So he says he's disclosing everything that's related to government business, but the truth is that no one else has any way to confirm it:

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, a likely Republican presidential candidate, primarily used a personal email account on his own computer server when he was in office from 1999 to 2007. In December, he posted online hundreds of thousands of emails from both the private and government accounts. Mr. Bush’s spokeswoman said that emails from the private account unrelated to government business weren’t turned over to the state or preserved. […]

But much like with Mrs. Clinton, the decision over which emails should be considered official and which remain private was made by Mr. Bush. It is unclear how many emails Mr. Bush withheld because he deemed them unrelated to state business.

This is why all politicians and diplomats need to be issued a .gov address. And prosecuted for using any other e-mail system for official business.

They can still have a personal email address, IMO, but they need to make it accessible to some kind of outside auditor.

Of course they can have personal e-mail addresses. We don't need them talking about what's for dinner on a .gov. But, all official business must be carried out on the .gov, both for scrutiny and security. This shouldn't even be debatable. Everyone I talk to is quite shocked to learn of this. Most people just assumed that the SOS was conducting business on secure government systems.

Yup, that is a significant issue, and one of many reasons why Jeb is not the best candidate for Republicans this go-round. He's the candidate most likely to turn the Clinton name from a liability into an asset.

I can't read that article because I'm not a subscriber to WSJ. Can you tell me what State laws and regulations Jeb Bush is subject to in regard to this issue?

In any case, it would be very, very smart for any person, whether a public or private employee, to keep their work-related stuff and their personal stuff totally separated. Kind of a no-brainer, if you ask me.

I'm not dismissing the server issue, or the questions around Clinton's actions. Just pointing out that the hypocrisy from the scandal mongers is quite telling.

Looks like this may become another Benghazi.

Even if he did behave within the law (which I'm not knowledgeable enough about Florida state law to say), his handling of emails isn't terribly different from Clinton's.

Well, there is one aspect you didn't take into consideration when comparing the 2. Jeb Bush hasn't been embroiled in a congressional investigation, where his emails represent crutial evidence, where as Hillary's emails are... an investigation that began long before she left office.

We don't need more partisan gotcha games. We need all government employees, including the elected and appointed ones to be conducting all official business on .gov addresses.

Jeb and Hilary out of the 2016 race? Man, that would be so awesome.

This is just another example of the Bush's penchant for secrecy and belief that the law doesn't apply to them. It proves that his talk about transparency is just a lie.

This will obviously torpedo his run for President

/sarcasm

yo, it was obama who promised the most transparent government EVA!!!

how'd that work out for ya?

so if it covers what bush did, he should be held to that standard.

I don't know if they have a law that says you can't use a personal email for official business. The bigger issue, across the board regardless of party, is when government officials use personal email to conduct official business all we have is their word that they are complying with FOIA rules.

There are lots of government policies in place throughout the various agencies that state you shouldn't use your personal email for such things. We need some hard and fast laws that specifically forbid it and that come with appropriate punishments.

Jeb Bush is the only candidate that would cause me to vote for Hillary Clinton.

dude, even when they use government computers the ruling class finds a way to destroy, delay, and avoid giving it up. Its this centuries "shredding party" .
