North Korea is praising the attack on our Ambassador.....where was his security, he was giving a speech.

The U.S. ambassador to South Korea was attacked by a man with a razor while delivering an address in Seoul, U.S. and Korean officials said.

Ambassador Mark Lippert was cut with a razor to his right cheek, State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf said. The injury was not believed to be life threatening, she said on CNN, and he was taken to a hospital for treatment......snip~

SEOUL, South Korea — The United States ambassador to South Korea, Mark W. Lippert, was attacked Thursday morning by a knife-wielding man who said he opposed joint American-South Korean military exercises, according to the South Korean police and journalists who were at the scene.

Mr. Lippert was in stable condition after undergoing surgery for knife wounds on his face and left arm, said Robert W. Ogburn, minister-counselor for public affairs at the American Embassy. The ambassador suffered a four-inch cut on the right side of his face, which required 80 stitches, as well as stab wounds to his left arm and hand, which he appeared to have received while resisting the attack, said doctors at Yonsei University’s Severance Hospital in Seoul. The injuries were not life-threatening, but it will take several months for Mr. Lippert to recover full use of his injured fingers, the doctors said during a news conference......snip~

WTH is going on with the State Dept? They didn't request any bodyguard service. Are they trying to cut corners again?

After an urgent meeting of vice ministers, the South Korean government on Thursday vowed a “stern punishment” for officials who failed to protect Mr. Lippert. But Mr. Yoon said the police did not check the people entering the breakfast meeting because the embassy did not request it. “We had received no request from the embassy for bodyguard service,” he told reporters.

He added that the police had taken their own security measure in deploying 28 officers around the restaurant. Some of those officers joined participants of the breakfast meeting in subduing the attacker, Mr. Yoon said.....snip~

Good morning MMC

I wish the ambassador well and a quick, complete recovery.

I'd say, even in Canada, the American Ambassador would not enter a facility or room that had not been fully checked and the attendees fully vetted before he/her doing so. It's foolish bravado if the Ambassador rejected such security measures, particularly after Benghazi. Even if he did reject them, State Department and/or South Korean security should overrule that rejection.

I'd add, in closing, that it's comforting to see that, under Obama, America has regained that respect and love that so many claimed was lost under GWB. Seems to me, there's a lot of truth these days in the old saying "better to be feared than loved" in foreign relations.

It says the nationalists want to unify Korea, and they should. Get rid of Little Kim and his Orwellian dystopia, and unite the country under the South Korean government.

Security missing? Again? A State Department function? Well, at least it's not a Benghazi.

What's with Democrats and their inherent lack of care for their own people's security?

Mornin CJ. :2wave: He is okay and has sent out a Tweet. 80 stitches to his face tho. Doesn't say much For BO peep and those Democrats for staying on top of things.....does it?

Here is the piece on the N Koreans.

The U.S. ambassador to South Korea was slashed by a man screaming demands for Korean unification Thursday morning in Seoul, and was hospitalized with wounds to his face and wrist in an attack that North Korea called "a deserved punishment on war maniac U.S." North Korea's state-controlled media later crowed that "knife slashes of justice" were "a deserved punishment on war maniac U.S." and reflected the South Korean people's protests against the U.S. for driving the Korean Peninsula to the brink of war because of the joint military drills.

Chung said the knife also penetrated through Lippert's left arm and damaged the nerves connected to his pinkie and tendons connected to his thumb. Lippert will need to be treated at the hospital for the next three or four days and may experience sensory problems in his left hand for several months, Chung said.....snip~

Yeah, but that's not the way that North Korea sees it. They see it as the reverse, I'm thinking.
It's really amazing what can be accomplished with meager and not nutritious enough rations, and brainwashing for years on end.

I am not sure that it is possible to prevent a nut from attacking anyone - remember John Hinckley, Jr.? It is nearly impossible to keep public figures in totally secure environments. especially in foreign nations, and give the apppearnce of them being in touch with the follks.

Yeah EB. :2wave: Something BO peep didn't even want to see jump up into the spotlight, huh?

The question is.....why are we even listening to the likes of Chreyl Mills, Gloria Nuland, Samantha Powers, Marie Harf, Jen Psaki and Susan Rice?

We should be chasing these Bimbo's out of Government.....B.I.M.B.O. and Bingo was their name-o!

The attacker was a left-leaning activist who claimed he attacked the ambassador because he was offended by the "annual joint military exercises that the United States started this week with South Korea". The Communist despot in North Korea, Kim Jong Un was also critical of the exercises. There really needs to be more protection for our Ambassadors everywhere because the nuts are everywhere.

Mornin DH. :2wave: Nothing like some Hope and Change there, huh? Don't forget to tell them when its all done. They will only have some change in their pockets :2razz:

Yeah, it'd be one thing if they were hanging out there for Bill's pleasure, but these bimbo's are just administration mouthpieces, unthinking and disbelieved parrots repeating the tales of Obama's and this administration unicorns. Come to think of it, Josh Earnest is pretty much the same thing in male form.

If they did manage to unite Korea under Kim Jung Un, they'd be lucky if they even had any change in their pockets. How could anyone live in a relatively free and prosperous place like South Korea, and think they would rather be in Big Brother land? It must be the same sort of mentality that leads people in America and Western Europe to go off and join ISIS. I can't say I understand it, though, can you?

No he wasn't. He's a man who has mental illness.

Link- [KPKF] Attacker of US ambassador found to also have caused a disturbance during EXO's stage - Netizen Nation - OneHallyu

He's done a similar type of attack at an appearance of a popular idol group in Korea called EXO. He was doing the same type of disturbance there.

He was investigated before. But in South Korea therapy and mental help is very very taboo. People are against it and there's no privacy with it like here in the US. He should get help but instead all he'll get is punishment and made an example out of and the North will exploit him too as they've been doing. :doh

I don't see it happening anytime soon.

But now this security issue with our Ambassadors.....don't you think this will need to be addressed. Also doesn't this reflect on BO?

I dunno, does it?
Did the attack on Reagan when James Brady was shot that someone mentioned above reflect on Reagan?

Did Reagan have an issue with Security problems with his State Dept? Who has the problem now over Security issues?

I suppose under the "buck stops here" doctrine, everything that happens is a reflection on the president. A nutter attacks our ambassador, that's a reflection on the president.

The thing is, does he, did his predecessors, really have control over such incidents?

Yeah but after Benghazi.....wherein several committees found lacking security and the failure to note clear warning signs.

The issue was suppose to be taken care of.....wasn't it? Meaning there was suppose to be focus on all levels of security, Right?

Good point.

Benghazi was a total cluster(bleep!) on the part of the state department, IMO of course. Did they at least lock the barn door to keep the rest of the horses from getting out? Perhaps not.

One would think State would have had all Ambassadors on heightened alert since then and with whats taken place in The ME and Africa. Especially going out in the public and speaking. We have watched attacks committed in other countries that are our allies.

But to not even put out requests. This guy was able to attack near a dinner table too.

Maybe State should note that there are quite a few Veterans that are looking for a job. I think this is something they can do and do very well. What do you think?
