Starbucks to give workers full ride for college

I'm guessing Arizona State University and it's online education programs are partially subsidized by taxpayers in state and federally, but I agree with your take on this.

I also agree it is good business practice both for Starbucks and for the university. But we shouldn't assume that this is a unique program to Starbucks. These types of business sponsored or supported education programs go on in lots of large and medium sized corporations.

Oh I know that tuition reimbursement isn't unique to Starbucks, but most companies who offer it aren't as widely known or as widespread as Starbucks and don't hire 16 year olds, and require that you work for them for a certain number of years after earning your degree.

You're right though about the tax money going to a state university like ASU. State tax money for certain goes to them, don't know about federal.

I feel that they should be less but that still seems insane to me, I pay 8000$/year in tuition to physically attend my university and in province people pay less than I do.

Well if you are saying that college/university tuition in the U.S. is insane, I agree with you, but that's for another thread.

Eeeek...an Online College Degree ?

Well he is right, it is an 'online degree', but it is through Arizona State University, so it is the same curriculum as if you physically went to ASU, and it is the same degree, no distinction between brick & mortar and online.

I think earning a college degree online is a great innovation. I don't understand the stigma that some people attach to it.

It is a quality degree from a quality university, it is not like the scam for profit colleges.

ASU has some amazing programs, law school, business school, and is the home of some of the best planetary geology programs and home base for much of the Mars rover operations. And, it is home to one of the most brilliant physicists in the nation, Laurence Krauss. Most universities have online programs now...it is how the world works.

Hey, you don't have to convince me brother, I totally agree! Technology is great, and universities offering degree programs online is a great thing!
