Live Long and Prosper - Leonard Nimoy Dead at 83

Sorry to hear that.

The guy created one of the most enduring characters ever without ever being a "spotlight" personality on screen or off.

Oh man, what a drag. One of my favorites of my lifetime. :(

Rest in Peace my Vulcan friend.

Same way I got to 51 so darn fast. Time flies.

Indeed. I was thinking how I remembered Star Trek when it first came out on TV. It was a big deal. Then I realized that was almost 50 years ago...............

Scotty, Bones and now Spock. They don't have a "Live long and Prosper" smilie so this will have to do

:peace

Bummer. That's a little too young for death as far as I'm concerned.

83 sounds like a good age.

I'd be damned if I lived until 100 or something but my quality of life was ****ing ****ty for the last decade or two.

You're a teenager, you can't even fathom 30 let alone 80.

I like the sound of 90. A nice round number.

I've seen family live that long. Do not tell me what I can and cannot fathom, such a thing is imbecilic in nature. I can fathom such things. To be correct, you should say I have yet to experience such things.

They're stuck in a room the entire day. Their muscles have grown so weak that they cannot even walk. They cannot live alone or even with their spouse in their own house as they need a stranger to come in everyday and take care of everything. They lose their independence, their life is that of being at the mercy of those around them.

Their fragile bodies move at a tortoise's pace and pain is experienced commonly.

No thanks. I plan to never use drugs and stuff to keep me artificially alive, when I'm gone I'm gone. You can call me naive or whatever but I won't listen to anyone telling me otherwise.

Sheldon Cooper is gonna freak.

As for Nimoy...I would say he did indeed 'live long and prosper'.

When I was in the first grade(this would have been 1971), I would get home from school just in time to sit with my mom and watch Star Trek with her each day on one of the local channels. Spock was my hands down favorite character. I am surprised kinda at just how saddened I am at this news. He was a big part of my youth, and a big part of my lifelong interest in science fiction.

Oh no, so sad. Truly marking the end of an era.

That's what I said in the other thread.

I wonder if they will incorporate into the show because Nimoy has been a part of the show up until now.

My great-grandmother lived to 105 and she was very active until the end. She enjoyed her life, every day of it.

Those who refuse to listen to others when they are young will learn little.

There was a time in my life I would have disagreed. That was 50 years ago. I'm thinking a little differently now. ;)

I agree. 83 is not as old as it used to be!

I also have met a lot of people in the last few years who are in their late 70s, 80s, even early 90s who can kick my butt energy-wise...

I wish we could have had Nimoy for a few more years, but at least we had him for 83.
