The lost tomb of Jesus? Scientist claims he has virtually unequivocal evidence[W:577]

Re: The lost tomb of Jesus? Scientist claims he has 'virtually unequivocal evidence'

What a mean spirited post.

Do all atheists hate?

When are you going to realize that you're an atheist, in respect to every other god you have and haven't heard of. We just take it one god further.

Good bye.

Spring change

I wonder if I should become a redhead this year? Might be fun, but I won't know till I try, will I? :lamo:

I saw a rather plain woman yesterday, attractive but not gorgeous. She had a multi-tone job of some blonde, some red and variations on them. It must have been very expensive.

In any event I almost tripped myself with my own walking stick watching the other women watch her! Se went from good to look at to can't take your eyes off.

Go red, go red...you only live once.

I want to die my beard....purple or something

Re: The lost tomb of Jesus? Scientist claims he has 'virtually unequivocal evidence'

Wow! Stunning....If this is reviewed, and verified, what, and how do you see this effecting Christianity? Especially considering the open attack it is under today?

Christianity isn't under attack. 80% of the US is Christian, 11% Unaffiliated, 4% Jewish/Hindu/Unitarian/Budhist, 4% atheist and 0.6% Muslim.

I think you have to have freckles if you're a red head. I have some I'll loan you if you need them. Oh. Wait. On closer inspection, they're liver spots. Never mind.

I've been a brunet with a silver streak (genetic), all my life (that's why I chose Polgara to represent me), so I might have to relocate, since most would probably decide that either I've finally gone over the edge and become weird, or I'm trying to make some kind of statement. If my friends howl with laughter, and some doubtless will, it might be worthwhile either way! :lamo: I could buy one of those turban things studded with rhinestones if I have to, I guess..... then I could be accused of being an attention whore, too. Look at the world of possibilities that would open to me...it might be worth it just to discourage boring hum-drummery in people's lives for a while!

If I can find some wicked paste-on long black eyelashes, no one will be wondering about freckles! Hmmm - I might start a trend....

If they are laughing they are not friends.

Look, every day we make a statement. I walk in a kilt [or used to] I am making a statement and yes, some men howl with derision and then go home to dinner for one and some "reality television".
I also live in one of the most up-scale, tony neighborhoods on the west coast of North America, think Soho with a beach. And the women here all seem to figure yoga pants, tied back unwashed hair and sneakers are sexy as that is all we see as they ply the mini Rodeo drive of maternity shops that line my main drag.

I see a woman who has taken the time to stand out a bit, wear some sexy shoes and do their hair, anywhere between 18 to 80 and I look...not only is it rare, but nice.

I was noticing yesterday that at least half the cars on the street are grey or silver, and more than that if you include the grey-blue cars. Even though it is spring, there is very little color and the dress shops are all showing whites and blacks.

We get one shot at this thing called life. Some of us have screwed the pooch so bad they had to start over, but damn, had some awesomely "interesting" times. Those who get that second chance usually have a certain "**** it" attitude, like when the daughter of a friend suggested we print "left" and "right" on my sneakers.....and got it wrong and I wore them anyway [which allowed me to tell her story, a Downs Syndrome kid].

Be different is more necessary now than ever before, You have an edge, you have a silver streak, so build on that, go red or whatever, as long as it's you. And you know what is "you" when you are so comfortable with it you don't care what people say..like when I shaved my head.

Re: The lost tomb of Jesus? Scientist claims he has 'virtually unequivocal evidence'

The only thing that can effect Christianity and Islam is to prove that Jesus in fact was an alien and that aliens exist.

Re: The lost tomb of Jesus? Scientist claims he has 'virtually unequivocal evidence'

There are no eyewitness accounts known to exist. There is no corroboration of any of his narrative from outside the gospels. Sorry if my grammar confused you.

The Gospels were eyewitness accounts.

Re: The lost tomb of Jesus? Scientist claims he has 'virtually unequivocal evidence'

Not even close. Written after Jesus' death.

So Peter directly passing down his eyewitness accounts to Mark wouldn't qualify as a eyewitness account ?

As an example I could give eyewitness accounts of things my Grandfather did 30 years ago to my son.

Does that make those accounts false ?

When one is discussing supernatural events that have never been seen to occur ever in the history of mankind provably, you're damned right those eyewitness accounts are troublesome.

Indubitably 30 years later there would be inaccuracies, and that's the point. This has been tested and proven many times throughout history. And not only that, until the Protestant reformation, and better publishing abilities, the corrupt Catholic Church was in control of the "scriptures" and their duplication. Dubious at best.

Re: The lost tomb of Jesus? Scientist claims he has 'virtually unequivocal evidence'

The Gospels were eyewitness accounts.

Actually, they weren't. The first gospel to be written was Mark at about 70AD, followed by Matthew and Luke in the 80's or 90's.

The first actual Christian writings were by Paul, 1 Thessalonians 51AD, Philippines and Philemon 52-54AD, 1 Corinthians 53-54AD, Galatians 55AD, 2 Corinthians 55-56AD, and Romans 56-58AD.

Do you understand what 'eyewitness' means? Receiving information from someone *supposedly* an eyewitness to an event doesn't make one an eyewitness. Does it make them inherently false? No. But it casts room for doubt.

We know the natural order of life and death. A resurrection is not part of that. So more is needed than someone saying 'yeah, he rose from the dead' and telling to someone who wrote it 50+ years later. Tell me, do you think all of the gospels are overlap?

Re: The lost tomb of Jesus? Scientist claims he has 'virtually unequivocal evidence'

Religion began when a monkey looked up at the sun, turned to the other monkeys and said " He ( the Sun ) said you must give me half of your bananas. And they believed.

hearsay (n.) - the report of another person's words by a witness, usually disallowed as evidence in a court of law.

This doesn't make it incorrect, but in modern times it makes it inadmissible as evidence. And it certainly isn't the same as an eyewitness account.

Re: The lost tomb of Jesus? Scientist claims he has 'virtually unequivocal evidence'

There is no attack on Christianity, especially in the West. To say so is delusional.

"If you like your plan, you can keep your plan. Period."

"I never said that, what I said was you can keep your plan until the insurance companies change it"

Delusional defined...your leader

Atheist, wow big jump from what I said to that, First I'm not a Atheist, I'm a Christian but not in the same mold as you and I find it a hoot that you think your way is the only way.

Love speaks the truth - that gay sex is a sin and those sinners need to repent or perish (Luke 13:3).

"Love does not rejoice in iniquity." - 1 Corinthians 13

And "Love does no harm to a neighbor" (Romans 13), like enticing one's neighbor into a sinful relationship for which there are negative temporal and eternal consequences.

So nice try on the gay/ 'love' bit.

Tell them the truth.

I believe your dating is wrong for the Gospels and eyewitnesses. Here's a more scholarly view on that:

A Chronological Order of The New Testament Books

All dates within the probable lifetimes of the Gospel authors and eyewitnesses.

Also, the earliest mention of the resurrection was likely less than a decade after the event.

Earliest Mention of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ « The Righter Report

That is not an eyewitness account as you didn't witness it. It's hearsay. It doesn't necessarily mean it's false, but it's not eyewitness. Ever play that game "telephone"? Messages become garbled over many retellings. That's why many of the old stories, before printing was a viable thing, were put to song.
