Longtime "NBC Nightly News" anchor Tom Brokaw reportedly wants his successor, Brian Williams, thrown out of the big chair after he admitted fabricating key portions of a story he repeatedly told about his reporting experience during the Iraq War in 2003.

The New York Post, citing sources at the network, reported that Brokaw, 74, has been "making a lot of noise at NBC that a lesser journalist or producer would have been immediately fired or suspended for a false report."

Liberal news casters are turning on each other? :lamo
Trying to regain / maintain any shred of journalistic integrity that may have left? :lamo

Will wonders never cease?

ugh! liberals must disparage anything good out of the US....Sad....Gotta go to work....

I bet you never padded your resume in the slightest way.

Right. Because that is surely the same as lying to a national audience on tv while claiming to be a person that tells America the news. ((rolls eyes))

So his sin is in the number of people he bigged himself up to.

it not like Williams is tarnishing a legacy of veracity. After all Brokejaw was one of the Gore Fluffers who did everything possible to steal the 2000 election for Gore

That happens when they cannot be confirmed. Sometimes moving targets are wounded but will probably die depending on where they were hit. Chuck Mawhinney for example has 103 confirmed and 216 probable in Vietnam. It's pretty standard to have a confirmed number and a probable number.

two guys I used to shoot competitively with were marine snipers-one knew Carlos "Whitefeather" Hathcock well. He had 93 confirmed kills. everyone who served with him notes he killed many many more NVA. shooting enemy behind enemy lines or during firelight makes confirmation difficult. In one case. CH and his spotter pinned down an NVA column in a valley and trapped the NVA there while CH and his spotter whittled down the numbers until heavier weapons could be brought to bear. few,if any of the many he whacked were "confirmed"

Wasn't Brian Williams saved off the top of the WTC on 9/11? I think I'm starting to remember that.

Television producers and studio crew refer to news anchors as "the talent". There's a reason for that, which this whole story illustrates so well.

Inventory time.

Our current Secretary of State once testified against the US military, and our former Secretary of State told the exact same lie of taking on fire that NBC's lead anchor just told.

What kind of people are we listening to?

Apparently this type of people....

Oh? What stories did Kyle fabricate?

A court case found that he had to pay 1 million dollars to Jesse Ventura for saying he once knocked him out. Also, to date there is no evidence supporting his story that he once killed two men after returning from overseas who he says tried to carjack him. There might be more, but those are the ones that I read about. Still, he was a good guy from everything I have read. As for Williams, I don't know what to say about that. I guess I just don't have high expectations from journalists to begin with.

Well the digging has begun.
What has been given short shrift are the soldiers that reported this years ago. If I recall correctly, just after the fabricated event, many left messages with reporters on the ground stating what actually happened. Nothing was heard from a herd of reporters. Makes a man wonder now why squat was mentioned by these journalists?

By Friday, the issue had drawn a frenzy of online criticism, with other statements by Mr. Williams drawing close scrutiny. Some blogs and media outlets questioned Mr. Williams’s description of what he saw while reporting on Hurricane Katrina, during which he described seeing a body floating down the street from his hotel window in the French Quarter. At the time, some news organizations had reported that the French Quarter was not flooded.

Mr. Williams first reported on the episode when it happened in 2003, though the current controversy erupted last week after he spoke about it on air during a tribute to a retired soldier. Some veterans took to Facebook to complain, and a reporter at the military newspaper Stars and Stripes picked up the thread.

This supposedly happened over 10 years ago. Who's complaining about it now?

Wow. Very interesting. The NY Times is certainly taking an interest in this.

I recall reading that after his report of this fabricated event in 03, soldiers who were there left messages with a number of reporters- No one approached or asked for more information. Appears it was known then and there. If this is the case, why was he not challenged on it then.

Exactly! I wonder who wants his job?

Correct. And who the hell even says "misremember". LOL! Williams is an idiot.

I was wondering who would catch that.
What troubles me if there were soldiers who passed this info on years ago, why was it not fact checked?
He is definitely a power that may have scared some off.
Or is it where they gather the wagons, yet skewer Police - Military when they do the same.
Protect your own.
It will be interesting to see if the network publishes their investigation. No redaction's, all information made public. Do they have the balls, or will they cower. I go with cower, redaction's, the usual, privacy will be overused.
NBC has to get out from under this.

The court case that the disgraceful Ventura pursued was in going after the estate of Kyle, after he was murdered on the gun range...What a proud pile of **** he must be for going after a widow who had nothing to do with the event that night...That was clearly a case of Ventura being embarrassed, and using his Celebrity and contacts in hiring a shark lawyer that went after the estate after Kyles death....As for the case of him killing two hijackers, that was rumor spread by third parties...Hearsay. As was the Katrina story....Nothing about Kyle though has to do with Williams to the extent that liberals want to bring it up as a false comparison to distract from the fact that Williams is a liar. Just like Rather, Just like so many others that have been exposed.....
