Tsarnaev guilty in Boston bombing

I agree that this was going to be the result. There was no way he was going to walk away from this a free man. Now it's time to decide whether to put him to death or not.

I say kill him!

Well, killing him isn't going to bring anyone back, so why, exactly?

Definetly, doubt it will work

Maybe not, but I think that life in prison as I described it will be more of a punishment.

I thought terrorists couldn't be tried on U.S. soil or something. Isn't that one of the many rationales for why guantanamo is still open?

I am totally against the death penalty for ANY crime.

Add in the fact the guy was a stupid teenager at the time of the shootings...throw him in solitary for life.

Killing him is just revenge and revenge is for the weak, imo.

Tsarnev is found guilty and guilty of the charges that carry the death penalty. The penalty phase should be (I would assume) be seeking the death penalty, though I do not believe Mass. has executed someone since the 1940's.
He's Guilty? That's like saying the sky, is blue or water is wet...

Lock the idiot up for life with no possibility of parole and be done with it. Close the door and throw away the key, done and dusted.

He committed terrorism and needs to be punished accordingly.

Whenever I start to think that the death penalty is too much for this animal I think of one thing, Martin Richard. I hope that little lad haunts his dreams until his last day....

You actually prefer that a convicted terrorist who killed 4 people (2 of whom were children) get 3 hots and a cot for the rest of his life on the taxpayer dime?

There was no need to spend millions on a trial that lasted for weeks when he admitted to it. Probably been better off if he just got sentenced right after the charges were filed.

Millions?

Good. Hope he dies soon.

Ah yes, a dreamless sleep. That'll show him. I know I would rather be put out of my misery than spend a lifetime behind bars. But that is me. He is obviously trying to avoid the death penalty.

Not surprising there. The big thing will be sentencing. I think life in prison without the possibility of parole is appropriate.

I don't believe in state-sponsored revenge killing, so yes.

I'd prefer that he spend the rest of his long life making little rocks out of big rocks in the hot desert sun.

And I'm not a fan of the death penalty in any case.

I'm sure he will enjoy taking his showers

No doubt.

I'm guessing in reality he goes to one of those supermax prisons and gets what amounts to solitary confinement for the rest of his days. I can't imagine he'd last long if he's left with other prisoners.

Actually he attempted to cop a plea to avoid the death penalty. When that was refused, he still had a right to a trial. He did not waive that right.

You are probably right

Well, it's currently cheaper to do so and I think he'd suffer more punishment that way, amongst Americans who probably dont appreciate his cowardly and antiAmerican actions.

Because some crimes merit permanent removal from the gene pool.

He wont be breeding where he's going, death penalty or not.

Twenty years from now there'll be liberals marching in the streets with signs that say, "Free Tsarnev ".

What I heard points to Supermax-Florence, Colorado. He will be able to talk to the "shoe bomber", Terry Rudolph and maybe, if he is lucky, Terry Nichols.

I might be, although not for Tsarnev specifically. No prison sentence should last longer than 20 years, and if you can't get someone executed in 20 years let them out.

I hope he gets death.

There are some that cannot be rehabilitated and some that can never be trusted in society again.

You are welcome to your opinion but in my opinion, for the protection of society, of course there should be prison sentences that are 'for the remainder' of someone's life.
