Dems change tune after mocking GOP for ‘drill, baby, drill’

We actually saved more oil due to increased vehicle efficiency since 2008 than we have brought online via tight oil. Moreover, while tight oil has boosted worldwide supply, its only profitable at higher oil prices. The reduced oil prices today are more the result of reduced demand coupled with OPEC not cutting production in an attempt to increase market share.

Point being there is a little more to the supply / demand equation in regards to the current oil markets than the poster in the OP seems to realize.

What you are not getting is if OPEC still ran the show they would cut supply as energy efficient cars cut demand and would keep oil artificially high, they can no longer do that with the increased supply America has put in the world market. Your right about one thing though, Saudi has declared war on US oil and is trying to put them out of business.

Well Keystone won't create many permanent jobs and we may not need it with there being such a glut on the market... Also China owns a good bit of Canada's production new.

No construction jobs are permanent but surly you remember when Obama was touting them with his "shovel ready jobs" bumper sticker slogan. Now he sings a different tune.

That's not the case at all.. Saudi has not declared war on the US...

Meanwhile Iraq is doubling the production being shipped out of Kirkuk.. I posted a couple of excellent links a while back.

Not on the US but on oil produced in the US. They want to shut it down.

He wasn't talking about Keystone back then .. It didn't take but a couple thousands people to build TAPLINE.

"We are lowering our Brent price forecast: to $50.25/barrel from $72.25/barrel in 2015; to $67.50/barrel from $83/barrel in 2016; and to $77.25/barrel from $90/barrel in 2017," US investment bank Jefferies International said on Thursday.

Adding to the downward pressure on prices, Russian output has reached levels not seen since seen the end of the Soviet Union.

ANZ bank said that it saw a 60% chance Brent would range between $40 and $60 a barrel in the first half of the year, a 30% possibility of prices falling to $35-$45 during that time and only a 10% chance of prices going up to $60-$80 a barrel.

Oil comps subsidies are a different subject and a myth. This thread is about supply and demand but I will humor you.

"If you were to survey people and ask the question “Should we subsidize oil companies?” — the overwhelming majority would undoubtedly respond “ No!” The idea that we are subsidizing oil companies generates outrage in many people, but in this article I will show why these subsidies aren’t going to go away any time soon. The reason may surprise you.

So let’s ask the question in a different way: “Should we allow oil companies to take a tax deduction also available to any U.S. manufacturer such as Apple or Microsoft?” A lot of people will still answer “ No” to that question, but certainly fewer than answered “No” to the original question.

Now ask the question “Should farmers be allowed a fuel tax exemption for the fuel they use on the farm?” In this case, some people are going to say “ No”, but farmers are going to be near unanimous in saying “Yes!” Let’s ask one final question: “Should we fund programs like the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) that help low-income families with their heating bills?” The irony in this question is that some of the people who are the most vehemently opposed to fossil fuel subsidies will argue that this is an important program that helps keep poor people from freezing to death in winter, and thus it would be inhumane to eliminate it.

Yet unless you answered “ No” to all four questions you support programs that have been specifically identified as fossil fuel subsidies."

The Surprising Reason That Oil Subsidies Persist: Even Liberals Love Them - Forbes

I did answer no to all the above questions. That is not the role of government. And with the US government subsidizing US oil companies they can continue to flood the market and effect supply and demand. If the subsidies stopped, the supply would drop because companies would not be able to produce as much and still turn a profit because of how low oil is going for right now. So, yes, subsidies do alter the supply and demand you speak of.

It's called supply and demand, get it now DNC? Get it now Obama?
Be sure to watch the video, it's hilarious.

Back when gas topped $4 a gallon, Republicans chanted "drill, baby, drill" at rallies across the country -- arguing more domestic drilling would increase supplies, reduce dependence on foreign oil and boost the U.S. economy.

Democrats, almost universally, mocked the GOP plan. In 2012, President Obama called it "a slogan, a gimmick, and a bumper sticker ... not a strategy."

"They were waving their three-point plans for $2-a-gallon gas," Obama told a laughing audience during an energy speech in Washington. "You remember that? Drill, baby, drill. We were going through all that. And none of it was really going to do anything to solve the problem."

"'Drill, baby, drill' won't lower gas prices today or tomorrow," Rep. Janice Hahn, D-Calif., echoed on the floor of Congress in 2012. "But it will fuel our addiction to fossil fuel."

There is no new drilling in the state parks or wildlife preserves and that is what "drill baby drill" was about. So this whole thing is a joke. You were wrong about drilling in those sensitive areas, we didn't need it, don't need it and we are glad we didn't do it. Lose, baby, lose.

Pretty sleazy don't you think--though there will be a newer low each new day .

Never let a tragedy go to waste.

This is more of the "We GOPs are responsible for the economy taking off", since they can no loner deny it .

The right has been entirely consistent on terrorism-unlike the left who refuse to name the problem and tell us its all about fear mongering in between attacks. Besides, I seem to remember Obama running with line about how he killed OBL. So you tell me-is it sleazy or not?

Projection-you think anyone who disagrees with you must have some sinister motive-in this case money. Its just not so.

Oil prices are dropping in spite of the left and you are going to have to deal with that.

I just filled up my Mustang with Shell V-power 93 octane for 2.64 a gallon today and tear rolled down my face...Does that count?

The wrong has been entirely consistent with linking Obama with the French massacre in their 24/7 fear-mongering machine.
Running ads against their DEM opponents showing the beheadings .

Bush didn't worry about UBL--yet yelled mission accomplished to the Muslim world as he provoked them to "bring it on".
What a ****in idiot he was don't you think ?

Between every attack, Obama tells us he's doing a great job against terrorism. Nobody is buying it. Hes weak sauce, always was-and you dont like how weak it shows him to be.

Yet if Romney were President, you would be giving him props for oil prices dropping, the stock market rising,
the 15-year high in jobs numbers and the GDP that Romney praised.

All the things liars like McConnell are now taking credit for, since they can no longer deny it.
While they plot to divide DEMs in Hershey as a way to bridge their own Grand Canyon divide .

If Romney encouraged those ventures that led to lower prices I would indeed. Unlike Obama-who actively opposed such measure and than like a douche decided to take credit for it in the 2012 election.

Watch the following video and read its links. Im trying real hard to educate you.

I can not think of away that the dems could ran anyone after this guy..

Not if it was a tear lamenting the lack of a new tax increase to take the place of falling prices.

Actually it was for Putin and his crumbling oligarchy. Isn't that why you are worried by the low oil prices?
