we should not voluntarily assume a regional role in a region that is not our responsibility.

Good ol Gorby. Many times the voice of reason in the international sphere. I will stand behind his statements. I do believe Russia and the US need to sit down with a broad agenda. There is nothing to discuss. Russia must be contained until it proves to be a less authoritarian and less threatening regime. Withdrawal from Ukraine and Georgia would be my baseline requirements before I was willing to engage in any serious talks with Russia. Talks have the disadvantage of potentially reducing pressure and creating chinks in the broad front that has been erected against them.
 
This is no surprise. It will be if he said otherwise.

We are doing something, and it's not a bad move. Your comment doesn't change that they're justified. End of Russian incursion, subversive and overt, into Ukraine and surrounding area would be the end of the sanctions, it's very simple.

we need to become a country again so that the world stops looking at us to solve every problem. for free. we agree on nation building here, though.

it's a dumb move. destabilizing Russia and messing up their economy won't do anything positive for America.

being a superpower these days is more trouble than it's worth. i'd prefer that we be a country instead. let the rest of the idiots barfight each other and jockey for position. we should be nation building domestically and innovating solutions for the problems of the next century.

Freedoms unfair so, give your liberties to the state. Capitalism sucks, central planning will be a utopia. Hey at least you admit you'd like to see this nation taken down a peg, Obama wont do that.
