Outraging Russia, Ukraine takes big step toward NATO

While it can be a slur, it is not necessarily so. It's something like the "N" word. In certain contexts it is indeed a slur, in certain contexts it is a term of endearment. When I use "high yellow" to describe a black woman, it is certainly a term of endearment.

BTW, I apologize for saying that. I probably should not here, but that is the truth, at least how I see it.

The n word is NEVER EVER a term of endearment even when blacks use it.

And I said what country are we occupying? Are you dodging the question?

It sounds like a trick question, or one asked by a person who has been living under a rock since 2000 or so. ;)

So you're not willing to answer it either.

Actually it's about as straight forward as it gets: what country in the middle east are we presently occupying?

I must not be old enough as I've never heard it before his post. Thanks for sharing.

I'd first heard high yellow in a movie in the late 1960's or early 1070's.

High Yellow (1965) - IMDb

Storyline

Cynthia Wood, a 17-year-old, light-skinned black girl, tries to pass off as white after getting hired of a wealthy movie magnate Mr. Langley who has family problems with his spoiled wife and his promiscuous teenage daughter and son.

But the slur goes way back to the civil war era.

Of course it depends upon how one defines "occupy".

If it is defined has having military forces present, then we are occupying quite a few countries there.

How would you define the word?

So Canada is occupied by the USA, and to a lesser extent the USA is occupied by Canada?

To occupy a country is more than to just have some military forces present. We have military troops in Japan, South Korea, Germany and other countries with the blessing of their governments. I think anyone with common sense knows we are not occupying those countries -- at least have not for a long long time. Typically occupying takes place when a country is defeated in war, and a substantial amount of troops are present to keep the peace and control assets, at least for the time being. And usually the sovereign government of those countries is not in control.

So no, we are not occupying any countries in the middle east as of this time. We no longer occupy Iraq or Afghanistan.
