sources have told the Guardian.
A source in Iraq with connections to the terror group revealed that Baghdadi suffered serious injuries during an attack by the US-led coalition in March. The source said Baghdadi’s wounds were at first life-threatening, but he has since made a slow recovery. He has not, however, resumed day-to-day control of the organisation.
Baghdadi’s wounding led to urgent meetings of Isis leaders, who initially believed he would die and made plans to name a new leader.
Two separate officials – a western diplomat and an Iraqi adviser – confirmed the strike took place on 18 March in the al-Baaj a district of Nineveh, close to the Syrian border. There had been two previous reports in November and December of Baghdadi being wounded, though neither was accurate.

It is being reported that an airstrike has severely wounded Baghdadi, nearly killed him, and he is no longer in control of ISIS. It is being reported that local ISIS councils are handling the day to day operations of the group now while Baghdadi is slowly recovering.

They'll do their best to replace Him or wait until he recovers.

Good, but not good enough.

Of course, a wounded enemy is better than a dead one that can be left behind.

aside from claiming the caliphate..What does it matter now? There are plenty of Iraqis already running the ISIL army.
It would be a blow, but I don't think it would effect ISIL ops.

So I gather we are still playing wack-a-mole with terrorism. Nothing changes by this. They are simply going to have MORE hatred for us now.

Team BO still says no. No evidence then and none now.

Report: ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was 'seriously wounded' in a March airstrike — Pentagon denies.....

Two officials, one Western and one Iraqi, confirmed to The Guardian that the airstrike targeted multiple cars in the town of Baaj in northwestern Iraq on March 18.

The Pentagon has denied the report. Defense officials told The Daily Beast that the air strike was not aimed at a high-value target and that they "have no reason to believe it was Baghdadi." They said there was no evidence then or since then that Baghdadi was killed.....snip~

Baghdadi has more lives then a cat's 9 lives...

Mornin AT. :2wave: Do you think our people would know if he was alive or dead? Or if seriously wounded?

Well the Caliphate is everything. It can be argued that Islam is still trying to recover from the civil war brought on by the death of Mohammed. The central figure of ISIS is Baghdadi, and if he dies you will see a number of high ranking ISIS mullahs vying for the role of future Caliph. If history is any guide, the competition for succession will not go smoothly.

this is a long but interesting read..the caliphate is and isn't "everything" ..I agree the jihadists need a caliph,
and Baghdadi is perfect for that, but IS would prolly go on without him

eventually yes..he had to come out at Mosul..he has to be public to claim caliph Ibrahim..

But I do thin k he could be replaced now that IS is up and running.. Or more correctly IS has a "life" of it's own

Well, the idea of a regional caliphate is the unifying force for ISIS. If their chosen Caliph dies it will spark a competition for a replacement which will divide ISIS. At that point it will cease to be an effective conquering force.

Is Hillary and Kerry going to drop by his tent and check on him? If they can't get there before the islamo pig dies they'll have to send a dead goat to the funeral.

It might have been Jordan that got this FUTB?

Let's hope that he survives with at least one arm and part of a leg.

Oh yeah.....that comes worrying about the Awakening. So they have been preparing for when heads fall. Their Shura Council will move quickly to name another.

While Hillary is there holding the guy's bloody stub she may ask for the job after all the trouble that she is in here at home.

that would be logical.
But from what I've read in that piece the power structure is so diffused, and parallel -no matter the titular head
it's going to go on.
I do agree that killing Baghdadi would cause real spasms..maybe "degrade" it back to the level of an AQI insurgency..

Obama can go spike the football and declare victory just like after he personally killed OBL.
