Brian Williams Offers Clarification About 2003 Iraq Incident - NBC News

He 'assidentally' lied about being on one of the three helicopters that took RPG and AK fire. He 'assidentally' lied about his craft taking direct hits and being forced down. Fog of war and all that. Even though he didnt fly in til after everything was over he 'assidentally' misremembered being there during the actual incident. Whoopsie. My bad...nothing to see here. Honest mistake. Could have happened to anyone.

I was actually looking forward to him and Hillary having an on air discussion where they compared there engagement during combat operations...maybe even consider the possibility of filing for a purple heart...

One of those occasions where the news is the news.

Brian Williams, Granma Hilary, John Kerry, Michael Blumenthal...all shamelessly lied about their war zone experiences.

Assidentally? Is that Freudian?

How does one "accidentally" (assuming that's what he's claiming) lie about something like that?

Ironic, to say the least.

So what's wrong with a little hyperbole from ol' Brian?

Remember Hillary did it too, in describing landing in another country, maybe back in the Croatia conflict when her hubby was POTUS?

Those who have never worn the uniform are fond of 'war stories'.

I watch Brian fairly regularly, but believe precious little of what he says. I watch only to find out how they want me to think.

I'm thinking "how do you not know if your helo was hit by an RPG?" Machine gun fire I can kinda understand especially if the helos were all travelling in a group, but not an RPG.

It's a form of "Stolen Valor" that he, hillary and others engage in, wanting to claim to be part of what they have no right to claim to be part of.

Yes. Richard Blumenthal served in Vietnam, too. Later on he remembered that he didn't. Ah well. Silly mistake. He thought he was there - had it penciled in on his calendar.

Hillary's blatant lie was classic though..... so Brian tried to pull a Hillary... and failed! :lamo

This was despicable in my opinion. If you tell a lie long enough, like Williams has been doing. You'll start to believe the narrative. I suspect contract renegotiations shortly.

Where's Pete at? I would suspect since Media Matters works so closely with NBC on shaping their narratives, that by now they would have had a full explanation on this....
