Precautions following 911 are exactly what caused the pilot to not be able to enter the cockpit. The doors were armored and a locking system was installed. It functioned perfectly. It was not supposed to protect the aircraft from the pilots.
It sure didn't work here, did it? It was also foreseeable that one of the pilots himself could be a threat, either because he was a jihadist or just mentally unbalanced. I don't accept that it was necessary to allow this situation to prevent a 9/11-style hijacking. I think there were--and are--ways to prevent both.
