I once read an article compiled by Massad Ayoob that police officers will use all available ammo issued to them in the event of a gun battle- its the exception if they dont. Thats why I advocate cops be issued only with revolvers as sidearms- that will force them to aim and lessen chances of collateral damage.

No? Didn't think so. Stop watching tv. Watch the real dashcam footage on the web of police shootings. It's not some slow, commercial break paused affair it's "BAM BAM BAM" **** goes down.

Let's break this down, you're upset that the police shot dead a threat.

Why aren't you mad the young man was so damned stupid? "Hmm, here are police, they have guns, I have a knife. What are the options?"

A: Drop the weapon, hands over my head and assume a kneeling or face down position.

B: Hands up, drop the knife and turn my back so they are not threatened.

C: Ignore the police, and bring a knife to a gun fight?


It seems our intrepid young man chose C. He paid the price of being stupid. Sure, maybe they could have "tasered" him, or risked injury or death trying to melee the weapon away... The first failure, the biggest failure, was ignoring the police.

Be mad at him for creating the situation, don't get pissy because the police responded as trained.

The OP story is not that amazing. Here, we had an innocent guy, in bed, shot 16 times by the cops...and they didnt even manage to kill him! They did pretty much destroy all his chances for a normal life tho, and the courts have awarded him about $5 million. Approx 3 last yr and 2 mil last week.

Cops went looking for a suspect, found this guy in bed in the basement (not the suspect), he was unarmed, "they fired in a darkened bedroom," and they shot him 16 times. Didnt identify their target, he was unarmed, and they then didnt even manage to kill him with 16 shots? The shootings were found to be justified and the cops are still on the job.

How in the world are those cops not in prison? The public lets this slide but ****s their pants when a normal parent wants to carry a concealed small-caliber handgun when they attend their child's school function? Seriously WTF is wrong with this country?

He was being a thug, and when confronted slashed the cops tires, was tasered, and then closed on the cops with a knife.

Lets be honest-maybe it was for the best-this guy is a Darwin candidate.

My son? I dont have a child but if/when I do he wont be slashing cops tires and then charging them after being tased. :2wave:

Ive just studied medicine, and been to the immediate aftermath . I also reviewed the autopsy report of this particular incident.

In this case, there was no collateral damage mentioned whatsoever. Try and focus.
