Breaking News Airbus plane crashes in Southern France

No survivors

RIP to all aboard.

Saw that on the news this morning. How awful. They didn't say if there were any survivors but based on what they knew preliminarily, it didn't sound like anyone could possibly survive it.:(

Very very sad.

Very very sad.

Flying into a mountain at a shape dive sounds pretty unsurvivable.

Might have been a bomb on board.

Agents of Islam have promised pay back for killing the Charile Habo killers. They promised something big.

Im planning a trip in a month or two and stuff like this always scares me. :(

All the same you have a higher chance of dying in the car on the way to the Airport....

Doesn't sound like a bomb. The pilot was able to give a distress call minutes before crash so it may be more mechanical cause. Very rare for a crash mid-flight.

This sort of thing always plays on my mind every time I step on a plane but in reality the number of people killed is probably equal to the number of Americans who die everyday in automobile accidents.

Sure, but one must also recognize that there are many more cars on the roads of the world at any given moment than there are planes in the air, and that a single plane holds a far greater capacity than your average car, so the odds after all these calculations must be much closer than one would think.

Problem is, all the so called "experts" are on cable tv news networks endlessly speculating, adding nothing to the conversation, worst is "Scary Mary" Schiavo, the biggest publicity hound for hire out there, she is a twit, and is not respected in the airline community.

Word I am getting is, no bomb, no hijacking, no structural failure. It appears to be a power loss

Hell, I fly all the time, I'm on a business trip now, no worries here, I worked in the industry for a long time.

Flying on a plane does not scare me to the point of knees shaking and hanging on to the barf bag. But when up there I can't help wonder what it would be like for all of sudden the plane went into a sudden dive to the ground.

In a car accident you may have a chance to maneuver out of the way of danger or often it is just a big Bang. But as a passenger in a plane you are strapped in a seat without a clue what is happening or any chance to maneuver the controls. Almost like sitting on a roller coaster.

A " Power Loss " ?

So they ran out of fuel ? Both Engines simultaneously stopped producing thrust ?

No one has any idea what happened yetn

Germanwings flight 4U9525 flying an Airbus 320 from Barcelona to Dusseldorf. 150 aboard (144/6). The plane crashed in the Estrop mountain range in the southern Alps. This locale is inaccessible by land and first responders have arrived via helicopter. The prospect of survivors seems low.

Not fuel, but not an explosion or structural. We will see, this will be an easy one to figure out when they get the data recorder.

An explosion would or could be a bomb then.

These Planes have a multitude of redundant back up systems and rarely fall out of the sky and are most vulnerable to weather anomalies like microburst and they're most vulnerable to pilot error on take off and landings.

Oh dear, some people genuinely believe this happened because of the total solar eclipse.

RIP to all victims.

Check the stats on ladder deaths.

RIP to those involved. shameful to be already speculating on possible external causes.

Why?

Speculation that it might have been a bomb by islamacists is not unfounded given the history of attacks on aircraft by them and promises of more attacks. In addiition, German aircraft tend to be very well maintained and flown by well trained pilots (of course that does nor rule out mechanical failure).

Now, if I speculated that the plane might have been brought down by a totally unfounded group: Green Peace, the Vatican in conjunction with Trilateral Commission, the Democratic Party, etc. you would have a point.

This sounds like a major mystery. The distress call didn't come from the plane - it came from air traffic control after the plane descended to a low altitude but did it in a very controlled manner.

Pictures can be seen of the debris all over the place. It looks like the plane absolutely disintegrated upon impact.

There were 16 German students from a single school on the flight, along with 2 teachers. They were on their way back from a Spanish exchange program. It is just heartbreaking to see the images from their town of the people in mourning.

So very sad.:(

There's a great conclusion to jump to without any evidence whatsoever.

The plane's descent rate was quick, but controlled. It wasn't a bomb.

The descent was 4,000 ft per minute which is controlled as I understand it by the A320 software on the plane. A small bomb couldn't have gone off decompressing the plane and causing the descent? I'm not sure I can completely discount such an occurrence yet.

who said it was a bomb.. but it could still be terrorism
