And here we go again:

The San Bernardino County, California, Sheriff's Office opened two investigations Thursday only hours after an NBC Los Angeles helicopter recorded deputies using a stun gun on a man on a stolen horse and then beating him repeatedly.

In the video, a sheriff's helicopter can be seen landing next to the man, who falls off the horse and is stunned by one of the deputies. Two deputies begin punching him in the head and kneeing him in the groin. Then, three others arrive and join in the pummeling, which lasts about two minutes.

The sheriff's office identified the man in a statement as Francis Jared Pusok, 30, of Apple Valley. It said Pusok was being treated at a hospital for undisclosed injuries.

The rest of the story and indeed disturbing video of an unarmed man, tasered with his hands folded on his back being assaulted by several police officers without there being an obvious justification for such violence, can be found here:

It is again disturbing to see and I would assume one or more of these officers need to find themselves new jobs outside of law enforcement because from what we see here does not shout "competent police officer".

Seems like they tried to kill or maim the suspect there.

Have to wonder if any of them will be charged.

Horse theft used to mean a death penalty back in the day, seems like this guy got off easy

A lot of things used to be punished by death, horse theft however is not one of those crimes in this day and age that carries that punishment.

Also, that punishment is for a judge to decide, not a couple of civil rights violating police officers who think they can beat the hell out of a man who has already given up. Maybe later the tried to protect himself from the onslaught of boots and hands but after the taser, he is on his belly with his hands on his back. All the officer had to do was slap the cuffs on the man and move him off to jail. Now they have violated that man's right in a manner that seems at odds with the law and with civil liberties.

American police are going crazy, out of interested how many of your Police force are Iraq/Afghan war Vets?

The problem is....juries keep letting cops walk despite this stuff being caught on tape. When juries send the message that they will look the other way, it creates an air of invincibility with bad cops. They believe that they are above the law and are free to engage in any misconduct that they want...and why shouldn't they?.....juries will never hold them accountable.

I find that bad cops are generally the minority. I haven't seen or heard of any incidents around here involving cops in a WHILE.

You just have to remember that stupid people always get the spotlight.

You are right, the jury system is letting them sometimes get away with murder, but often letting them get away with a violating people's civil and legal rights (by beating the hell out of them).

The jury system has it's benefits on the one hand, but it has serious problems that allow criminals to get away with serious crimes because of hung juries and making very very bad decisions.

Maybe a mix would be wise like in Germany where one or two lay persons are added to a panel of judges.

I agree that bad cops are in the minority, but until we stop giving the bad cops a pass we still need to "out" the bad cops whenever they're caught stepping over the line.

No doubt, but I was responding to this Brit who seemed to think that all the cops in the USA are getting rabies or something.

The cops didn't start striking the guy until he put his hands behind his back while laying on the ground. Such cowards.

first he was tasered, then he put his hands against his back and the police officers where with first 2, then 4, then 6 or 7. And you are right, cowardly.

I just saw this video on the news. WTF?

One of the cops kicked him right between the legs and then they all piled on and beat on him.

IMO it was a bunch of hot tired cops that were pissed they had to chase the guy on foot.

No excuse, no excuse at all.

Of course, if he had stolen my horse, and I caught up with him first, they would have found that somehow, he broke his neck when he fell off.

Just, once again, proof that it's not 'guns' that are the problem in the US...but violence. And that violence has clearly infected the police. :(

Wtf!! Bad cops certainly weren't in the minority in this video. Every single one of the pos that ran up started kicking and punching the guy, who's on the ground, on his face, with his hands behind his back. Law enforcement in America is indeed out of control.

The horse got injured. Why did that asshole steal the horse? He's lucky it wasn't my horse he stole and who was injured because of his idiocy. I'd have kicked him in the nuts myself.

AHAHAHHAHAHHA!!! Great minds.

They used to hang Horse thieves.

This guy got off EZ.

And no there's no similarities to what happened to this crook and what happened in South Carolina.

No, hanging horse thieves was ridiculous when it happened, also, we are not living the wild west anymore. The US is a country of justice so he did not get off EZ, he was beaten half to death by a few POS bad apples of cops. Most cops might be good officers but these officers are scum.

And there is a similarity, in both cases cops go mad and commit crimes and commit police brutality.

Screw him.

The POS was the jackass crook that ripped off someones property in a attempt to allude the Police.

You're not going to get any sympathy from me. He's a low life and he'll survive that beating to rip someone else off another day.

Good, then please never complain when it happens to a family member of yours or to you. There is no excuse of validity for police brutality.

That's wonderful. Not one single point of which justifies or excuses what happened here.

And I wouldn't fault the horse's owner for kicking the guy's ass. I DO fault law enforcement officers for doing it.
