Obama Says Nuclear Deal Offered to Iran Is ‘Extraordinarily Reasonable’ [W:170]

Re: Obama Says Nuclear Deal Offered to Iran Is ‘Extraordinarily Reasonable’

Greetings, MMC. :2wave:

Great post!

Interesting that a Democrat from California, of all places, would blast Obama on these negotiations, calling it a "preposterous argument" that a diplomatic pact, on paper, will stop Iran from doing anything it pleases. Gotta agree with that guy!

Yeah Lady P......Demos, Repubs, Israel, Egypt, the Saud, Jordan, and now we know how the French feel. Note the majority of that region tends to stand out let alone others.

Which the rest of the planet barely even knows whats going on. So they really don't have much to say.

Re: Obama Says Nuclear Deal Offered to Iran Is ‘Extraordinarily Reasonable’

From your quote of the article:

“If we have unprecedented transparency in that system, if we are able to verify that in fact they are not developing weapons systems, then there’s a deal to be had,” Mr. Obama said. “But that’s going to require them to accept the kind of verification and constraints on their program that so far, at least, they have not been willing to say yes to.”

If Iran's notion of "transparency" is anything like Obama's then its a crap deal. And considering Iran's extreme reluctance in the past for transparency over their nuclear program I see no reason to doubt that it is exactly like Obama's notion of transparency.

Heya KS. :2wave: I would have told BO peep.....oh yeah, and IF a frog had wings it wouldn't hit its ass every time it hops. Now focus.

Re: Obama Says Nuclear Deal Offered to Iran Is ‘Extraordinarily Reasonable’

They stopped quite some time ago.
Are you for war or sanctions if the deal falls thru?
I'm for even tighter sanctions. Oil prices have plummeted. Iran is losing a lot of money. Tighter sanctions along with the low prices on oil would bring them to their knees. It would cause the people of Iran to rise up against the regime that governs them. Why in the Hell this administration would even consider lifting sanctions at this time is ludicrous. Too many in the military see Iran a greater threat than ISIS. But BO or Kerry aren't known to listen to advise from the military.

From what I know, news reports, the sanctions are to be lifted over time.

Heya JF. :2wave: Looks like the Iranians say that is a deal breaker. Of course their apologists here. Didn't have any excuses they could help Iran cover with. I did like the California Democrat who came out and called BO peeps deal preposterous. Just another Democrat that woke up.

Surprise: Iranians Add New Demand In Nuke Talks......

Tehran’s negotiators in Switzerland, according to these diplomats, have hardened their position that United Nations sanctions on their country be repealed at the front end of any deal reached this month with the U.S. and other global powers. The U.S. and its European allies are demanding the U.N.’s sanctions be suspended or terminated in a phased time-frame over years. They believe sanctions relief should only come after Iran addresses concerns about its past nuclear work and is given a clean bill of health by the U.N.’s nuclear watchdog, the International Atomic Energy Agency. The Iranians “say it’s a deal breaker. They don’t want it at all,” said a senior European diplomat involved in the Lausanne talks, referring to Iran’s position on the U.N. sanctions. “There’s no way that we would give up on that…. No way.”

Congressional leaders have begun pressuring their colleagues to cut off all U.S. funding for the ongoing talks with Iran over its contested nuclear program as the Obama administration rushes to hash out the details of a deal in the coming months, according to multiple sources and a letter that will be sent next week to appropriators in the House of Representatives. With the deadline approaching, congressional Republicans have been exasperated by the Obama administration’s efforts to prevent them from having any oversight over the deal. Reps. Peter Roskam (R., Ill.) and Lee Zeldin (R., N.Y.) are now petitioning their colleagues on the House Appropriations Committee to prohibit all taxpayer funding for the talks, the Washington Free Beacon has learned. This would purge all U.S. funds available to Obama administration officials for travel abroad, hotel stays, and any other activities related to the P5+1 talks with Iran.

Rep. Brad Sherman (D-Calif.) on Thursday slammed the Obama administration for arguing that a diplomatic pact will prevent Iran from building nuclear weapons, calling it a “preposterous argument.” Sherman’s remarks came during an exchange in Congress with Deputy Secretary of State Tony Blinken. The lawmaker said Iran had proven itself untrustworthy during previous nuclear negotiations. “Obviously, they’re willing to break the law,” Sherman said, noting Tehran’s repeated violations of past U.N. mandates and diplomatic treaties.....snip~

The Israelis have been talking with the French as of late Friday and Saturday. As the French came out and revealed they aren't to happy with BO's deal. Also called BO an Amateur. Pretty much calling it the Amateur Hour.

I wonder how Obama is feeling with being marginalized?

I suppose he'll start bad-mouthing the French, now.

I don't think I ever heard Bush bad-mouthing the French.

Well, I didn't specifically say he did. I just recall much French bad mouthing because the French dared to point out that Colin Powell's UN presentation was unconvincing, and that if the US attacked Iran without a consensus it would be a victory for might makes right.

Just another irrelevant comment from you.

Sanctions are and should be suspended over time. Any impediment by Iran of inspections by the IAEA would also be a deal breaker. Inspections should be intrusive. Withholding information or denying access sanctions back in place.
They have been stating for some time that they want all sanctions lifted with a signed deal.
Suspension of sanctions would enable their implementation quickly in the event Iran does not adhere to a deal.

Mornin JF. :2wave: Yeah with regards to the sanctions and their Ballistics needs to be on the table. Also to include inspections and access to any new reactors bought from Russia.

My opinion has been long term, longer than 10 years and intrusive inspections
Some may want war. And it is normally US assets that are used. Appears if that happens, the Saudi's, Jordan, Egypt and others get the "was not us card".

Re: Obama Says Nuclear Deal Offered to Iran Is ‘Extraordinarily Reasonable’

It is none of America's business if Iran wants to build nuclear weapons.

Just like the reverse is true.

And, I have said it umpteen times. Even if Iran had nukes, they would NEVER use them first against America or Israel as it would mean their immediate destruction.

This whole 'stop Iran from getting nukes' nonsense is just the American ignorant masses being paranoid because the media/politicians they watch tells them to be.
