U.S. companies hoard record amount of cash

Why should it be up to me what a private company does with their money?

(I mean, I get the economics of pools of money sitting in the hands of the few but we really have Congress and the Fed to thank for this economic model we have now.)

Along with 30 years of coddling corporations and the wealthy in the insane hope that the wealth would "trickle down".

Elections have consequences, and so does ObamaCare.

Morons elected a hard left ideologue who threw a huge wet blanket on the American economy and now they're blaming the Corporations.

What a way to describe the fastest growing economy in the free world. You are a piece of work.

It has to those not waiting for a handout. Too many expect it from 30-hour work weeks.

There is so much money out there if you're willing to work for it.

I agree with you.

I think the counter argument is that thing Bush called "compassionate conservatism", or what some call "responsible capitalism".

That is, considering the vast disparity in wealth distribution in this country, would those holding the money be acting in a responsible and humane way if they raised wages a bit? Increased benefits a bit?

Depends on your definition of humane. Is it humane to encourage people to expect more than their labors actually are worth, discouraging them and others from bettering themselves? How "humane" would it be to take those wages and benefits away when economic times get tough?

Sometimes what seems inhumane on a micro-scale is the best and most humane on the macro-scale. On a micro-scale, the individual, it may seem inhumane to let someone suffer the depredations of their own choices. While on the macro-scale, national or human wide, it is very much the best option and most humane for the most people.

Loosers, aka, Leftist, should quit worrying or carrying about what others have and focus on achieving what they want through their own labors.

1) one time bonuses for employees
2) cut prices and see if sales increase and even more profits are made
3) give out raises
4) provide more benefits to employees
5) provide an actual and HONEST cost of living increase to employees

That's very anti conservative.

I agree.

Our government shouldn't be coddling anyone...whether wealthy, poor, corporation or individual. All should to sink or swim based on their own choices.

I'm sure everyone has ideas on what people or companies should do with their money, but does anyone have the right to tell people or businesses what to do with their money? Do you? Does the government?

Well, certainly a portion of it anyway.

You have no idea how business works, do you?

I agree.

Typical conservative mindset that views giving someone a leg up as a negative, and thinks everyone that's sinking has made bad decisions.

My wife and I run our business exactly so, and it has grown on average 30% anually every year of its existence. And our employees love working for us.

Do you think government should pick winners and losers? Do you think government should compensate the losers? Punish the winners?

Do you, with your liberal mindset, think that is a positive action?

Not me, the government. Unless you think that paying your fair share is unfair.

I have no idea what you think "fair share" is, so I don't know if it's fair or not.

Look...you are changing the parameters of this discussion from telling companies what they should do with their money to telling companies to pay taxes.

Get back on track, eh?

I believe we should have a benevolent government who's job is to assist, and promote the welfare of all its citizens. I'm not too interested in your selfish, calloused world.

Uh, no. The ACA is doing what it was designed to do to get people health care, and the economy is doing so well that the DOW is up to 17,000 and the corps have all those record profits to hoard.

Well, are you a supporter of the US military. How about the roads you drive on? Are you being intentionally coy?

Sigh...

Nice words..."benevolent", "assist", "promote".

The problem is, what you do and your claims that your action is benevolent, will assist, promotes. If, by doing something that you claim will do those things, you remove freedoms, prey on those you don't like, punish those who don't do what you think they should, then you are doing more harm than good.

Read the edit I made to my post...

And then get back on topic.

If they buy the Dallas Cowboys 437 times they will be the proud owners of 437 losing teams....

it should come as no surprise that predatory capitalists are hoarding cash.....anymore than the sun rises in the east.....they spend it freely on efforts to obstruct economic, social and political justice which means essentially that they support the Republican party....who are indeed the "Handmaidens of the Boardroom" ... Thus as it's ever been .
