Ted Cruz going on Obamacare

The worst option to provide healthcare...or any other consumer product...to all is to use the government.

I will never tire of socialists being against monopolies and somehow in support of government monopolies.

Yes, because the majority of countries currently doing it are failing miserably
What other alternative do you have then the government to provide healthcare to everyone?

Fair enough, but I still say Johnson was a bigger asshole than Nixon.

He probably was, but I'd say Nixon was probably a bigger asshole than Clinton or Obama.

Government monopolies? Caring for other humans shouldn't be a business.

Government monopolies? Caring for other humans shouldn't be a business.

Yeah, doctors and nurses should just work for rainbows and sunshine.

I'm talking about private healthcare industries, not individual employees who get paid either way. Come on now, you know that's not what I meant.

Government monopolies? Caring for other humans shouldn't be a business.

Oh joy, now you believe the government cares. The government is not in the caring business no matter what your socialists friends tell you.

The best option to provide healthcare to all is to use the government, your talking about others providing it, I don't see how anyone is forced apart from "taxes" being used by the government on various programs.

No, I'm talking about people providing it.

It does seem to care, I'd like to put my merits on elected officials who push for programs to help others, maybe some don't care, but the care given by the government would certainly trump privatized healthcare, just look at almost every European country with UHC.

Personal choice, personal responsibility, individual compassion and a free market.

You are right up until Obama. Obama is the Democrat embodiment of Nixon.

So only Democratic Presidents are assholes.
How does that square with you saying that you are not a GOP?

How do you feel about the current House taking parts of Defense back off budget again?
I'm assuming you're down with this asshole move perfected by co-Presidents Cheney/Bush .

Really? Obama is the biggest asshole this country has elected since Clinton, which was the biggest asshole this country elected since Johnson. To be fair though, no one can possibly be a bigger asshole than Johnson.

buying on the open market would mean no employer contribution... he'd be paying 100% of the premiums
or he'd run with the employer-based insurance and pay 25% of his premiums....

Why yes, getting subsidied insurance through an exchange *is* the smart thing to do. Thing is, Cruz has been running his mouth off for some time about how awful it is that so many people have to buy through the exchange and get a subsidy.

How is it so awful for others to buy through the exchange but smart when he does it? How does that work?

I know his opposition will give him hell over it...and that's fine.
the dude should cover his family in the most economically responsible way available to him...which is exactly what the people who are giving him hell do.

Why yes, it *is* the most economically responsible option available to him. *That's* the point - for all his whining about how bad it is that millions are being "forced" to buy on the exchange and get a subsidy, his own actions show that this "awful choice" is the most economically responsible choice available for millions of americans.

at the end of the day, there's nothing wrong with opposing something and still taking part in it when it is the best option available.... it does, however, make for great political theater.

Yes, the exchanges *are* "the best option available"

So why does he whine about how millions are being "forced" to buy there? How is it that when they choose "the best option available" it's a forced decision, but when he makes a similar choice its "the best option available"?

Ok, so give me the name of someone in government that you think cares for the poor and needy.

Well, I couldn't think of any republican asshole presidents off the top of my head. :3oops:

That's not an alternative to provide healthcare to everyone.

It is much better than any government solution...especially considering those non-monetary costs I mentioned. (that you conveniently chose to ignore)

Heck, Obamacare can't even provide everyone with healthcare.

Really? Obama is the biggest asshole this country has elected since Clinton, which was the biggest asshole this country elected since Johnson. To be fair though, no one can possibly be a bigger asshole than Johnson.

Well most people personally like Obama and Clinton, as well as Reagan, Carter, Ford, and both Bushes. Sure some people hate them, but most people like them personally even if they don't like their policies. We hardly ever elect people we think are assholes. Basically you got Nixon and LBJ, but LBJ only because he was Kennedy's VP (another guy most people liked personally).

Government monopolies? Caring for other humans shouldn't be a business.

Every business provides goods/services and mostly to (or for) humans. What, exactly, should not be government only? ;)

There is a difference between healthcare and providing flat screen televisions.

Here is what other Republicans have done.

So....

DC Exchange (what Cruz would now be doing)

DC exchange (what cruz would now be doing)

Medicare (Cruz isn't elligble)

State or Federal Exchange (not really any different than doing the DC Exchange as it comes to the notion of "enrolling in Obamacare" or not)

State Government Employee Health Care Plan (Cruz isn't eligible as his spouse isn't part of a state government to piggy back off of)

Spouses private insurance (What Ted was on, but his wife no longer can get it)

So thanks for the link that doesn't actually answer my question. So I'll ask again, care to specify an option that meets those criteria I listed?

Much as you'd like to think so, there really isn't. Nor is there any difference between healthcare and food, shelter, clothing, boats, fishing gear, etc.
