A man suspected of shooting two NYPD officers responding to a robbery call in the Bronx late Monday is in custody, sources familiar with the investigation tell NBC 4 New York, and a second suspect in the case was arrested at the Manhattan hospital he went to with a gunshot wound. The alleged gunman was picked up in the Bronx Tuesday afternoon, hours after he was allegedly captured on a restaurant's surveillance video opening fire on the officers. The officers returned fire and two of the cops -- 30-year-old Andrew Dossi and 38-year-old Aliro Pellerano -- were wounded.

This is going to cause a problem.

From what I could see of the video it looks like at least one of the guys was a person of color and if the cops shot him just because they suspected he ripped off a restaurant there's going to be hell to pay.

Sure, some folks are going to come out and say "but he shot first!" and while I understand how they might feel that way it's just because they're racist and don't understand that the guy was in fear for his life as a person of color being confronted by the cops. It was merely an act of preemptive self defense.

So you think we might have a race card issue in this case? But if the cop that shot him is black, no problem right?

Doesn't matter if the cop was black. The race issue is one of cops in general against people of color. You've got to understand that it's the whole system that's racist.

Agreed, I do not see this going down any other way than on the backs of other recent events. Sad, but a mess is likely to occur here.

If you shoot at a cop. there's no excuse. If you shoot at a LEO, you are opening yourself to die. That's it, very easy.

I know. My post was total sarcasm and I figured that maybe "preemptive self defense" would be a giveaway but I really should know better. Anyway, I also know you're new here so it would be hard for you to have picked that up anyway.

FYI, we do have a few members here may well feel exactly as I implied in my post.

I thought the NYPD wasn't arresting anybody in protest of the Mayor's lesbian wife wearing jeans to a funeral or some such nonsense.

That was "unless absolutely necessary" and I'd suggest that suspects in an armed robbery would fit that category.

I imagine people not being able to get a parking space because of people camping out in spots they normally couldn't camp out in gives them a different perspective on "unless absolutely necessary" too.

As long as the blacl cop isn't bi-racial. If so, he'll be considered a whiye blacl person.

From the article, all we need to know...

"The alleged shooter was identified as Jason Polanco, a boxer who was charged with five counts of attempted murder of a police officer and was said to have posted anti-police and anti-government statements on social media, police said."
