The cop who wouldn’t shoot: Bodycam video shows Ohio officer holding fire as murder s

Re: The cop who wouldn’t shoot: Bodycam video shows Ohio officer holding fire as murd

There was no independent video to corroborate the bodycam account (which police depts. can easily doctor).

We just don't know what happened, so it's silly to draw conclusions.

... you think they doctored the video.... because he DIDN'T shoot? Really?

Re: The cop who wouldn’t shoot: Bodycam video shows Ohio officer holding fire as murd

Next time this cop does that, he'll likely be killed.

Re: The cop who wouldn’t shoot: Bodycam video shows Ohio officer holding fire as murd

He didn't shoot because he didn't want to have his life ruined by media sharks and community activists (mostly race baiters) who prefer prejudging someone before knowing the entire story.

If that's what caused him to temper his actions, then well, whatever works. I don't think it's fair to remove his bravery and rational thinking from the equation, however.

Re: The cop who wouldn’t shoot: Bodycam video shows Ohio officer holding fire as murd

For the record, I would have shot the guy in the leg.

We don't need to see a video to prove that he didn't shoot; that's obvious because the suspect has no bullet wounds.

But the videos released by police depts. from their bodycams are not credible (or at least, complete) accounts of police encounters, because those depts. can easily edit those videos to yank out stuff that incriminates them. Cops have always hated video recordings of their actions, so one would have to be a total dork to believe that they would willingly allow footage of their activity to get w/out it being selectively censored.

There was no independent cam/surveillance footage and I haven't heard of any witness accounts, so we don't know the remaining details.

Re: The cop who wouldn’t shoot: Bodycam video shows Ohio officer holding fire as murd

...contrast that officer's attitudes, demeanor and commitment to duty (serve and protect) to cops that shoot people in the back as they run away and you have meaning to the phrase "Good Cop, Bad Cop".

Problem is some judge all by the bad officers.

You're quite ignorant of the situation. This cop

1) had dashcam footage
2) of the perp charging at him
3) who was identified as a threat previously

He was completely justified in shooting. As opposed to the stories of other individuals not charging police and in a few instances actually retreating from police but still getting shot. To try and excuse the previous protests as "police shot a guy and folks are angry about it" shows that you're ignoring many of the actual details of past events to fit your own narrative. That's intellectually lazy but I see your lean is "VERY CONSERVATIVE" so I'm not even surprised.

I'm fine with what I saw tbh.

That's true. This cop SHOULD have shot the perp. I think in private he'll get dressed down for this.

Should have shot him? Pffft, ever been in a shoot dont shoot situation? Probably not. So your opinion is worthless.

Re: The cop who wouldn’t shoot: Bodycam video shows Ohio officer holding fire as murd

Is he dead?

We were discussing how we would view the officer had he ended up dead after not shooting a known murderer.

When I hear about an officer killed in the line of duty I never thought "Shew, at least he didn't kill the suspect!"

Re: The cop who wouldn’t shoot: Bodycam video shows Ohio officer holding fire as murd

I applaud the police officer for showing restraint. :applaud

Re: The cop who wouldn’t shoot: Bodycam video shows Ohio officer holding fire as murd

Uncommonly brave of him, given that he was dealing with a possibly-armed murder suspect.

I would have shot him...

especially when he was still advancing as the officer fell back.

I probably would have also. That's why I said "uncommonly brave".

At least, I HOPE it was uncommon bravery.... rather than a lack of moral courage.

I think he did right by backing up, trying to talk him down, whatever, when it became a backwards running reverse chase, that's when he should have pulled the trigger.

wanted fo suspicion of a double homicide? He chose poorly and is lucky to be alive.

So here it is....When these other highly publicized cop v unarmed black man were blown in to full meme's, the outcry was for bodycams. Now you have a situation where a bodycam is in place, and as discussion goes, the talk of 'what if's' comes out. That is where your true self is exposed young lady....You don't really want police exonerated in any way what so ever...Hell, they can't do right when they shoot thugs that threaten the community, and they can't do right when they don't shoot while on bodycam...Just what the hell is your problem with police?
