Bowe Bergdahl, once missing U.S. soldier, charged with desertion

Pointing at the other party when you've got nothing else to argue makes you look like you don't have an argument. You've already admitted that Republicans want to play gotcha with Obama on this issue. How do you feel about it? :)

What you must be joking.....this guy has more failures and scandals jumping off than any other in history. Moreover there is that ethics problem the left usually carries around with them.

Now some of the **** is starting to stick to him.....so ask yourself that question on how does it feel. Oh, and to know its going to get worse.

You don't think that BS you are talking about will change anything about those differences in ideology, did you?

What you must be joking

I'm dead serious. Obama did everything he could to bring back the person Republicans were asking be brought back. Now Republicans want to lynch Obama for doing everything he could to achieve that. You admitted it was a catch-22 for Obama and Republicans would complain regardless. Now you're trying to point at the left like "they do it too" and I don't care much for it. I'm pointing out that Republicans are being demonstrably hypocritical in regards to this issue. Do you have anything else to add other than the fact that Republicans are being hypocrites as it concerns this issue? :)

Who cares it changes nothing with politics nor the ideologies.....and if Bo Peep broke the law it comes out over an issue just like this. Then that catches him up for what he has done. Leaving him no where to hide.

All the while you blame Republicans for being hypocrites. Tell us how that Smart power works again?

True, however that doesn't mean they can't be called hypocrites for creating such an obvious "catch-22". Do you believe Republicans are being hypocrites? It's a simple question. :)

No, I believe some of them actually use political tactics and strategy to manipulate others.

So now that you called them hypocrites and they call you and yours hypocrites. Where does that leave things other than who would sell out the country first.

Oh and that tilts left. Citizen of the world, open borders, etc etc....so you can see how that is viewed, huh?

Oh, I agree. I just find it incredibly funny that now everyone is calling for Obama's head when a multitude of Republicans bashed Obama for not doing everything he could to bring the guy back. Obama did everything he could, and it brought results. Continuing to bash Obama over doing what Republicans wanted just makes them look hypocritical.

If, as President of the United States, you are going to enter into an agreement with a terrorist group to retrieve a missing soldier it might be a good idea to get the real story BEFORE you act. While this may well have been a secret to the press there is no way in hell it should have been a secret to the Pentagon or the White House.

I don't recall that anyone from either Party was saying much about Bergdahl one way or another at the time, since we didn't know what the story was. Most of the complaints and questions at the time were about why President Obama swapped five high-ranking terrorists for him. I still haven't read the answer for that, by the way, because a one-for-one swap would have made more sense to people. Then we read that the terrorists were to stay in the country they were deported to, but they didn't even do that, but left at will. That was the icing on the cake for most people, since those terrorists, in effect, gave this Country the one-finger salute in gratitude for giving them their freedom! Nice, huh? :2mad:

Does the Soldier get a trial before a life sentence?
We really need a sarcasm color. The colours here for sarcasm well, being polite, suck.
I propose Magenta.

Oh yeah they did Lady P.....some even changed what they had said originally as the issue dragged out.

News of the desertion charges thrusts the administration's terrorist-releasing policies back into the spotlight, raising fresh questions:

Before he was released from a U.S. maximum-security prison last week, a confessed al Qaeda sleeper agent was offered up in a potential prisoner swap that would have freed two Americans held abroad. The Daily Beast has learned that the proposal was floated in July 2014 to the then-U.S. ambassador in Qatar by an individual acting on behalf of that country’s attorney general. According to two individuals with direct knowledge of the case, the proposition was made shortly after the Obama administration traded five Taliban fighters for Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl. Those fighters were also sent to Qatar, where they’re to remain under government watch until later this year. U.S. officials have said they’re at risk of plotting further attacks against the United States. The proposed swap involving the al Qaeda agent, Ali Saleh Al-Marri, raises troubling questions about whether the Bergdahl trade opened a kind of Pandora’s box, signaling to foreign governments that they can pressure the United States to make concessions on terrorism by trading American prisoners abroad for dangerous extremists held in the United States.....snip~

That's about as dishonest an attack as you will find anywhere.

That's like you being told a little girl from Virginia was kidnapped by terrorists, and you demanding that the government meet the demands of the terrorists to get her released, only to find out when they did meet the demands, that the kidnappers were actually her father and grandparents, she was never kidnapped, was never in danger, and the government knew that was her father and his family the entire time but never bothered to tell anyone.

Geez... Why is it that so many progressives like you willingly lie and exaggerate to attack the people you disagree with politically? Is your ideology really that shallow and weak that fooling people has become necessary in order for your beliefs to gain acceptance?

Obama treated this guy like a returning hero....It seems his true color shows every day....Why can't you lefties see it?

LOL....until you got your FoxNews talking points, you were all over here condemning Obama for not bringing him home sooner. What a difference a day makes in the right-wing world.

The DOD had not issued any charges of desertion on him until NOW. Until he was convicted of desertion...its our duty to bring ALL our servicemen and women home.

Sad that people can't get this.

whats really sad.. is a president can use outright disinformation to trick the country into a war (costing billions of dollars and thousands of lives) knowing full well that the information was wrong. and some turn a blind eye..

But then they go bat crap crazy because the next president brings a soldier back..and after brining him back.. the doj charges that one soldier with desertion..

No wonder this country is screwed up... no perspective at all...

How, exactly, was Bergdahl treated like a "returning hero"?

my god what a story this would be if a Republican had been duped into such a trade. the media would already have a name for it. but for Obama you can almost HEAR this story being SWEPT under the rug.

Ah, the old "Argument By Hypothetical" routine.

They won't kill the sumbitch. However, this does put the lie to a lot of Obama's pronouncements - we knew it all along. Now we can see it in the form of Bergdahl. The guy's a traitor, but to hear some tell it, only republicans can see that. I'll just take that as an admission of the abject stupidity of some on the left.

"Desertion" and "treason" are not synonyms.

How it is being swept under the rug. It is all over the media. It is in giant letters across the CNN website right now.

Come on, you know better. The mainstream media NEVER reports on anything that might be construed as negative for Obama, except, of course, when they do.

Ah, the old "Argument By Hypothetical" routine.

Bergdahl's own GOP Representative from Idaho, Raul Labrador, not only defended him but went after the rest of Idaho's GOPs for trashing Bergdahl .

Then it would appear that Mr. Labrador owes a lot of people apologies.

But...but " he served with distinction and honor " !!

LOL !! How embarrassing. Your post and Susan Rice's statements. Obama letting 5 terrorist loose was just disgusting..

Only it isn't. Republicans want to lynch Obama for doing what they asked be done. The proof is in their words. Not parsing what you think they said.

No, I believe some of them actually use political tactics and strategy to manipulate others.

There is no political tactic and strategy here. They actively called for Berghdal to be brought using any available means. Then, they changed their minds. As you said: Catch-22.

He was representing his constituent.
And surely he didn't know all that we know now.
And the Congressman has long been a most conservative GOP .
Then it would appear that Mr. Labrador owes a lot of people apologies.

Seriously ? People want to LYNCH the President ??
