Police chief accidentally shoots sleeping wife

My guess? He may have had the gun between the mattress and box spring. That's where I keep one, but I don't take it out and screw around with it. It stays there, so that I always know where it is. God only knows what he was doing with it, or what would be the purpose of moving it, but one of the problems with guns is that some people get sloppy and careless when they are too familiar with them. I always maintain a healthy respect for the damage that they can do.
"familiarity breeds contempt" applies here. exactly so

It may be problematic when looking across all the departments out there, but it is not unreasonable to expect law enforcement to have a level of training with the tools they have over the general populace. Just as it is not unreasonable to expect the fire department to have a level of training with the tools they have over the general populace.

Our issue as it applies to this story of a police chief accidentally shooting his sleeping wife, is we do not have enough information yet for us to point to training (or lack thereof) being the factor we should be considering.

I don't really see how it could be training at all. I am sure that he was taught the fundamental rules for handling a firearm just like they teach kids at youth hunting courses. He had been given the knowledge needed but choose to not use it. You can not train stupid or carelessness out of someone. A person will either make gun safety a priority or they won't but that is up to the individual.

That is if this was really an accident.

The toddler had no training in proper handling of firearms.

One would think that a Police Chief would have had such training.

He ought to be retrained. While on bed his mind goes haywire.

Well, yes, I do have a sense of humor. In fact, I have a great sense of humor when something is funny.

Well, I got two 'likes' for that post, so somebody else thought it was funny. So sorry you didn't.
