Three missing London schoolgirls 'travelling to Syria to join Isil' - Telegraph

olice fear the girls, all pupils at the Bethnal Green Academy, in east London, might be heading to join terror group Isil - Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, also known as Islamic State.

They travelled from their homes on Tuesday, February 17 and boarded a Turkish Airlines flight to Istanbul.

What do we have to ask ourselves here.

1. What is it we are not seeing that entices people like these GIRLS to join ISIS?

2. If Isis is not representative of Islam, then why are people from seemingly civil islamic backgrounds joining ISIS?

3. What is the draw, what is the attraction?

4. are they being lied to, or is something else going on.

They appear to be of Muslim/Middle Eastern decent.

2. If Isis is not representative of Islam, then why are people from seemingly civil islamic backgrounds joining ISIS?

Kind of like equating the Klan as representative of Christianity.

3. What is the draw, what is the attraction?

Don't know. Perhaps the appeal of the Caliphate.

Oh I am sure it is something else going on.

They appear to be of Muslim/Middle Eastern decent.

That's all it takes to entice them?

I know of no instance of people leaving thier country to join a war for racist christians that are about 200000 strong.

christian equivalency arguments especially when tied to a racist group really don't fit.

Don't know. Perhaps the appeal of the Caliphate.

Then isn't that an extremist view?

like?

You would have to ask them.

Americans used to go fight with foreign armies in foreign wars more frequently than they do now.

Nothing would fit with your stereotype of Muslims as all militant extremists. Go ask the Muslim down at the convenience store or wherever you find one in your town what they think of ISIL.

Then isn't that an extremist view?

No. The Caliphate means different things to different Muslims.

Teenage rebellion; one person intending to become a martyr finding some vulnerable girls to go with; a desire to perform humanitarian relief. Who knows. These things are seldom cut and dry, especially not with teenagers.

There are the answers that fit, then there are the answers people wish to hear. You can condemn ISIS all you want, just don't get into the root cause, because that might "offend" people.

ISIS is the truest, most honest expression of Islam-as-founded in the modern world today. Many Muslims realize this, and this is why so many flock to ISIS' banners.

I'll admit, though, why young women in a Western country would want to join an org that sees them as disposable property is rather baffling... I imagine some degree of deception or romanticism is going on here.

I've never considered all muslims extremists, I really wish people would try to remain honest in these discussions.

What's the "root cause".... ?

There's gotta be something we aren't seeing with leaving ones comfort to fight for ISIS, it's baffling.

reveals more about your bias than you will acknowledge.

The article didn't say the girls were definitely traveling to Syria to join ISIS. It said the authorities feared this may be their reason.

It could be that they decided to go simply for humanitarian reasons. Not enough information is available to determine motive.

I would speculate that the personal reasons/justifications for doing this are varied and probably a bit different for each individual.

Please, and white christian enclave of suburbia are your silly accusations being made from today?

I am not a Christian and that does not change that you were trying to hide a declarative statement as a hypothetical question. You verb tenses revealed that.

Don't have to be, you were infering I was a bigot, or a racist, I was simply pointing out that you make your judgment from the self segregated society you choose to live in based on a simple question.

If my question wasn't PC enough, pound some sand, I don't care. The point of the question has to do with the story, that seemingly there are some well off Muslims in western countries that are drawn to this ISIS fight. It's a question, I am truly trying to understand as it makes no sense.

And it continues - this time, before the girls could go - theirs, family members and adults connected to the girls have all had their passports taken.

In a sane world these Muslim fascist pigs would be tried for their treason and hung from the neck until dead.
