The
White House is now using the term “Americans-in-waiting” to describe the thousands of illegal immigrants waiting for green cards “as a result of our broken immigration system.”The White House used the new phrase Tuesday in an update on President Obama’s executive amnesty actions, titled “Taking Action to Unlock the Economic Contributions of Americans-in-Waiting,” Weasel Zippers first reported.
The update announces a “final rule” that will allow the spouses of certain high-skilled workers to “contribute to the economy while they wait to obtain lawful permanent residence status.”

Is there any doubt left that this is an AMNESTY bill, not just immigration reform?

And is there any doubt that the intent is to get these people into voting booths as quickly as possible?

And your reference is a complete and utter LIE.

Why? If one would READ the White House press release that describes the Americans-in-waiting, it in NO way refers to illegal immigrants. Instead, it's referring to the spouses of LEGAL immigrants - holders of H-1B visas - who ARE allowed to travel here with their spouses when they are hired to work here in America. They are ALL legally here, and what the White House is doing is enabling the highly-skilled immigrants (which is what H-1B visas are for) to be better able to remain here and earn their citizenship.

So...do you believe we should encourage LEGAL immigration by those who are highly-educated and highly-skilled? Or do you want to exclude them, too? There's others who have come to America who have earned their citizenship in the exact same way. One was a guy named Einstein - you may have heard of him.

yes thats correct, if a bill is NOT to contain an elemet which does require illegal aliens to leave the nation and return through legal channels, and all they have to do is stay here and ONE day they will be a citizen, then its an amnesty.

He is certainly a determined person, that man that can.

H1B visa holders are NOT immigrants. They are highly skilled GUEST workers. There is no path to citizenship for them. They still have to apply for citizenship (if they wish it) like every other potential immigrant. The ONLY reason that visa exists is that we supposedly can't fill the job slots with our own highly skilled workers. In fact, the hiring company must attest they cannot find native labor and they need the foreign labor before any visa is issued.

How do you encourage legal immigration of "bright collar" workers when 500,000 unskilled workers flood the US every year?

If you are claiming "immigration reform" that gaping hole in the border must be addressed before anyone is going to take Obama seriously...which is fair as he's had seven years to do this, two of them with a full majority and he is only now, while losing seven wars, making all this a priority.

And are they illegal? ARE THEY ILLEGAL? No, they are not...unlike what was claimed in the OP.

And besides, would you rather have highly-skilled H-1B workers stay here and become American taxpayers, or would you rather have them make their money and then take their money (and their skills) back to where they came from? Really, guy, which is better for America?

...not to mention that 'gaping hole in the border' wasn't addressed by Bush 43 in the previous EIGHT years, by Clinton in the EIGHT years before that, by Bush 41 in the four years before that, and by Reagan in the EIGHT years before that.

Okay? There's plenty of blame to go around.

That, and as Jeb Bush pointed out, the NET illegal immigration to America is ZERO. Read that again: ZERO. And Politifact rated his claim as TRUE.

Okay? Your flood ain't a flood. It ain't even a trickle. Yes, there are a LOT of illegal immigrants in America...but that WILL happen when any rich nations shares a border with a poor nation. If you want the illegals to go home, then make their home better - do that which improves Mexico's economy, and that which stabilizes their nation and makes it a better, safer place to live...and you'll see a lot of the illegals here go home.

In other words, "Fixing the border" is at best nothing more than an extremely expensive band-aid. The only - repeat, ONLY - way to fix our illegal immigration problem is to fix Mexico's economy.

It's Bush's fault. It's Bush's fault.

First line.

I read no further as I'm not interested in progressive history, but what Obama is doing as he as wee speak, has the purse strings and the reins, it is he now making changes and he who must answer the question if they are the right ones.

The fact the American people have allowed this to go on for 70 years and not demanded accountability is not at issue....Mr. Gruber has already identified that problem and I have stated clearly this is all about cheap labor, by both parties, Obama and his Hollywood buddies are just more hypocritical

Not securing the border is anything but humane. What you have is an enticing lure which brings thousands to their death every year in lost souls trying to make the journey across the border. Not only that but you fuel human trafficking, drug smuggling....not to mention the rapes and murders...all sorts of criminal activity.

Not securing the border makes the US complicit in all of these crimes.

1. Obama doesn't "have the purse strings". That's the House, FYI. The president recommends funding, but it's the House that has the most influence on what is or is not spent. Why do you think everyone's looking to Boehner concerning whether to shut down DHS? It's because the House that 'holds the purse strings'.

2. What part of NET ZERO IMMIGRATION do you not understand?

What part of my post did you not understand.

Having a conversation with a progressive is merely asking for an exchange of insults...

No, they are here TEMPORARILY and legally as visa holders. And I'd rather they end up going home and a citizen be hired in their place. You so obviously don't know what H1B visas are for. The hiring company must recertify every year that they still need the foreign worker and that no American worker is available for the job. Companies lie through their teeth and ICE doesn't even give it a passing glance. Intel and the other tech companies are notorious for this.

what part confuses you that youre response it that?... these are real subjects.

This is simply Obama breaking the laws to create and pay Democrats in waiting

Look, this isn't about the visa holders themselves. This is about the spouses they bring with them being able to work legally. Btw, no other country I'm aware of allows this. If you're brought in on a high skill visa, generally spouses who tag along are not allowed to work.

And in no way are H1B visa holders "Americans in waiting". Their visas are supposed to expire the moment an American can be hired with the skills to do the job.

I'm not confused, I was rolling my eyes. Because this is an unserious thread that does not deserve to be taken seriously.

Whether they're legal, illegal, or whatever, why is this a good thing anyway?

And wut in the name of doG is "Weasel Zippers"?

None, whatsoever! And why is it necessary to fund actions Obama himself said he doesn't have the authority to do?

Exactly what are they doing that is so high-skilled that there is not an American worker to do the job? :bs:
