F.C.C. Sets Net Neutrality Rules

The words mean there is nothing there for now. So, for now CM pancake is correct. And it means those who panicked like Cruz and Paul were wrong. While the words may leave a door open, as this is a changing word, it doesn't mean it will happen.

"for now"...

and you can keep you Dr and see huge savings.. LOL...

when will people learn that liberals are nto for freedom or ANYTHING...

Because DP is a BANDWIDTH INTENSE SITE! right? Please, spare us the cockamamie bull****. The Net Neutrality was a power grab by bureacrats and the fools cheering it on have no clue how bad this move is gonna screw them over. the worst part is, all you sheep will do, five years from now as this stupid mucks up the web? Demand more government.
Who said anything about bandwidth intensity? I'm talking about ISPs charging sites for faster speeds or greater access to their clients just because they can. Like I said, only idiots and jerks don't endorse net neutrality. And, to be frank, I find the distrust of government that your argument is based on to be irrational. I don't trust the government either, but I also don't trust corporations like Comcast and Verizon. There needs to be balance between the two. As far as I'm concerned, net neutrality solidifies that balance and the only thing you can say to challenge that is "wait for it". That's not a compelling argument. Hell, that wasn't even a compelling argument for the research papers I had to write in 1st grade.

what gymnastics? what part dont ya get? its an keeping open ended situation that will be back loaded just like Obamacare..and they can pick and choose winners

Excon is 100% right

Excon was wrong, and so were so many others. Either adapt to reality or adapt to becoming as mocked and ridiculed as a Conspiracy Theorist. Because quite honestly a few members in the anti-Net Neutrality crowd are channeling their inner tin-foil hats with this wild, baseless claims with no evidence to back them up. You were wrong, be a man and admit you were wrong and move on.

Where's my free Internet?

Holy hell, talk about overreacting.

Where's my free Internet?

No one was offering free Internet. The freedom of not arbitrarily being forced to pay more money for the same service you've always had, but not "free Internet."

Excon is NOT wrong.. you are in reality...

This is great news. As far as I can tell, all of the people against net neutrality are either jerks who want to screw up the Internet for profit or idiots who believe that jerks when they cover up their greed with lies about "protecting innovation" and "preventing government overreach". Like I said, this is great news and I'm glad to see that the "right" side won.

the "right " side as lost twice in court so far.... we'll see how they do the 3rd time.

Well I'm against net neutrality then.

this is more Govermentcontrol PIECE BY PIECE... but the libs fall for this canard every time...

they bank on the sheep staying stupid and they never fail...

Well, thank you I am in reality. You and Excon should join me here. We got pancakes and wi-fi and you don't have to worry about Comcast charging you more money to go to a website that they decided they should charge you more for visiting. Thanks Net Neutrality. :peace

Eh that's fine, too bad net neutrality is being protected and it wasn't the power grab so many DP'ers here thumped their chest and assumed it was the case.

We could read further on what the NYT says about it, but I much prefer the original source.

Here are the 400 pages of terrifying government takeover of the internet, wherein now only the government will be allowed to sell internet access and they will assume direct control over all content.

http://transition.fcc.gov/Daily_Releases/Daily_Business/2015/db0312/FCC-15-24A1.pdf

Not that any of that is actually written into these rules, of course.

As I suggested many times in earlier discussions, and was met with vehement disagreement from the right-wingers here, the order does not apply any and all Title II regulations blindly. I was scoffed at when I suggested that the FCC can waive rules in areas they don't make sense to apply. I was right.

So, the scary internet tax is out. Numerous other provisions are exempted as well.

Our Republican friend on the FCC really wanted us to see this scary 400 page document? The bulk of it is just long-winded explanation of what it has chosen to do and why, much of which is actually electing not to apply many of the Title II regulations.

I haven't gotten through all of it yet, but I'm not seeing the end of the world here. Maybe some of the people predicting doomsday can point out specifically where the internet as we know it is going to dramatically change.
Mark Cuban adamantly disagrees with you. And he's hardly a conservative.

You show me how this close ended and they say "there will never be taxes"

This is cute. Travis, fools made the claim that the FCC would come up with taxes in this new set of rules. I want to see where they are.

You mean something thats never happened? Please....
It's never happened because the minute people started making such proposals, other people started to (successfully) campaign for policies solidifying net neutrality. Thank God.

then you should read more closely... you talk in absolutes when its written open ended.,......

now please dont make me have to spell it ..

If you dont believe that they are coming then I have this great bridge to sell you... meet downtown and I can get you a great price.

sadly you are wayyyyyy off here...

:doh
It means that classifying it as a utility opened it up to fees being assessed where none could be before.

I said opened a door, but we have not walked through that door. Nor do we have to.

Nope, I'm discussing the FCC rules explicitly. I want to see where the new taxes are. That's what was claimed was going to happen. Where are they? Let the fools come forward and show us where the taxes are. :)

He knows that, he's just making a stupid comment. Just like Excon and Travis007, they are mad that their predictions about what Cruz said didn't materialize and now they are saying, "Just wait!"
