ISIS militants reportedly burn to death 45 people in western Iraqi town | Fox News

Islamic State militants reportedly have burned to death 45 people in the western Iraqi town of al-Baghdadi on Tuesday, just five miles away from an air base staffed by hundreds of U.S. Marines.

The identities of the victims are not clear, the local police chief told the BBC, but some are believed to be among the security forces that have been clashing with ISIS for control of the town. ISIS fighters reportedly captured most of the town last week.

Col. Qasim Obeidi, pleading for help from the Iraqi government and international community, said a compound that houses families of security personnel and officials is now under siege.
These people seem to be daring us, BEGGING us to send in ground forces. Acts this brazen undoubtedly are meant to elicit a response...

Of course they want that.... if US or western troops go in, then they can start using the crusade card.. a very powerful image in the middle eastern folklore and history. Nothing helps recruitment as an ancient enemy that is seen as the devil it self.

However saying that, this could easily backfire on ISIS as the victims are mostly fellow Muslims... Just look at the Jordanian pilot and the reaction there... not talking about the government reaction but the mood in and views in the country towards ISIS.

If they are burning up Muslims this is going to go against them. Both sides of the sectarian divide will end up putting aside their difference to remove their Heretics.

Which every little bit helps.

They can use the "Crusade card" all they want. The world has seen more then enough examples of their brutality to shrug off that "Crusade" crap and cheer us on.

While I agree that these brutal acts against Muslims will backfire at some point, I don't think they'll be "cheering us on" if we invade.

It will switch so fast from Isis burning 45 people to 60 killed as collateral damage in a bombing run it will make your head spin.

At a certain point, neighboring countries and people inside the country need to step up and say enough is enough.

I agree and theoretically it shouldn't even be that difficult.

ISIS needs funding and supplies which neighboring countries could choke off if they could just muster the resolve to actually DO it.

No doubt those inhabitants of Khan al Baghdadi provoked the ISIS fighters into doing this. Couldn't they have at least tried to be nice? I admit burning people alive sounds a little extreme, but we have to realize how disrespected and invalidated the ISIS people must have felt. When our inner child is abused, it's only natural that we lash out with violence. We saw much the same thing in Paris, where those mean Charlie Hebdo people invalidated Muslims everywhere by mocking the Prophet Mohammed.

We Americans are guilty of making Muslim jihadists do violent things, too, as Mr. Obama's preacher, Jeremiah Wright, reminded us. We provoked Al Qaeda into 9/11, as he noted: "America, your chickens have come home to roost." Professor Ward Churchill also reminded Americans that we brought 9/11 on ourselves, when he noted that the people who worked at the World Trade Center were "little Eichmanns." That is, they got their comeuppance for helping the American capitalist system oppress the less developed world. I'm sure Mr. Obama, with his anti-colonial Muslim roots, agrees.

These jihadists are people just like us. If we would all just try to understand their feelings as Muslims, and show them how nice we are, instead of acting like modern-day Crusaders, I'm sure they would want to live in harmony. But instead, just the other day, when a delegation of a couple dozen ISIS members came to the Al Asad airbase, presumably to dialogue about the misunderstandings between us, the belligerent, cowboy response was to attack and kill them! This hating and bloodshed will go on in a never-ending cycle until we Americans learn that violence never solves anything, and that an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.

Thank you, Mr. President.

I don't think that ISIS sees a difference between Christians and non-Sunni Muslims.

There you have it. Lets set this one out and push for that local solution.

I thought the real worry was a backlash by evil Americans in the States being mean to Peaceful Muslims....

You're not allowed to call them "Islamic State militants"..... folks get all pissy when you use the term " Islamic" or "Islam", Including our President.

use non-offensive terms.. like "disgruntled persons" or "nonreligious freedom fighters".....we don't need to offend sensibilities

JV wants to be varsity, I see.

These are pretty sick sons of bitches, if I do say so.
Part of me really wants to believe that our President and our leaders have some secret strategy that will make statements like "the JV team", the refusal to call these people what they really are, and our reluctance to do anything more than lob a few token missiles in their general direction, make sense at some point. I really do want to believe that he is not as completely incompetent as he looks right now.

Including our former president.

Just so you know... those were NOT my words. They were written in the article linked.

I would NEVER say something so vile and offensive about the religion of peace.;)

The Bush administration began the process of expunging the language you want Obama to use.

Why?

Why would we send ground troops for this?
I don't know "why" and I am not suggesting that we do. I'm simply speculating that THEY might be trying to get us to do so by carrying out acts that seem to be getting progressively more outrageous. It seems to me like their strategy is aimed at provoking a response.

I don't think that ISIS sees a difference between Christians and non-Sunni Muslims.

They absolutely don't, nor do they care. They think they've got Allah on their side and they're going to win in the end, no matter how many fighters they lose along the way. Those people get 72 virgins after all, they're going to a better place and will be rewarded. Their goal is to convert or kill any non-Sunni Muslim, regardless of the cost. We need to stop pretending that these are reasonable people who can be debated. These are animals who need to be killed, to the very last man.

They are bastards, without a doubt. But I would call them evil rather than sick. These savages know exactly what they are doing, and they delight in it. It will not be so delightful for them, if they are the ones being attacked. If a group of them ever tries to make a serious fight against the kinds of heavy weapons the U.S. is now sending over there, I am pretty sure most of then would very soon be running for their lives, with no place to hide.
