2 Hostage standoffs in France (Hebdo killers)

Huh, that's what I was watching. The female reporter said in a somber tone "reports from the police chief (or some high ranking official I forget exactly what they said) that all 6 hostages in the market were killed" and they also had it in writing spinning across the screen. I only noticed it for a few minutes and then they stopped reporting that and only said the gunmen were dead.

Perhaps I happened to just view it at the right moment and you looked away for a bit.

Could be. I did step away for a bit to start a load of laundry. Are you watching the French broadcast? Or do they have an English speaking France 24?

4 of the hostages in the Jewish supermarket were murdered.
15 released, not sure how many injured.

Ahhh, I'm watching the English version linked in the OP, that could be the discrepancy as well as I assume you're watching the French broadcast.

The most difficult question will be...

So now what do we do?

Why! Continue mocking religion and enforce freedom of speech, of course! The method in the Islam-West cultural clash has been established, has it not?

Such fluid reporting. Just turned off Fox about 20 minutes ago with report that hostages were okay at both locations. Sorry to hear this. It will effect every future hostage operation.

Nature of live coverage. Unfortunate, for the ones who did not make it, but at least some did and the bad guys are dead.

Yes, I am. That's probably it then. They were exceedingly careful the whole time on the French channel stressing repeatedly that the info was very unreliable at that point and that nothing was officially confirmed. They just had the Minister of the Interior on a few minutes ago and he was directly asked for official figures on the number of casualties. He said that he did not have anything official yet and that he would only provide that info once he was 100% sure it was accurate. Maybe Hollande will have more to say later during his live adress.

Damn, they took out more innocents. Time the whole world takes action. If "moderate" muslims don't stand up, and RISE up, then they're not part of the solution, they're part of the problem. Let your voice be heard or it will be silenced.

Unfortunately, that's not what will happen.

I hope that the terrorists died in a very painful manner.

The best was the bombing brother in Boston. Shot up by cops, calling out to his brother for help, and his brother, in a slightly panicked manner helped him... by running him over with his truck.

Ayup - it brings a tear to your eye, eh?

Radicalized morons.

Karma.

Fox is good at that.

The woman wanted in connection with the recent terrorist shootings in Paris apparently left France on 2 January. Unofficial sources say Hayat Boumeddiene flew to Turkey and then crossed the Turkish border into Syria. Turkish authorities have refused to comment. Before he was killed by police, the boyfriend of Ms Boumeddiene - Amedy Coulibaly - told French news channel BFM TV that the attacks were conducted on behalf of the Islamic State (ISIS) in Syria.

Never understood why Muslims are unique in the world in being responsible for policing the activity of their coreligionists. (when were Christians held accountable for the KKK, the Ustasha, or the Falange (of either the Spanish or Lebanese variety) What exactly are they supposed to be doing?

And no that's not to say that one justifies the other, merely that this bizarre notion that the community as a whole is responsible for regulating the actions of a tiny minority of its members is not applied in any other case. If anything it would make more sense in cases related to Catholicism, which has more of a unitary structure.

Lastly, shooting people for drawing a cartoon is bad.
