Aaron Hernandez guilty of murder

Wed April 15, 2015

Former New England Patriots' star Aaron Hernandez nodded no as jurors in his Massachusetts trial found him guilty Wednesday of first degree murder, which carries a penalty of life imprisonment without the possibility of parole.
Hernandez was also found guilty of unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition. The May 28 start of another trial that Hernandez had faced -- on two murder counts tied to an incident in 2012 -- has been moved, said Suffolk County, Massachusetts, district attorney's spokesman Jake Wark. Wark said he expects that trial will be rescheduled "in the coming days."

Hernandez was on trial for the shooting death of Odin Lloyd, whose body was found in a Massachusetts industrial park in June 2013. Lloyd's family appeared anxious in the Fall River, Massachusetts, courtroom prior to the verdict, as did the mother of Hernandez. After the verdict, Lloyd's relatives thanked and embraced members of the prosecution team.
The trial judge has sentenced Hernandez to life in prison without parole. Good enough.

That's the mandatory sentence.

Now, he's got another trial for a double-homicide that supposedly is more open-and-shut than this case was.

What a stupid move to destroy such a successful career and good life.

Quite so. But this was kind of a "no duh" sort of thing. Well, he can rot in jail for the rest of his life then, serves him right.

He was always like this. His teammates were afraid of him at Florida.

More than a thug, a psychopath.

Enjoy the rest of your life in a 6 x 8

On a side note, the NFL has announced a 4 game suspension to be served concurrently and the NFLPA announced an appeal to both.

Well, there's always Andy DuFresne in Zihuatenajo to look forward to in 60 years.

Oops, no chance of parole. My bad.

Yes, and there are civil suits too, one by the former friend who claims Hernandez shot his right eye out. From ABC:

Suffolk Superior Court Judge Jeffrey Locke has not set a date for the Boston trial after delaying it until the Lloyd case was over.

Hernandez also faces civil lawsuits from the families of the men he is accused of killing. And he was sued by Alexander Bradley, a former friend who says Hernandez shot him in the face and left him for dead in an industrial park in Florida after arguing with him in February 2013.

No tight end jokes? You folks are slipping...

That is not good enough. If he did it, he should be killed.

Humans can adjust and find happiness in prison, especially if they know there's no chance of ever getting out. It's not 60 years of misery as people imagine, particularly for a psychotic mind.

That's why I hate sentences like this. The death penalty is warranted.
