Obama refuses to acknowledge ‘Muslim terrorists’ at summit

What exactly is the benefit of conflating the terrorists with Islam? Do you believe that they would suddenly give up? "The President of the United States has just called ISIS Islamic Terrorists; ISIS surrenders at the efficacy of the verbal barrage"

ISIS is trying to ignite a religious war. They WANT us to call them Islamists. Calling them Islamists gives them propaganda; they can say that we're in a war against Islam. That's the point of their barbarity. Terrorism isn't about traditional military goals. It's not about holding territory, it's about hearts and minds. Why would you want us to give them what they want?

How about the fact that we all know the problem here is Islamic terrorism? They wont be appeased, this just emboldens them. And last week the Sec of State actually said we can't win this war by killing them.

How do you think people that literally live and die by the sword take that?

No, I wouldn't say that, he's not just a comedian. But yes, like Obama and Bush, he's going to have his bias, and his omissions, and his lies.

The difference is Stewart is a major source of "news" to the left. I used to think it was just the young, but the average age of Daily Show listeners is in their 40's. :doh

Maybe the left should start using SNL for their news now that Stewart is going to retire and spend more time with his family. SNL could use the ratings.

That's what I said dude, he's not just a comedian. And with his lies, omissions and bias, Hannity is a source of news to another group of Americans. Can you see the danger here. Or do partisan glasses discriminate?

Hannity is a political commentator, he's not Jon Stewart. He can have opinions, as long as they aren't presented as unbiased and objective "news".

And so can Stewart. And yes Hannity can have his bias, his omissions and his lies too!

It emboldens them? How exactly does it do that? Do you imagine a bunch of terrorists holed up in some cave joyfully cheering because the President calls them terrorists instead of Islamic terrorists?

Making this about their religion gives them legitimacy to claim that the conflict is about religion. This isn't taking place in America. It's occurring in a place with massive support for Sharia Law. These are areas where the populations are full Islamic fundamentalists. Why would we want to lump the entire population into a homogeneous group of baddies? Why should we insinuate that we want to fight them all? It doesn't help us; it's ammunition that they can use to recruit more Islamic fundamentalist to fight against us. It helps the terrorists. Think about that, conflating them with Islam aids and abets the terrorists.

But they aren't equivalent, Stewart is a SATIRIST, Hannity is NOT.

You've already acknowledged that they both provide people with news. As such, neither of them should ad their spin. Or, both of them can add their spin.

Not so much more often a reflection of society and how they react o hot button issues.
With Bill O'Reilly stating he is NOT a journalist, but a host...................What is the big deal.

O'Reilly is a commentator-thats what he does. However he does not get to make up the news-only his opinion.
Stewart doesn't even do that.

What exactly is the problem you want him to utter?

That we and the west (and much of the rest of the world) are at war right now against radical islam-specifically islamic terrorists.

Everyone knows it- but he wont say it.

Satire seems to fall short on the right. They tried. It was a miserable failure.

It's soooo bad. Pushed out by Fox news to try for parity. There just is none.

Oh, I don't know....That was pretty funny....

Bill makes his own spin. I agree with Stewart on his Israel video- it is a reflection of how many react if you dare to criticize Israel.
At least i can see his point, and well Bill does go off the deep end at times.

The right simply has a higher standard for satire, whereas to the left, everything is satire.

Go with whatever excuse you want to make. For satire to work, it takes some truth or it falls flat. Simply throwing stones doesn't work.

No he's not, until he's called out about his bias, omissions, and lies-and then he's somehow just a comedian.

Man o'mighty looky at all the butthurt. Feel free champ. Call him out... with examples please.

I don't need an excuse since there's an actual reason.

In Stewarts case it just took making faces at the camera for laughs, but yes, I get your point and comedy in general is funnier when rooted in reality. The ancient greeks even knew this to be true.

So that's what you sum up Stewarts satirical comedic success as... just making faces?

THAT is some serious research displayed in comedic fashion.
