Walmart customers “unruly” after store closes, police called

Kudo's for working the lefts anti-consumerism canard into this. People aren't responsible for their behavior, and somehow capitalism is to blame no doubt. Its just more cultural marxism on display.
Consumerism - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Lets try this again, can you give me an example of rampant consumerism that is thuggish? They aren't equivocal.

Well, if I were to define each word:

Rampant
Rampant - Definition and More from the Free Merriam-Webster Dictionary
growing quickly and in a way that is difficult to control

Consumerism
Consumerism - Definition and More from the Free Merriam-Webster Dictionary
the actions of people who spend a lot of money on goods and services

So, by definition, rampant consumerism translates to out of control actions of people who spend a lot of money on goods and services.

So I am providing you with an example of rampant consumerism that is thuggish - you are just too partisan to acknowledge it.

Ok, so here is the question...I have noticed that peoples actions over the past 40 years or so have become more and more self centered...For instance, when I was a kid, never would you have had people going to this length to attempt to keep a store open just for themselves...

So, how about it? Are we becoming more selfish? Is this lashing out like depicted in the story a result of people feeling like they are being too tightly controlled? What say you?

Its Wal Mart. That makes it an alien universe totally apart from the one most other people live in.

This really doesn't surprise me today.

But I'm 71-years old and I never saw, or heard of anything like that happening when I was a child.

The inevitable result from a society where some folks keep preaching the rights and wants of the so called sovereign INDIVIDUAL as God over society.

Bull****, I've been shopping at Walmart for years and have never witnessed anything even close to the incident in the OP. Have you ever been in a Walmart?

Our local Walmart used to have the Black Friday fights until they went to the stand in line to get a ticket to stand in line system. Some people get too wrapped up into it, but at the same time, it is a reflection of people's economic desperation running smack into the wall of our materialistic culture. I don't do Black Friday. Never have and never will.

I think it's a case of looking at the past through rose colored glasses combined with 24/7 of reporting everything nowadays. People are the same as they always have been. There have always been piles of self centered jerks, nothing has changed.

I have, but won't anymore. Not because it was a mad dash or violent. I just don't like crowds and usually all the good stuff is gone in a flash anyways.

In bold. So good I'd like to use it in my signature if that's OK with you.
I have always believed that human beings on planet earth are not the only humanoids in the Universe, and today I am going to prove it by leaving my home and going to alien shores. That's right, I'm on my way to Wal-mart.

So somebody made this story up? :doh:roll::shock:

Wal-Marts and Airports, purgatory on earth. :shudder:

I have. If you are truly interested, read the thread.

I did. Lets look at what you said that I replied to:

How does your personal experience at one or even a few stores have any relevance to what happened at this particular store and others who have horrendous stories over the years particularly associated with holiday sales promotions where the worst in people is brought out by Walmart?

Same here, I haven't left the house on Black Friday in more than a decade but I certainly see stories of riots at Walmart and other retail stores on Black Friday every year and have for quite a long time. There's something wrong with people who are willing to stand in those lines and fight those crowds.

A few years ago I tried adding the trailer onto my sig, but the code exceeded 4 lines. Shortly after that I noted your sig and was like 'wtf' but it wasn't a big deal so I let it go.

I've had a bit in my signature for years... and I've been a Mod for 8 years, so I had no idea until it was pointed out to me.

A word of caution, large sigs on every member's post can be a turn off. It basically turns into spam, especially with the one-liner replies and animated signatures.

I've heard that before... from people who tend to just want to antagonize me, so I pay them no mind. I have more respect for your opinion than that considering how long we've know each other and our interactions. I will definitely take what you said under consideration.

Lol !!

Yes, Ohio. A Historically hardcore Red State.. .

Ohio went for Obama....some hardcore red state huh? Even when they go red...it's by the slimmest of margins.

Ohio GOPs south of the Mason-Dixon line couldn't swallow the etch-a-sketch "serious conservative". Sending Rove into his meltdown. Yet today's GOP knows it can't win the POTUS without Ohio .

Nimby you "knew" the dems were gonna win last month. What happened there?

Does the word "unruly" have special connotations in the US that I'm missing? Over here it's associated with naughty children or wayward haircuts.
