Obama vows to ‘play offense’ against GOP-led Congress

In a weird kind of way, yeah, you are right....In that both parties tend to do the same things and now since the power is away from congress I am sure we will hear all about how the demo's are obstructionists from you....Oh wait, maybe not.

I think it's more that the rules have changed. There was an unspoken agreement where elections mattered. The Senate rules were used to block more extreme legislation and extreme candidates. Veto's were used under certain circumstances.

If Obama uses the veto to completely block Congress sure...I'll say he was an obstructionist, but it's also how the game is played now. The new rules are, if you aren't in power you block everything possible until you get back into power.

How about naming for us the GOP Passed legislation sitting in Harry Reid's desk that you don't like or don't support?

Wow. Sounds like he's salivating at the prospect of fighting with the GOP for the next 2 years. What a unifier he turned out to be.

everyone with a brain knew he was an affirmative action poster child elected by people who wanted to convince themselves that voting for such a person would prove to themselves they weren't "racist" or so they could feel good that america could elect an incompetent black with a Muslim sounding name

actual competence had almost nothing to do with Obamagasms

Why don't you tell us about any of those bills passed by the House and where they are? Are they in committee? Is there a competing bill the Senate is currently working on? Are they actual legislation or "get rid of Obamacare" type bills?

No, they are sitting in Harry Reid's desk or some Democrat Committee Head's desk, why don't you do some research rather than simply spout liberal talking points calling Republicans Obstructionists?

Are 300 House bills really bottled up in the Senate? - The Washington Post

Uhhh

Voila! It turned out that in 11 of the past 19 Congresses — more than half — more than 300 bills were waiting for Senate action by the time the Congress completed its work. In fact, there were nearly 200 or more House bills pending in every single Congress of the past 40 years. (For this Congress, the number currently is just shy of 350.)

I'm not sure how posting that article supports your case

This is one of these “facts” that is sorely lacking context. While some 300 bills have passed the House and failed to pass the Senate, there is nothing unusual or unique about this. As Bump put it, “when it comes to House legislation that the Senate is ignoring, it’s the same as it ever was.”

Uhhh

Yes, notice the spike since Obama took office and Democrats took control of the Senate?

By the way it is liberals who called the Republicans Obstructionist and that this is the worst recession since the Great Depression. If that is the case why weren't House Bills debate? In the past there wasn't the sense of urgency with what you claim as a severe recession requiring legislation many of which were job related

Yes, notice the spike since Obama took office and Democrats took control of the Senate?

So....Harry Reid was leaving bills in his "desk" that were passed by his own party in the House? Harry Reid is SUCH an obstructionist that he can't help obstructing his own party?

There were a couple major pieces of legislation passed during that time frame. One of them has occupied a lot of the Republican controlled Houses time by trying to repeal it. There was a lot of work done with the Democratically controlled House and Senate.

You point to the effort to repeal Obamacare which is a job destroyer not creator. That to me seems to be part of the problem today, not enough jobs so with the economy in the shape it was why not solve the economic problems and do so by not focusing on Obamacare? The stimulus didn't do its job well enough and more incentive was needed for the private sector so what did Obama do, proposed Obamacare. Brilliant and just shows how radical and incompetent he is.

And yes, Harry Reid did obstruct a lot of legislation that had nothing to do with Obamacare but as usual that is what you want to focus on. Not surprising.

Our unemployment rate has been creeping down. How long does it have to go before there is enough jobs?

Obamacare was major legislation. So was the stimulus act. When was the last time such sweeping legislation was passed in the US? The 70's?

Our unemployment rate is lower because of part time employees and ignoring discouraged workers but you buy the headlines. the U-6 rate is 11.2% and we are 6 years into the recovery. That seems to be a success for people like you, why?

Yes, Obamacare was major legislation that passed on a totally partisan vote and both failed except in the liberal world where there are always low expectations. Please show me the spending in the Reagan Stimulus as well as the 17 million jobs created from the Obama stimulus?

Why would anyone give Obama credit for legislation that led to the loss of Congress for his party?

The number of people in part time jobs for economic reasons has been dropping since 2009 as has the U6 rate. In fact the U6 rate is getting close to the historic average. Those are both good things. Considering how high both were during the peak of the recession...yes...those are successes.

The purpose of Obamacare was to increase the number of individuals with healthcare and to bend the healthcare cost curve. In fact, as of June of 2014, healthcare growth slowed to a historically low rate. It was the first time since 1997 that healthcare costs didn't outpace the GDP growth. The percentage of individuals without insurance has dropped as well. Of course, it has dropped the greatest in states that have embraced Obamacare and dropped the least in states that haven't instituted a lot of portions of Obamacare (minus Kentucky), but it's met that goal as well.

Why would anyone give Obama credit for legislation that led to the loss of Congress for his party?
Because when this Congress is long forgotten by people that legislation will still be around.

Dropping is good, over 7 million today over 6 years after the end of the recession isn't. 11.2% U-6 too is dropping which is good but the number terrible 6 years after the end of the recession and with those great numbers Obama is touting. Anytime you have a recession the recovery should be faster and more significant than just getting back to pre recession levels. Do you have such low standards in your personal life?

Most of those enrolling were eligible for Medicaid but didn't take advantage of the program. Deductibles are up, you cannot keep your doctor or plan in many cases as Obama promised, and the American people remain against the program. Tell me where the penalties go for those who elect not to purchase healthcare? You are easily brainwashed by liberalism and that is sad

.

Yes, the effects will last for a long time, the next GOP President is going to have quite a mess to clean up vs. what Obama inherited, an economy coming out of recession and TARP which is reported to have saved the financial institutions. There is eventually going to come a time when our economic collapses under liberal spending and social engineering

Why would you say the things I bolded?
After all of your comments with relative intelligence?

And, one man's tax increases are another man's tax revenue replenishments.

Let me know when you're ready to move off the goal line you keep moving and proceed toward the 50-yard line, where I will shake your hand .

Because when someone makes the same stupid statements over and over again about how much money someone else pays in taxes, how much someone else earns, how great the economic numbers are when they aren't you have to question their intelligence.

One man's tax increase are another man's tax revenue replenishment? What the hell are you talking about? Gruber has to be smiling when he reads posts like this one. You think my tax dollars go to replenish someone else's? What is wrong with people like you? I cannot believe the ignorance of today's liberals and willingness to be led to slaughter by the liberal elites, sad, very sad

Yet Democrats aren't supposed to do this now with the McConnell filibuster--turn the page as McConnell says--don't do as I did, do as I say.

Just as McConnell trumpeted last decade when the GOP took over .

Apparently McConnell doesn't feel the same as you do--along with many other GOPs.
Jumping on the bandwagon that the GOP is to be given credit for the greatest job increase in 15 years.
Not to mention the 3rd and 4th quarter GDPs .

So how fast should the recession recover? It was by a lot of measurements the worst recession since the Great Depression. Unemployment hovered around 6% for nearly 3 years after the dot com bubble and that wasn't even a recession (in two consecutive negative quarters). The size and scope of what happened in late 2008 and early 2009 is without comparison in the modern age. We are recovering faster than a lot of other major economies in the world. You talk about low standards but I have no idea what your standards even are. No matter what it wouldn't be fast enough. Your playing in make believe land where you can just sit on the fence and say it wasn't good enough.

In an ABC/Wahs Post poll 39% of Americans want to appeal it (57% don't). The rest is just noise that you don't care to back up.

Lol! Honestly with that comment you have proven who the brainwashed person is.

Just as McConnell trumpeted last decade when the GOP took over .

Look, your party controlled the Congress for the first two years of Obama and the last 2 years of Bush. It is the majority party's responsibility to set the tone and show leadership, they failed when Obama told the Republican Party, "I won, you lost" and then implemented the failed stimulus and Obamacare. Leadership is about talking responsibility and Obama never has done that.

Apparently McConnell doesn't feel the same as you do--along with many other GOPs.

The greatest job increase in 15 years has generated one million more working Americans than when the Recession began. You can take any point in time which is what Obama has done and claim success. What you are ignoring is that we were at the low point in 2010 AFTER the stimulus and those shovels were supposed to arrive. What happened to them? I thought Obama was in charge in 2010 but apparently not. If you take the low point during the Obama term and the high point today you have great job growth which you should but the reality is 1 million more working Americans at a cost of 7.6 trillion to the debt. very expensive jobs

You spout the liberal talking points quite well. How do you know this was the worst recession since the Great Depression? Oh, the DNC told you so. The recovery has been so great that Obama lost the Congress. Why are you ignoring that?

yes, we have recovered greater than most economies in the world which makes me wonder why you support Obamanomics which want to convert our economy to a similar one that we are beating now? It is the private sector that beats the rest of the world, the one you want to demonize

In an ABC/Wahs Post poll 39% of Americans want to appeal it (57% don't). The rest is just noise that you don't care to back up.

Is that why Obama lost the Congress. Looks like you got your numbers reversed

RealClearPolitics - Election Other - Public Approval of Health Care Law

Do you ever admit when you are wrong?

Lol! Honestly with that comment you have proven who the brainwashed person is.

I understand that results don't matter to people like you where feelings trump reality.

I voted for him only three times, I couldn't vote for him a fourth time.

That's not trying very hard, good democrats cast 4 or more votes each and every election...
