Jeb Bush admitted Monday that he made a "mistake" in 2009 when he listed his ethnicity in a Miama-Dade County voter-registration form as "Hispanic."

Does anyone have any idea why he did this? I don't believe that he gained anything by it, so maybe it was just a simple mistake.

He had an Elizabeth Warren moment.

Elizabeth Warren was just wrong. Bush flat out made a mistake. And neither of them had any ill intent whatsoever and neither gained anything from the errors.

Warren probably grew up with some people in the family telling her she has some Native American blood. She probably didn't question it or look into it. If someone asks me if I am related to anyone famous I have always said Robert E. Lee because my grandmother always told me that. But to be honest, maybe she is wrong. She was into geneology so if I were a betting man I would bet she is right, but I also wouldn't be shocked if it turned out to be untrue. I have never really given it much thought until now. If it turns out my grandmother was wrong does that mean I was lying all those years?

Bush just checked the wrong box. I wouldn't vote for the guy but I also don't think he is an idiot. He knows he would have absolutely nothing to gain from doing that and he would know for a fact he would be called out on it. WE ALL KNOW HIS PARENTS. :)

That's probably the best spin that he could put on this.

I haven't done any research but I don't see how this could have helped him.

I can't perceive any benefit to it. But at the same time, that's a really difficult mistake to make.

Since Hispanic is not an ethnicity, why do they have that on the form?
Sometimes it seems that the poverty pimps would like to subdivide people into as many
classifications as possible. I thought we were working towards a more color blind society?

It was probably a mistake. This is not a scandal or a controversy.

I don't think checking a box on a single voter registration form equates to the lore Warren has spoken about.

Is Elizabeth Warren Native American or What?

Is Elizabeth Warren the subject of this thread?
Conservatives will always rally to one of theirs with diversions rather than discuss the topic of this thread.

And it will be Bush's fellow GOPs who will trash him most on this, by far--due to his views on comprehensive immigration reform.
DEMs can't run against Bush's Hispanic credentials in the general, because he is 'normal' on the issue of CIR .

Take it up with posters 3, 4, and 5.

No conspiracy, just simply as incompetent as his brother :D
