School worksheet tells kids GOP thinks helping poor 'waste of money,' parent [W:78]

Re: School worksheet tells kids GOP thinks helping poor 'waste of money,' parent clai

But it's not false. An oversimplification, perhaps, but not false.

It isn't an over simplification, it is a lie. That is like claiming that all Italians are in the mafia and then trying to pass it off as an "over simplification". No, it's just a lie. It is nothing but a falsehood passed off as fact. I also note that you have failed to come up with even one Republican that believes what you say all Republicans believe. It's a bad lie and you have been called on it.

I worried about two things in school. My car and my chick. Yes, in that order.

Must be in your fifties

Umm, unless you're just incredibly stupid, then yes, you can. Put aside the partisanship for a moment and you'll easily see how dumb it was to suggest I was a shill.
So many responses I'd love to give here...

Me too. Return on Investment precludes any additional effort.

I don't see anyone encouraging illegal immigration myself, but even if they are, somehow between Reagan's amnesty and Obama, 12 million arrived here, and now that the total is less than 12 million, it's a CRISIS!!! And it doesn't matter why, really. The fact is illegal immigration is less of a problem in 2105 than at any time since Reagan. Besides, Obama has deported more illegals than any POTUS in recent history. But it's still a CRISIS!! Gosh, can't figure out why that might be.....

BTW, the people you're saying are getting a 'safe harbor' are children. Yeah, that's awful we're treating them humanly.

LOL. You touched many of the Prog/Lib talking points in just one paragraph. Well done!

Ignoring absurd claims like the one that laughingly starts with "the fact is", what is the Prog/Lib plan for the unemployed minorities the left has ignored while handing the keys to the country to illegals? More "its the GOP's fault"? I see cracks in that meme widening.

That's the issue with the bile this test reveals. The message in the specific question comes from the left. The test is attempting to drive home a lie told by the left. Call it propaganda confirmation of messaging. Just like the BS in your post, it's not even supported by facts, yet you typed them in and posted them as if it were true.

And yet, I'm guessing you fully approve of one and not the other.

Of course that's what you guess

Being wrong about what other people believe is completely consistent with your other posts in this thread.

Children don't need to be taught about political ideologies. It is better that they can write understandable sentences and do basic arithmetic. I even went through college in the old days without a single mention of anything political in any of my classes (I didn't take political science.) All of my classes stayed on subject. Apparently we don't do that any more.

Re: School worksheet tells kids GOP thinks helping poor 'waste of money,' parent clai

I teach at a large private universtiy and a state university. I have sat in on hundreds of classes and taken many many as a student. I have never once, not once, had a professor force any sort of political beleifs on me or seen it done to any other student. Most of this librul university BS is RW fantasy outrage stuff, mainly by people that have not been on a campus for anything other than a football game for 20 years. They take a couple of nuts and pretend all professors and universities are like that.

Then our experiences are in agreement. But in the old days there wasn't even any talk of professors bringing political ideology into the classroom. I never even heard of it. It probably is an overstated case but at least someone is making the case and that wasn't so years ago.

Re: School worksheet tells kids GOP thinks helping poor 'waste of money,' parent clai

Looks like something my senior year government teacher would have done, if he had thought of it. He was an open and unabashed vocal Reagan-hater, and staunch liberal.

This was in 1982, btw.

A bunch of us hated Governor Reagan when he slashed funding and thousands of mental patients ended up on the streets here in California. It was so easy to hate what Reagan stood for, and this was before his failed presidency.

If by 'talking points' you mean facts that you cannot dispute, you're right!

Ignoring absurd claims like the one that laughingly starts with "the fact is", what is the Prog/Lib plan for the unemployed minorities the left has ignored while handing the keys to the country to illegals? More "its the GOP's fault"? I see cracks in that meme widening.

The left handed the keys of the country to illegals? When did that happen?

LMAO. Which facts did I assert that aren't true?

Here's a graph showing various estimates of the illegal population. Maybe you can point out the Obama surge?

What I described was in California also, and the teacher was in his late 50s, so it's entirely possible that that might have played a part in his opinion.

Which is fine. I had, and still don't have, an issue with his opinion, but in a high school teaching environment I thought, and still think, he should have been more professional about how he conveyed it. Really, all the students just thought he was an ass.

Re: School worksheet tells kids GOP thinks helping poor 'waste of money,' parent clai

It isn't an over simplification, it is a lie.
No, it's not a lie. I can (and have) pointed to many different instances where Republicans have said we shouldn't spend money on programs which help the poor.

I also note that you have failed to come up with even one Republican that believes what you say all Republicans believe. It's a bad lie and you have been called on it.
I've given you many instances. Here are some specific examples:

On Tuesday, however, the House adopted a parliamentary rule that adds a procedural obstacle to reallocating the money. If Republicans do decide that a transfer is necessary, they can change the rules again easily enough. Still, Rep. Sam Johnson (R-Tex.) said that a reallocation would be only a temporary solution that would avoid making real changes to "the fraud-plagued disability program."

"It will actually make the retirement program worse off, and it does nothing to fix the disability program," he said in a statement.

Fraud appears limited to relatively few cases in the disability program, although it is difficult to know precisely how many beneficiaries could be working. A report by the nonpartisan Government Accountability Office found that about 0.4 percent of disability beneficiaries were likely receiving improper payments, because they were working before or after they began receiving checks.

Governors across the political spectrum are hitting a roadblock in their bids to expand Medicaid with federal funds: Republican legislators who adamantly oppose "Obamacare."

While some of these governors themselves have criticized the president's health care law in general, they've come to see one component - Medicaid expansion - as too generous to reject. But they're battling conservative lawmakers who say it's better to turn down billions of federal dollars than to expand Medicaid under the 2010 law.

Partisan politics have driven states' Medicaid decisions ever since the Supreme Court ruled in 2012 that expansion was optional, not mandatory, under the new law. Within months, every Democratic governor agreed to expand Medicaid (although Republican legislatures blocked a few of those efforts).
Only nine states with Republican governors accepted the offer.

House Republicans narrowly pushed through a bill on Thursday that slashes billions of dollars from the food stamp program, over the objections of Democrats and a veto threat from President Obama.

The vote set up what promised to be a major clash with the Senate and dashed hopes for passage this year of a new five-year farm bill. The vote was 217 to 210, largely along party lines. Republican leaders, under pressure from Tea Party-backed conservatives, said the bill was needed because the food stamp program, which costs nearly $80 billion a year, had grown out of control. They said the program had expanded even as jobless rates had declined with the easing recession.

You're wrong. Republicans have constantly and consistently said we shouldn't waste taxpayer money on programs which help the poor. I'll await your apology for calling me a liar.

Thank you for proving my point. Your evidence is Republicans who believe certain welfare programs shouldn't be expanded. That is nothing at all like Republicans being opposed to spending any money on the poor.

Re: School worksheet tells kids GOP thinks helping poor 'waste of money,' parent clai

Thank you for proving my point. Your evidence is Republicans who believe certain welfare programs shouldn't be expanded.
They believe we shouldn't spend money on those who need it. That's been the point from the very beginning. Also, you'll notice the other two examples were (possible/attempted) CUTS to existing programs, not expansions.

Geez, you could at least address the points honestly, not simply cherry pick the ones you think you can address.

Re: School worksheet tells kids GOP thinks helping poor 'waste of money,' parent clai

They believe we shouldn't spend money on those who need it.

Well, again, false. But this new proclamation of yours is a far cry from your initial point that Republicans don't want to provide any money to the poor. Your evidence is that Republicans oppose certain increases in welfare programs which is actually my counter argument. So, again, thanks for disproving your point.

That's been the point from the very beginning. Also, you'll notice the other two examples were (possible/attempted) CUTS to existing programs, not expansions.

No, it hasn't. The supposedly "true" statement in the quiz question was a blanket statement regarding money for the poor in general, what you have provided is evidence that Republicans in some cases support maintaining current funding for the poor.

Geez, you could at least address the points honestly, not simply cherry pick the ones you think you can address.

I am addressing the point honestly. You are the one moving the goal posts and claiming outright lies are "simplifications".

Re: School worksheet tells kids GOP thinks helping poor 'waste of money,' parent [W:7

Hmmm...

Stupid teacher...

Everyone knows the correct answer for #6 is "B".

Well, Both A and B.

Also noted the teacher uses the leftist lie that Fascism is the right wing extreme even though many of the extreme fascist positions are left wing.

Re: School worksheet tells kids GOP thinks helping poor 'waste of money,' parent clai

Well, again, false.
No, it's not.

But this new proclamation of yours is a far cry from your initial point that Republicans don't want to provide any money to the poor.
That wasn't my proclamation. Good God, do you think you could have the decency to actually respond to what I say, instead of what you want to pretend I said?

Your evidence is that Republicans oppose certain increases in welfare programs
Cutting food stamps is not an increase. Quit posting lies.

I am addressing the point honestly.
No, you are not. You ignore evidence when it is inconvenient and you have posted lies about my position. That is not posting honestly.

Re: School worksheet tells kids GOP thinks helping poor 'waste of money,' parent clai

No, it's not.

Yes it is.

That wasn't my proclamation. Good God, do you think you could have the decency to actually respond to what I say, instead of what you want to pretend I said?

You said:

But it's not false. An oversimplification, perhaps, but not false.

It is false BECAUSE it is an over simplification. This is born out by the simply fact that the ACTUAL evidence you provide does not support the original blanket statement.

Quod erat demonstrandum

Is saying "Italians are mobsters" an "oversimplification" or simply false?

Cutting food stamps is not an increase. Quit posting lies.

I never said anything about Republican increases. Also, do you not understand what "some cases" means?

No, you are not. You ignore evidence when it is inconvenient and you have posted lies about my position. That is not posting honestly.

I don't ignore any evidence. You support the statement made in the quiz and the statement is false. This is simply proven by your own evidence. If the quiz statement were true the evidence you provided would show Republicans pushing a reduction in benefits to zero, which they don't.

Re: School worksheet tells kids GOP thinks helping poor 'waste of money,' parent clai

Among all of the rhetoric and accusations that this "worksheet" has generated on this forum, has anyone actually confirmed that the story is real, and not just something somebody dreamed up?

Maybe I missed it.

Re: School worksheet tells kids GOP thinks helping poor 'waste of money,' parent clai

Yes it is.
Nope.
You said:

It is false BECAUSE it is an over simplification.
No, oversimplification does not mean false.
This is born out by the simply fact that the ACTUAL evidence you provide does not support the original blanket statement.
Yes, it is.

I've provided many examples of Republicans claiming we shouldn't be wasting taxpayer money on programs targeted to the poor. For you to continue to deny this, even after being provided specific examples, is just mind-boggling.

Re: School worksheet tells kids GOP thinks helping poor 'waste of money,' parent clai

No, oversimplification does not mean false.

Of course it does. The universal claim in the statement is demonstrably false.

Yes, it is.

I've provided many examples of Republicans claiming we shouldn't be wasting taxpayer money on programs targeted to the poor. For you to continue to deny this, even after being provided specific examples, is just mind-boggling.

No you are not. nowhere in your evidence does a republican say that spending money on the poor is a waste. What you show is Republicans deciding on the amount of money necessary for the program. What you have done with the language is like saying a family that decides to spend $40 for dinner rather than $50 believes that feeding their kids is a waste of money.

Also, I notice you have skipped answering my questions... again.

Re: School worksheet tells kids GOP thinks helping poor 'waste of money,' parent clai

Of course it does. The universal claim in the statement is demonstrably false.
Obviously not, as I've already proven it true.

No you are not. nowhere in your evidence does a republican say that spending money on the poor is a waste.
They have said programs which are targeted towards the poor are not worthy of taxpayer money.

It's exactly what they have said. I think it's funny how hard you're trying to cover for your team here.

Also, I notice you have skipped answering my questions... again.
Oh, I didn't even read the rest of your last post. In fact, I almost didn't read the rest of this one. What question did I skip?
