Displaying powerful symbolic unity, in fitting and proper testament to the defense of civilization, more than 40 world leaders linked arms to lead the mass march in Paris in resolve against Islamist terror. The United States of America, Barack Obama, President, was inexcusably absent from one of the most critical turning points in the war between radical Islam and the West since 9/11.
No Obama. No Joe Biden. No John Kerry from State. No Chuck Hagel or Ashton Carter from Defense. Not even Eric Holder from Justice, who happened to have been in Paris.

Neither President Obama nor Vice President Biden showed up — and in fact, America’s only representative was its relatively unknown and low-profile ambassador to France.
Obama and Biden had empty public schedules Sunday, but the White House declined to comment on why they didn’t go.

What a shameful display. And liberals wonder why rational opposition to Obama claim he is sympathetic to radical Islamists.

This made me laugh. Obama is sympathetic to Islamist radicals, but yet he's being hammered by the left for unmanned drone attacks on Muslim extremists. That's the "rational opposition" we're discussing here. No, j-mac rational people wonder how one could claim such a thing given all the evidence and not the weak assertions of people who'd be against whatever Obama does.

Mahmoud Abbas was there along with Benjamin Netanyahu...Where was Obama? Biden? Kerry? Why weren't they there? You can be as offended as you want at someone like me calling this Dhimmi President, but he shows with his actions on a daily basis....

Rational opposition, cites this article.

Besides just being a completely unqualified novice in office, he is also an A1 screw up. Although it is possible he was afraid of offending the islamo-nazis that would kill him in a second.

The Dhimmi President who has no problem killing the leaders of Muslim extremists and throwing bombs over Muslims if he feels like it. I don't know if you actually know what "Dhimmi" means. Do you? Or did you hear it somewhere?

Gottcha....Why wasn't Obama there?

I think Obama should not have gone, for security reasons. I think this was certainly a John Kerry move. He should have gone. He's the Sec. of State, that's his job. It was kind of a slap in the face to the French.

Do you?

Dhimmi, an Arabic word meaning "protected". Dhimmi was the name applied by the Arab-Muslim conquerors to indigenous non-Muslim populations who surrendered by a treaty (dhimma) to Muslim domination.

Not just "kind of", but an actual diplomatic slap....After Kennedy was assassinated, De Gaulle got on a plane and came straight to our side....The French in many cases including helping fight the British for our very independence were there by our side, and Obama, with a clear schedule couldn't be bothered to get there? What a loser.

True. Everyone else made the trip over to France.

Why do you think it is shameful? The Europeans were giving a demonstration that many might think was one of supremacist racism. I mean they were all there to protest the killing of 7 or so Europeans while the same day muslim terrorists seem to have murdered 2.000 Black Africans, who got very little mention.

Obama is an American President. He will be hammered no matter. And I say that and do not even like him.

Comparing a presidential assassination to the death of a cartoonist is a bit of a stretch. ;)

there was no reason for the president to be there but the vice-president should have

This can't be a serious question? You think what happened in France is no big deal?

I only brought it up to highlight that France has always been by our side. Whether in wars, or at times of loss like this, they have been here, IN PERSON.....So, why didn't Obama go? What was so pressing that kept him here?

What was so pressing that Obama, personally, needed to go to France? We entered WWII without a presidential trip to France to kick it off and are already into a global war on terror to a much larger extent than France will ever be.

He was probably too busy thinking of more ways to turn the United States into a communist country, where everyone is Muslim, but also gay sex is common, and we all pay 75% taxes. That's where I think Obama was.

Noted, you don't think it was important enough for the President to attend, even though leaders from 40 other countries DID attend....I think it sends a lousy message....

Maybe some of that, if you say so.

How many of those 40 national leaders are actually involved in the global war on terror? Talk is cheap and war is expensive. ;)

C'man, France specifically avoided the global war on terror back in the early 2000s. Remember when the 'Murica crowd was running through the streets calling them surrender monkeys? Hell, I bet I could find thousands of posts by right wingers calling them such. Now, it's different because Obama didn't show up. If he had shown up, they would have probably complained that he's stealing the show and not focusing on made up scandals like Benghazi and the IRS thing.
