New York City mayor: 'Don't underestimate this storm'

Sorry to hear that.

Here in my part of NH it's a crazy blizzard right now. But it's the most light and powdery snow I've seen in years.

Well, I'm pleased to report that NYC is still here and that nothing near me seems to be damaged.

Morning Joe was talking about and showing pics of NYC all morning. I guess the snow stopped early and it wasn't as much as predicted. I still think De Blasio and Cuomo made the right decisions given the forecast.

I'd like to report that "Certain Doom" in Washington DC (area) is over. We accumulated 1.1 inches of snow throughout last night and we ran on a 2 hour delay this morning. Still no cars on the road right now, will update shortly ;-)

1.1 inches

I got snowed in at Dulles once for 3 frigging days in 2007. There was a whopping 2 inches on the ground and you would have thought it was the snow version of Hurricane Katrina. I could have driven to NH & back 6 times in the span that I waited to get a flight back here.

And for the idiots at the weather channel naming winter storms (dumbest idea ever).

Sounds about right. It snowed 3 inches a couple weeks ago and the entire roadway system was FUBARd

"At Central Park, the total snowfall for the storm was about 5.5 inches."
:^)

And Sun is slowly burning thru clouds in NYC.
Weather services (and Mayor) missed (by 20") Because meat of the Storm tracked 50-100 miles further east.
Eastern Long Island, RI, Eastern Mass, etc.

Did everyone remember to purchase their bread and milk?

Sounds like the storm was a fizzle, at least in NJ. Was it the same everywhere, or just in some places? Is the weather service busy wiping the egg off their collective faces now?

It wasn't a fizzle here. We have over 2 feet and it's still coming down.

Not sure why they would be wiping egg off their faces?

Get inside, man!

I would but I lost a sock in the snow and I refuse to go back inside until I find it.

It's bad enough that my washer and dryer are stealing my socks - I'll be damned if I let the snow get away with it too!!

From the weather reports and maps I've seen, it looks like a bit south of Boston and north of that got slammed but south of that got just a regular/seasonal few inches of snow.

If it didn't happen in New York City, it didn't happen.

It's the Jeremy Lin Effect.

Good luck to you! We're only expecting 3-5. No delays or closures announced.

Greetings, Napoleon. :2wave:

We lost power yesterday, but it's fixed now. I have my driveway plowed automatically, and I heard him in the middle of the night sometime, but I waited till this morning to look. Wow! Maybe it was a combination of "lake effect snow" we always get together with the mess the East Coast is dealing with, but the huge evergreens around my house have branches that are actually drooping with the snow on them. It's beautiful, but I didn't step foot outside today except to let the Chihuahua out, and he sure hurried! He hates the snow! I baked some chocolate chip cookies today, so I'm ready for the next chapter. I'm waiting to hear how much snow we got....

just based on the picture in post 132. Apparently, that' just New Jersey, and the storm wasn't a fizzle at all.
