Church fires unwed pregant employee

I fear some of y'all don't understand what cold and heartless are. Following contract to the letter doesn't mean you're being warm and understanding. In fact, it could be cold and heartless. So saying "she signed a contract" doesn't mean that the church couldn't have also been cold and heartless. For tossing this woman out because she wouldn't set a wedding date on their time table is, while legal because she did sign a contract, cold and heartless.
They gave her ample warning so I think it's fair. Don't forget the reason why she didn't give them a date: she wanted a big wedding.

We've all heard at some point the saying: Hate the sin, not the sinner or "Cum dilectione hominum et odio vitiorum, which translates roughly to 'With love for mankind and hatred of sins.'" It's a concept that is throughout the New Testement, like in Matthew 6:14, John 8:7, Romans 3:23. All too often Churches are stuffed full of judgmental and what I consider "fake" Christians who are either led astray by inadequate and misinformed Church leadership or who have no idea what Christianity and the gospels actually mean.

Oh yes, big weddings mean she's totally unreasonable and something. Church fired her for not making marriage on their time table. It's their prerogative, but throwing this mom to the curb for that is cold and heartless.

I don't think it matters. You're suggesting to hard core righties that Christians aren't always 100% wonderful people.

If she is a decent person then she was going to be unemployed as a stay-at-home mom anyway so no loss.

Un-Christian even.

Not at all. If you don't believe it, try it out.

Oh , apparently I missed the post where you explained why this church is only enforcing ONE (of a few?) examples of christian "religious law", and ignoring all the other violators of same said laws.

Oh yes, so it's OK to be heartless and cruel because she should totaly be doing this other thing you think she should be doing.

Sometimes, I have to wonder the morality of certain Christians.

Un-Christian even.

For a religion that preaches love, understanding, forgiveness, and understanding it would certainly betray those principles. Though legally they are in all rights.

It's interesting to see what sort of deflections are being made. She should be a stay at home mom anyway, and the noise. Some of the arguments are sad and laughable.

Someone here definitely hates women.

I don't believe, I said that.

And you're a better Christian than they are?

Sometimes.
I'm sure that in those times, you recall that you should not be judging others, and that includes their decision to fire an employee of the church.

I'm sure that it points out that their judging and condemnation of this woman is not something that falls within the principles of love, understanding, and forgiveness.

And Jesus said "Let he who is without sin....oh forget it, stone the bitch!"

It is a tough call, but the girl cannot really work for a religious organization, while blatantly flaunting religious law in public.

This sums up my thoughts on this too. I mean was it really so hard to give out a date and even if she didn't have one...couldn't she have just made one up? It wasn't that big of a deal. This is why you should know what sort of job you are going into. If you can't follow the rules of a private business then you shouldn't work for that paticular private business. Just because a job is open and you can get it doesn't mean that they have to change to accomodate you.

Best thing to do is lead by example.
