Utah to allow firing squads for executions

I always been in favor of the guillotine. Fast, quick, relative painless. Surefire.

Greetings, Pero. :2wave:

The French were refined about killing people. It sure beats the crude amateurish beheadings by the ME terrorists, which are meant to cause pain! Plus, the French were killing criminals, while the terrorists are killing innocent people, and/or anyone who doesn't agree with them. Big difference in level of cruelty by disgusting animals! :2mad:

The death penalty should only be for cases where the offender has shown disregard for the humanity of their victim (multiple muders, torture, multiple rapes), and there is no doubt of guilt. And I should be done in an airtight room slowly filled with CO2. Gas chambers are the best way, as history shows.

I agree. I would like to see the convicted put to death in the same manner they killed innocents. But that would cause way too many people to feel sorry for the murderers and killers. So the Guillotine is the next best solution.

I absolutely agree with your first sentence. I support its use when the offender is particularly heinous and when there is absolutely no doubt of his/her guilt, which is far easier to prove today given DNA, ease of capturing on video, advanced forensics, etc.

I'm not sure about the gas chamber thing. I would prefer the guillotine but that won't happen. Here in NH we have hanging as the "back up" plan to lethal injection. Supposedly hanging is quick, when done right.

Guillotine is unhygienic. I wouldn't want to be the person cleaning up all the blood. And hanging is too complicated. Gas chambers are quick, efficient, and you can kill multiple people at once with no increase in the use of resources.

Wow, most of the responses on this thread have been absolutely disgusting. I guess we just love lowering ourselves to using the same tactics that supposedly make you deserving of the death penalty in the first place.

When it comes down to it, we are truly a bloodthirsty society. It's just easier to rationalize when you call it "justice"

What is this...1970s France?

Yes. I said 1970s.
I am aware of that.
The DP in the US is severly flawed. Aside from vengeance it is barbaric.
Off with their heads: France brings back the guillotine - but just as a museum piece | Daily Mail Online
The last guillotining in France took place as recently as 1977 when Hamida Djandoubi, a convicted murderer who had tortured and raped his victims, was beheaded at Baumettes prison in Marseille.

The method had not changed since the Revolution, when crowds including young children and old hags known as ‘tricoteuses’ because they were always knitting, used to build up in Paris squares to cheer and shout at the spectacle.
