The man with a history of mental illness had a gun and said he was going to shoot the Speaker of the House.

Where are the raging messages by the gun-control democrats about mental health and gun control? But there is silence because the target was a Republican leader so instead it's funny.

Those discovering calling him "the orange man" are only about a 10 billion times to late for any originality - meaning no humor in it at all, just a mindless personal smear as the response to a realistic death plot against him.

This is not a joke topic.

He is the highest ranking official in our one-person - one-vote representative branch of government. 3rd in line for the presidency. #2 in power shared with the majority leader of the Senate. Virtually no legislation can happen without approval or against his opposition. He had power in relation to essentially every committee.

Should there be a terrorist assassination of him the effects in terms of more lost domestic civil rights and more foreign military action would happen. His assassination would affect our country's government, and therefore all of us. Even a mentally ill lone wolf assassination would affect our country's future, or liberties and much more in very real ways.

The government spends billions defending the president. A fleet of vehicles and aircraft. Secret Service. The Marines. An army of security not only goes along with the President, but is on constant lookout proactively. Checking out everything and everyone even before he appears.

Yet what of the rest of our officials including top officials?

There are many reasons why elective political positions are mostly only for the rich. But there is a growing new reason - only the truly rich can afford their own sizable security force.

While for some it is fun to think he might have been assassinated to post shallow, ancient history and non-funny any more "orange man" messages. But, in fact, there is a very real issue of very real potential consequence.

If there is a planned terrorist attack of an assassination hit on a major political figure such as the Speaker of the House, Senate majority leader, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, the residual effects could be massive.

I think that speaks to the individuals, not their party affiliation. I assure you that lack of class and decorum is alive and well on both sides of the aisle. Go read the thread on the Giffords shooting.
