At least 84 people, most of them children, have been killed after a group of gunmen stormed an army-run school in the Pakistani city of Peshawar.

The Pakistan Taliban -- Tehreek e Taliban Pakistan (TTP) -- claimed responsibility for the attack Tuesday.

Pervez Khattak, chief minister of the northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, said over 80 of the injured are children ranging from 12 to 16 years of age. He added that two of the attackers are now dead -- one blew himself up, while the other was killed by security forces.

Earlier, Shahram Khan, the province's health minister, told CNN that two teachers and an army official had also been killed, while 104 more were wounded.

The Pakistan military said a rescue operation involving its troops is currently underway at the school, with gunfire still being exchanged.

Khattak said there was an "ongoing hostage situation."

Take Mrs. Clinton's advice and "empathize" with the guys doing this. Maybe they went to that school and were picked on. ;)

If you look at story where 84 children were killed and went oh boy, how can I make this into a pot shot against Hillary you're truly an immoral person.

84 children. Eighty freaking four kids are dead. None of them will see their adult years and all for what? All for you to make some snide comment about a quote you took out of context? Get the hell out of here.

Considering a child dies of malnutrition every what? 15 seconds? I just can't get that worked up about it anymore.

The Taliban is doing what they always do... Kill lots of people. This time it happened to be a group of kids. I just can't get that worked up about it anymore.

You make it sound like I had to get creative to make Hillary's statement appear as stupid as it was.

When you see this crap happen to kids you want to shoot and torture the Taliban jerks. :shoot
I find it fascinating how some on the left think doing such would make us no better than them.

Re: 84 children killed as Taliban storm school

This is a sickening and deplorable attack. It reveals the ugly nature of the individuals involved and the Taliban movement in general.

Re: 84 children killed as Taliban storm school

These conservatives killed 84 kids. It's tragic.

it is not islam ,you should know better than the others if you are not ignorant

You certainly can empathize with Islamist, and you can do so while condemning their actions. But I agree with you, let's end Islam and all the other religions while we're at it.

I'm not a spokesperson for Hillary Clinton, but the statement she made regarding empathy and terrorism wasn't as stupid as you would want to think.

When you see this crap happen to kids you want to shoot and torture the Taliban jerks. :shoot

Who said I didn't want the Terrorists involved in this shooting to see justice?

I find it fascinating how some on the left think doing such would make us no better than them.

Citation please, namely where I claimed we shouldn't hunt and pursue terrorism.

Don't try to put this at the foot at Conservatism. That's not fair for Conservatives who condemn the murdering of children.

Actually the current number is 126. This may come across as mean, but;

I was sad at first and immediately felt bad for their parents ( a pain no parent should have to face) then I realized they were in a better place now, and God spared them a life of misery. Yes I believe in God and in heaven, mock me if you will!

Education is dangerous for the Taliban. They know that. Religious organizations lose their monopoly

Re: 84 children killed as Taliban storm school

Welcome to religion in the right hands. Without Islam those kids would be alive today.

Speaking of ignorant, this sentence is it.

Re: 84 children killed as Taliban storm school

Not really, joG has a strong point.

We often talk about religion and science as being adversarial, by extension in some cultures education as a whole will be adversarial to teachings of religion. In Islam specifically is text supporting the place of men and women, what is central (religious) authority, and even form of governance. Education teaches plenty of alternatives when it comes to Sciences, other systems of belief, other forms of governance, what is going on in other nations, relations, basic sociology, etc. We know the Taliban (and plenty of other groups) are willing to kill kids to ensure control. So, it is a fair statement to say religion does not agree with the competition that education brings to the table.

Re: 84 children killed as Taliban storm school

They targeted little, defenseless children and it's far from an isolated event. Just beyond disgusting.

No, he make a broad statement about religious organizations playing on the ignorant. I know many intelligent people (even physician) who are very religious.

Just look what has happened in Europe. That may help you understand the the content of the sentence.

He is not all that wrong even with your anecdotal evidence of who is "intelligent."

If we have to compare religions we can, but Islam happens to be the furthest behind the curve when it comes to the relationship between education and religion. And you know that is factual, all one has to do is observe how they view the role of men to women to get very clear reasoning on how adversarial education must be to Islamic teachings. All you have to do is observe how willing the Taliban (and other organizations of the like) are to harm kids to ensure their path is the dominant one. All you have to do is observe who is kidnaping young girls, some prepubescent, only to find them as married off to adult men, or traded, or gifted. Education would present alternatives to all of that and it supports the notion very well that education is adversarial to religion (even though I will concede that not all religions end up violent about it.)

Potshot? Did she, or did she not state we should empathize with these people? That's no potshot sir, it's a direct hit, and well deserved.

He is completely wrong. He did not specifically say Islam. What part of that are you missing? He said religion in general which is nothing but an untrue blanket statement, period.

I'm not going to have this discussion on what Hillary said in the same thread discussing the matter of close to a 100 dead children. The fact my post stood out to you instead of the number of dead children speaks volumes about you, ding dong.

Re: 84 children killed as Taliban storm school

in Peshawar (Khyber Pass) Near Waziristan / Army Compound school. It's revenge for the recent offensive against the Pakistani TTP Taliban; but not new

Militants have repeatedly targeted Peshawar in response to Pakistani military offensives, like a 2009 truck bombing of a popular marketplace frequented by women and children that killed more than 100 people
