CNN/ORC poll: Majority of Americans oppose Netanyahu invite [W:218, 239]

Re: CNN/ORC poll: Majority of Americans oppose Netanyahu invite [W:218]

let me just ask the cons here one simple question: If Obama did this same thing back during the last election with a parliament or congress of another country would you be cool with it?

Re: CNN/ORC poll: Majority of Americans oppose Netanyahu invite [W:218]

Why anyone listens to Netanyahu on Iran is a mystery. He has been saying that Iran has been 0-to-3 years away from a nuclear weapon for 20 years.

The fact that netanyahu kept warning us about Iran getting nukes with the sanctions that were already in place, and that it hasn't happened.

Time for O to go to Israel and address the Knesset about how Ben is gonna f--- them over.

No, it's 20 years.

Benjamin Netanyahu Has Been Lying to Americans For 20 Years | Alternet

Netanyahu's Tall Tales On Iran And Iraq

In 1992, Benjamin Netanyahu wasn't yet Prime Minister; he was a Likud member of the Knesset, Israel's parliament. He told his fellow lawmakers that Iran was 3 to 5 years away from a nuclear bomb, and that the only way to stop them was for them to be “uprooted by an international front headed by the U.S.”

By 1996, Netanyahu rode a right-wing wave in Israel and was elected Prime Minister; in July he was given his first opportunity to address the U.S. Congress. In his speech, he said Iran was the “most dangerous” of Middle East regimes and warned about the consequences of it acquiring nuclear weapons, saying that it would create “catastrophic consequences...for all of mankind.” He drew on many of the same themes he first introduced in his book Fighting Terrorism: How Democracies Can Defeat Domestic and International Terrorists. In that book he warned that “hundreds of thousands, and possibly millions” would perish if Iran were to possess nuclear weapons.

In both his speech to Congress and his book published a year earlier, he dedicated a significant amount of words to the supposed Iraq WMD threat as well. In 2002, he appeared before Congress as a private citizen to join a Congressional panel looking into the alleged threat from Iraq.

Yes, Netanyahu was one of the major political actors calling for strikes on Iraq because they supposedly had WMDs.

Stop listening to warmongering buffoons. The rest of us have to live on this planet.

the US isn't the problem, Obama is....

The bigger problem is the right wingers who still aren't taking responsibility for dumbya's disaster in the ME.

Re: CNN/ORC poll: Majority of Americans oppose Netanyahu invite [W:218]

suffice to say you dont live in the USA and are a liberal..

No, I am a social democrat but on a lot of non-economical decisions I am fairly liberal.

did you get attacked on 9/11...

why did Clinton bomb Iraq? why didnt Clinton prosecute as a war after the first WTC attack...

I dont care..

Then why comment on it? I am not that liberal, I am reasonably liberal.

I am a social democrat but I am a social democrat who wants to let businesses be as free as is legally possible. There are rules and taxes but for the rest companies should do what companies do best, make money and grow.

I am a social democrat that supports a safety net for the weakest in society, but not a handout kind of safety net. A safety net with the first and primary rule that it is a safety net working towards employment and not one for people to sit down and do nothing. The only people who are free of this demand is people who are unable to work due to serious illness and handicapped in such a manner that they cannot work again.

I am not a low punishment kind of guy, maybe not as extreme as in the US but still I want to be tough on crime, but especially the crimes that hurt people.

Being liberal does not mean agreeing with Obama, he is not that great a president by any standard, but he is also not the president that some people say that he is.

Oh, and Netanyahu is supposed to show some kind of loyalty to Obama because why? Obama been such a great friend and admirer to Israel? He is working a deal that puts Israel in mortal danger for goodness sake.

It seems that many really don't appreciate the importance of what's going on here and how the Obama Administration appears to be deliberately sabotaging Israel. While the left is infamous for their Antisemitism this is going a step too far. Report: Obama Cut Intel Cooperation with Israel - News from America - News - Arutz Sheva

Re: CNN/ORC poll: Majority of Americans oppose Netanyahu invite [W:218]

the US isn't the problem, Obama is....And I am not so sure that Obama is conducting foreign policy on behalf of the US either.
Agreed, but the damage he can do between now and the time his replacement moves in can be hugely dangerous.

There is understandably a growing concern, even among his own supporters, about whose side he is on.

Obama and his left are the scum of the earth..every day they show their vileness..

Re: CNN/ORC poll: Majority of Americans oppose Netanyahu invite [W:218]

I don't know if he should have come without our president's "permission" or not. I do know Obama(when compared to every other president in the last 50 years) has been the least supportive of Israel. no question about that. I don't think liberals want Netanyahu to come here to make that point even more glaring.

It is beyond question that Israel has showed incredible restraint in dealing with it's enemies up to this point. Imagine if the United States had Syria....SYRIA!!!.....as a neighbor. The place would be a smoking hole in the earth by now. So I always give Israel the benefit of the doubt when it comes to how they handle threats.

Re: CNN/ORC poll: Majority of Americans oppose Netanyahu invite [W:218]

Yeah, well, I know you don't like it but Obama is the POTUS, and it's Obama and his delegates who ARE conducting foreign policy on our behalf, whether you agree with it or not.
Is there anyone who has argued otherwise? What is being questioned, and should be, are his long range strategies. It's clear he doesn't have any or, more likely perhaps, he won't reveal them.

By allowing ISIS and Al Qaeda to grow, and allowing Iran to acquire nukes while dropping all sanctions, we can see that he has taken a side. His attack on Libya for eight month (while refusing to even call it "hostilities") his ouster of Mubarak, his claim that the Muslim Brotherhood, his appointment of a Muslim as CIA Chief and his recent invitation to the White House of members of the Muslims Brotherhood should raise serious doubts about this guy.

This is serious stuff, and of course there is much more, but instead of raising any questions the incurious leftists respond with bromides like the one you just submitted.

For the record, I was responding to a question along the lines of 'why should Bibi care what democrats/obama think.' That reason is obviously POTUS conducts FP, and if Bibi goes over the head of POTUS, he'll need democratic support to do so.

The 6 year record of Obama's FP in the ME and the mostly secret Iranian negotiations are simply an entirely different topic.

It is not just that Obama has been treating Israel shabbily, it's his support or acceptance of Islamic groups who want to see the removal of Jews from the Middle East.

Surely his release of terrorists, his removal of troops from Iraq and his closeness with members of the Muslim Brotherhood should raise some red flags among the American people but, apart from a few who are paying serious attention and willing to look at the facts, its just business as usual. No, it's really all the same topic because everyone in the region is effected by Barrack Obama's policies toward Israel and the muslims who want to destroy it.

What do you mean by "if Bibi goes over the head of POTUS"? Why, at this point, should anyone be concerned with Barrack Obama? The issues are just too great to be left in the hands of a Community Organizer.

Until January 2017, he's POTUS and Commander in Chief and the Executive branch has been tasked to conduct foreign policy on behalf of the U.S.A.
