Gorbachev calls for U.S.-Russia summit to defrost ties

I want to frame this comment for posterity's sake. This is a prime example of politics over country right here.

I don't trust him.

What the hell are you yelping about? We haven't done anything "for years" in Ukraine and Georgia.

Sure we haven't, and Bill Clinton did not have sex with that woman.

Indeed. I think Putin understands Obama much more than the other way around. Its when the sunshine and rainbows of leftism comes up against tanks and jets.

IMO, the notion that some have articulated that international rules have rendered Realpolitik obsolete is very naïve. Power matters greatly and those who assume that it doesn't will wind up being caught by nasty surprises when other nations use power to assert their interests. In that context, it is vitally important that the U.S. defense budget and armed forces be rooted on the security challenges that confront the U.S., rather than non-security-related factors.

You haven't provided examples of what we've done in those 2 countries, so i'm going to take your latest post as an indication that you are full of ****.

That's nice but it wont prevent Putin from owning Obama.

I don't think every nation is Nazi Germany, but I do think you sound exactly like neville chamberlain. And no, Im not advocating for military intervention in Russia.

And now you have demonstrated you dont understand how soft power and international diplomacy works.

Which is exactly why I don't understand why you made the first comment above.

Do you remember what happened in Georgia a few years back? When Russian troops soon moved in forcefully and took the land back. It's the way humans do it.

US was involved in that effort. Their guy was the president, educated at Harvard or somewhere near.

I am sure it has to be difficult for Gorby seeing much of his hard work being undone. I am sure Reagan would feel the same if he were alive and well.

Remember ... " Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall! "

Due to the inabilities of present U.S. leadership .... Maybe the next statement should be ... "Mr. Gorbachev, rebuild this bridge !"
